I dunno

I really enjoyed spending thousands of hours in Pokemon Pearl/Diamond mostly cause of the underground and pokemon contests

personal highlights:

  • base building
  • fossil/plate/item hunting
  • poffin making(after I got better at not burning the damn things)
  • biking around and enjoying the scenery

Also I adore the entire Mystery Dungeon series from the Pokemon collection!💖

Uranium_Green,

I’m still salty they removed the base building from BD/SP, it made the underground feel more personal/less grindy than what we got (and the fact that they didn’t include the platinum e extra content in the remakes)

Ghostalmedia, in How are in-store pickup sales tracked for revenue?
@Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world avatar

Retail guy here.

Everything is usually in a centralized database of orders that are tagged with the point of sale location and the store, warehouse, or vendor that the product came from.

Warehouses and retail stores also have inventory databases that tell them how quickly something sells, when they need to buy new supply, and where that supply needs to go.

It kind of doesn’t matter where the sale comes from as long as you know where inventory is and is not needed.

jacksilver,

That’s only from a shipping/logistics matter. However, whether sales are attributed to the e-commerce platform or the brick and mortar store is dependent on the company and their approach to the business. I’ve seen both scenarios and they each have their pros and cons. Ultimately though sometimes places do one or the other depending on what platform they want to show growth or revenue in (like a brick and mortar trying to increase e-commerce sales will count orders shipped to a store as e-commerce).

Ghostalmedia,
@Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world avatar

Correct. It really depends on how the business want do set things up. No one size fits all. Really all boils down to how the technology, data science, and finance teams want to solve the problem.

Ideally, if you can start over from scratch, it’s nice to have one generic data lake, then just run queries to tell you how a specific retail platform or location is performing.

KHTangent, in How are in-store pickup sales tracked for revenue?
@KHTangent@lemmy.world avatar

I’d guess it depends on the chain. I know of one retailer where a store pickup would count as an in-store sale, which gave revenue to that particular store. This applied even if the in-store pickup required the item to be shipped to the store first

mosiacmango, (edited )

That makes the most sense to me. The employees have to receive, process, package and deliver that to a person, which is pretty in store heavy.

bl4ckblooc,

This is how it happens for most large retailers from what I can gather. You can subtract that from the sales pretty easily though, it would be in the monthly sales reports and we even had a way to figure it out on a daily basis with the comptroller.

What’s a company that doesnt deserve to be boycotted?

Shadow,

Costco

KneeTitts,
@KneeTitts@lemmy.world avatar

ok that one Im confused by, they have good pricing, good products and unions.

irreticent,
@irreticent@lemmy.world avatar

Maybe that’s why they were mentioned when asked which one doesn’t deserve to be boycotted.

Zenbach,

Nah Costco is legit

257m, (edited )

FUTO although I don’t like their source available license as I would prefer FOSS.

Shadow,
@Shadow@lemmy.ca avatar

It’s been out like a week, do you even really know them yet?

257m,

Not really but I’ve watched a few of their videos and they generally seem like nice people they donate monthly to OSS projects and they seem to be operating at a loss.

ShitOnABrick,
@ShitOnABrick@lemmy.world avatar

I think as louis rossman said in his video its generally for the best although I would like for Rossmans software to be fully open sourced it’s not like he doesn’t have his reasons for not fully open sourcing his software he doesn’t want his software to be modified for illicit gains and used to spread malware on storefronts which I think is a good enough reason for not open sourcing his software although there are probably some better ways of handling this situation

donuts, (edited ) in Why does eating a frozen ready meal alone feel depressing even tho it's objectively good that I can have nice warm food easily
@donuts@kbin.social avatar

Self-judgement; it sucks and is useless and generally bad for you.

Maybe you're judging yourself for not cooking, but a lot of otherwise functional people can't cook or simply don't want to after a busy or tiring day. Enjoy your easy dinner!

Maybe you're judging yourself for eating a cheap meal on your own, but not every day can be a big party or expensive feast. Don't compare yourself to other people, especially when so much of what people depict on social media is misleading or exaggerated. It's fine to eat on your own (loneliness is a separate issue) and it's good to save money or live within your means.

