Ok there Hitler

MajorMajormajormajor,

While a fantastic show I definitely wouldn’t call it upbeat. Dude has some major issues and it can be a rough ride at times.

Ward,

Very upbeat 🤣

Just started watching Deadbeat, doesn’t take itself seriously and I’m laughing most of the time. Easy watching.

Ichi_matsu,

Almost any show can be lighthearted if you don’t take it seriously.

jacktherippah, (edited ) in Lemmy, recommend me a good budget Android phone please

As a fellow Vietnamese, I would like to recommend a used Pixel. 6th gen Pixels are pretty cheap right now. Last I checked a used 6 Pro used was around 7m VND. They have flagship hardware and 3 years of updates left. And they’re open to custom ROMs unlike Samsung or Xiaomi. Honestly can’t beat them for the price.

SurpriZe,

Don’t have more than 4 mil. Is Pixel 5 a great choice as well?

jacktherippah, (edited )

Pixel 5 is already end of life according to this. I don’t think it’s a good choice any more. Might be better to look towards Chinese brands then.

SurpriZe,

For example?

Overarch3784, in What's the deal with the suspicious usernames on youtube?
@Overarch3784@kbin.social avatar

Can only answer this for me. I always use a username generator and usually it's a word with four numbers following.

user224,
@user224@lemmy.sdf.org avatar

user224 in here. I just made a mistake.
Firstly, I only wanted to test out SDF.org without wasting my username, but somebody decided to verify me out of their good heart. Then SDF.org announced their Lemmy instance. I didn’t know what Lemmy is, so I used my SDF username.
I can’t change it now.

JupiterKino, in What makes a smartphone useful to you?

The only reason I consider a smartphone a necessity is private and secure messaging and calls on the go. I can’t imagine having to be at my PC for longer calls with my family or non-gaming friends, and as a woman I absolutely refuse to go outside when it’s dark without a phone.

So since I already have to have a phone I use it for other things like Lemmy, music, podcasts, public transit and the odd entertainment app. It’s perfectly fine to not have a smartphone if you don’t need any of those things though.

A phone I can use almost anywhere.

Access to most of mankind's knowledge at my fingertips.

Weather and radar in seconds.

intensely_human, in What makes a smartphone useful to you?

My smartphone is mega useful to me:

  • Step tracking. I can see trends in how much physical activity I’m getting
  • Alarm clock
  • Reminders and lists. I use features like “Remind me at 7 pm that I need to do X” many times per day
  • Google maps and especially transit directions are incredible. Being able to download offline maps is great too for when I’m traveling
  • Ultra high resolution camera in my pocket
  • Google’s been great for the last 20 years. Now GPT-4 is my go-to when I have a quejaron about anything
  • Being able to call people is handy
ryan, in What makes a smartphone useful to you?

It's nice to be able to stay connected while out and about. Having features like maps helps when lost somewhere. You can keep store cards and such in your phone to scan instead of having to physically carry everything. I went to a conference for work a week ago that required use of an app in order to register for labs.

Teknikal, in What makes a smartphone useful to you?

I mean it does everything really, mp3 player, GPS, Internet, compass (maps), communication even games. That said I am a little disappointed because they have been removing things like headphone Jack’s, Sd cards and I really thought at this point we would all have flir cams etc on every phone.

theywilleatthestars, in whats a song you heard for the first time recently that gave you a powerful reaction?

Heard When Alexander Met Emma by Chumbawamba for the first time a few months ago and it made me cry hysterically and I’m not sure why

Redditgee, in whats a song you heard for the first time recently that gave you a powerful reaction?

First time I heard Blouses Blue play in Cyberpunk, it caught me off guard. Fuego by Bomba Estereo was another video game banger. Born Free by MIA went pretty hard, back in the day. That riff in Pantera’s Cemetery Gates never ceases to get me fired up. Bobby Shmurda’s Hot N**** is up there with the best eats, ever, and got me the first time.

ericbomb,

Well it made me feel sad, so yeah that’s a great answer.

Gonna try to play video games to avoid my emotions until I can sleep now, thanks.

outer_spec, in What would you rather eat a poop flavored chocolate, or chocolate flavored poop?
@outer_spec@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

chocolate-flavored poop. If it’s 100% indistinguishable from a chocolate bar, this is probably just poop from a unicorn or some other mythical beast that only poops wholesome things.

Krudler, in What is your favourite floor cleaner liquid and why?

I get all my cleaning chems from the janitorial supply.

Super concentrated, and you get effectively 20 times for the same price.

You can buy a 4L jug for like $35, and a teaspoon is enough for an entire mop pail. Sounds like a lot of money until you realize that’s an entire lifetime supply.

CowsLookLikeMaps,

Damn this is an amazing tip!! Is there a particular janitorial brand you use that I use for a keyword search?

Krudler,

The reason I suggest diectly going to janitorial supply is because you get the off-label stuff which is basically all the same chemicals for a good discount.

It’s not “zep brand pro industrial floor cleaner super duper wizbang” or anything, it will come in a blank jug with mixing ratios and the WHMIS info printed on it. Brands are for the public, janitorial supply is for frugal quality.

Same thing with oven cleaner, it will just come in a can that says “concentrated oven cleaner”.

At most you might see something vague like “Bottled by XYZ Chem co, Montreal”. Because that’s all that happens with industrial soaps, degreasers, lubricants, etc - some factory buys a bunch of 240 gallon drums, and squirts them into smaller bottles.

If you must search online, use Zep but seriously it’s so much better just to go in person.
