Downvoting a post because they weren't the first to respond is silly. Do you compare time stamps or just something with fewer upvotes and lolisted lower on the screen?
It just seems like a weird reason to downvote, and I downvote pretty freely.
Interesting content gets updoot. Spam, misinformation, and conservative politics get the downdoot.
For comments:
Relevant to the discussion (be it top-level or deep in a thread), funny, and factual statements get updoots. Irrelevant comments, false information, poor argumentative skills, and conservative political get the downdoot.
That’s shitty imo. I’m on the left but there’s plenty of conservative politics that aren’t extreme or worthy of burying.
My old coworker was conservative and we had some amazing conversations about politics and culture even though we usually didn’t budge much on our positions. He was my favorite person to talk to about it because he brought in “the other side” that I wasn’t otherwise exposed to.
To the guy I replied to, they’re apparently one in the same. But I’m definitely referring to the former. Sometimes it’s nice to have someone telling you to pump the brakes when you’re cruising on an idea ya know?
Liberals (me included) tend to rely on momentum and sometimes we overshoot. The world needs all kinds of people - even if I disagree with most conservative viewpoints.
I tend to avoid calling slow to change conservative because people and parties who self identify as conservative have been promoting regression on social issues, removing rights, xenophobia, racism, and sexism. They spoiled the term!
Those conversations happen so rarely that it’s not worth even considering that as a possibility until a reply or two has shown that they’re not going to stonewall the conversation.
In person things are one way, but on the anonymous Internet (especially lemmy and reddit) it’s people who are 100% not going to adjust their actively garbage views on things and thus deserve to be treated as the dickheads they too often are
If they don’t like being pre judged based on their political beliefs they should rethink why people have an inherant dislike of them, and maybe change. Or learn to deal with the consequences of having dogshit opinions
I’d say their main goal is to keep managers busy with something to prevent them from hindering work that needs to be done to keep the place running. ;)
I just didn’t want to look weird/sus plus mp3s don’t always do a preview thing in discord (I know, I’m trying to switch to matrix) so sometimes it makes you download the file But yeah I guess I can just send the file
I just got done living in KY for about 5 years, the one I like for a reasonable price was Basil Hayden, I think it’s from the Jim beam distillery but it’s not too expensive and it’s nice and smooth. But there are literally thousands of different bourbon and even one distillery group might have several brand names, like the owners of Jim beam actually makes old grandad, makers mark, and knob creek as well
Jim Beam does make a ton of other brands as the biggest distillery, but Maker’s Mark has their own distillery. They are owned by Beam Suntory though, but they still have their own distillery, aging warehouses, etc. that you can tour. You even get to dip your own bottle into the red wax - I still have mine!
I went in August 2014, and while they had a new cask strength blend they were doing, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
I did get to dip a bottle of that new stuff and still have it. I can’t remember how they explained it to me, that it wasn’t the first run but was still the first batch, or first batch but not the first run or something. Anyway I figured some collector might want it some day, or maybe I’ll just drink it when I find out it’s worthless in 20 years. It’s still decent bourbon!
Pandora sort of has some of that but not so far in depth. You can customize with crowd favorite songs or hits or deep cuts or discovery. Their library is much smaller though, and you’re stuck in a genre based on the station for the most part.
This is kinda how I operate. Just listen to pandora while I’m doing other tasks and see if new songs grow on me, then every few weeks, I put all my thumbed up songs on spotify playlists.
I thought theory was a fire/smoke leaking /explosion inside the tent caused by the homemade stove leading to them cutting their way out and running, and then getting separated and lost in the confusion, before succumbing to hypothermia
I don’t think the north and south poles have much satellite coverage due to how orbits work, so maybe in the arctic or antarctic oceans, but they’re pretty treacherous, so probably somewhere in the Pacific or southern Indian oceans?
This post spurred me to see if Rift were still a thing; apparently it is! I got in quite early when it was still unfinished and played it well after launch. They ended up doing a pretty big overhaul at some point and that's roughly when I got out as I didn't want to have to figure things out again. I may pick it back up. I have no idea what the playerbase (or the actual game these days) is like, though.