Maybe you're judging yourself for eating something that you know is low quality or unhealthy, but health and fitness are much more about long term behavior patterns than any single day. As long as we're trying to be active and eat healthy on a regular basis there's nothing wrong with occasional junk food.

Anyway, the point is this: if you feel bad or depressed about something as small as what you're eating for dinner, it might be a sign of deeper problems with depression and self-judgment. And if you find yourself judging yourself, it can be very helpful in my experience to really think about why you're doing it, whether it's a reasonable critique, and whether you'd judge someone else for doing the same thing in your shoes.

You probably wouldn't judge someone else for eating a microwave dinner, so why judge yourself?

shinigamiookamiryuu, in Who agrees this was the best one?

Pokémon Colosseum was the best one for me. Followed by Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness, Pokémon Legends Arceus, Pokémon Conquest, Pokémon Go, Pokémon Blue, and this if it ever becomes a thing.

BudgetBandit, in Who agrees this was the best one?

Ah, early 30s American or late 20s European?

shinigamiookamiryuu, in What are some companies that deserve to be boycotted to death?

Autism Speaks. It has a pro-eugenics mindset, so you’d think everyone would be boycotting it, right? Nope, in fact it’s partnered with the Jim Henson company.

ThunderWhiskers,
@ThunderWhiskers@lemmy.world avatar

Can you elaborate on the “pro-eugenics mindset” at all?

givesomefucks,

washingtonpost.com/…/biggest-autism-advocacy-grou…

Tldr:

It’s founded and ran by two boomers who have an autistic grandson and were very very upset he had autism. That’s the generation that would actively try to avoid diagnosis and help because they thought the label was worse than the disease, preventing an entire generation from getting assistance.

So its less about empowering people with autism, and more fearmongering how bad it is and that someone with autism shouldn’t have any agency or choice in their lives.

I didn’t dig very deep, but yeah, I could see how that organization does a bunch of problematic shit

intensely_human,

The first problematic thing it does is have the name Autism Speaks while not in any way providing a voice to autistic people.

hungryphrog,

thought the label was worse than the disease

Autism is not a disease.

givesomefucks,

Go tell the people that support Autism Speaks.

I’d say go tell Autism Speaks, but that wouldn’t accomplish anything.

If you want more info, just read the link.

intensely_human,

I got my local grocery store to stop partnering with them for donations.

conciselyverbose,

I'm guessing they encourage screening for genetic markers of autism.

IdealShrew,

how is this different from screening for any other illness?

ThunderWhiskers,
@ThunderWhiskers@lemmy.world avatar

That was my confusion as well. Genetic screening isn’t worthy of condemnation but “pro-eugenics” has a pretty broad spectrum.

intensely_human,

It’s more like screening for left handedness than it is like screening for cerebral palsy.

Bye,

Autistic people, as they define it, are not just differently abled. They started the foundation where that word didn’t include people with mild cases.

If you could screen out non verbal, low functioning autism, that would be a good thing, just like screening out downs and whatnot.

GlitterInfection, in Why are most memes on Lemmy from 5-10 years ago?

Because we are mostly people from the corpse of reddit, and reddit was nothing but reposts of 10 year old memes?

lustyargonian, in Why does eating a frozen ready meal alone feel depressing even tho it's objectively good that I can have nice warm food easily

Because we live in a society.

moipe, in Why are most memes on Lemmy from 5-10 years ago?

Maybe I am mistaken, but aren’t “new memes” people reposting their twitter crap and hoping for better luck? The AI memes are getting pretty good, if those are what counts as new memes and what I think new memes are are actually older then idk.

I had gold my sister silver and my cousin crystal.

I was jealous of the extra stuff he could get.

I’ve never played it, however gold was the best in my opinion and this was better in my head so i agree.

Followed by fire red

Ghostalmedia, (edited ) in Why are most memes on Lemmy from 5-10 years ago?
@Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world avatar

Because the hot new meme is old memes.
