Same here. Never could be bothered to make an account on Reddit in all my years of lurking there, but here I am.

rolaulten,

So for years I was similar on reddit. Then I realized I could use my account as a bookmark organizer for subs I was interested in.

Never posted anything however. Here I have alts with post history. Interacting is still taking some getting used to.

Dang ol’, yup, man

cornballdefense, in What is a good scary/horror movie to watch this month?

I don’t have many movie recommendations, but I can’t express how much I enjoyed the miniseries that Mike Flanagan has on Netflix. My order of favorites being Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, and Midnight Mass. They’re all excellent though! He also is coming out with his take on The Fall of the House of Usher that premiered on the 12th. Haven’t gotten around to it to give my take though!

Coniferous,

Which was supposed to be Midnight Club? Also FotHoU is great, in case you needed a push to watch it

cornballdefense,

Mama I don’t need more push, I’m hype to get time to marathon it but I’m glad to hear it’s good! Especially if it’s coming from a fan of his already. Big fan of the original story. And it was my understanding that Midnight Club was left unfinished? I’d love more of his stuff, but my heart is worn out from loving a show that’s left unfinished:/

Yeah mainly because threads have less than 500 comments

shinigamiookamiryuu, in Does noone train their dogs anymore?

I sometimes hike in a town where people are absolutely obsessed with dogs, and they definitely don’t behave themselves most of the time. This isn’t always in an unfriendly way, many dogs just like people, but nobody even has dogs so much on a leash. There is a house near me whose dogs are way uncontrolled, and one day I walked past it only for four dogs to run out of their backyard to try to tell me to get off their lawn. The owner then apologized and scolded his dogs and asked them why they misbehaved. Well, for starters, you got time to train ten dogs?

Which brings up a good point, it’s always the dog enthusiasts with dogs that misbehave.

I think yes but I would still call myself a lurker. I don’t feel any pressure here to write a good comment.

The percentage is the same. But a LOT more people own dogs right now. Sure to the pandemic then WFH…

intensely_human, in Mother-in-Law bought family tickets to Medieval Times for tonight, but they're on strike and scabs are doing the show...

What kind of scabs do you hire for a jousting tournament?

half_built_pyramids,

Med time people from other non-union locations. It’s been reported the scabs are getting a higher rate, hotel, and other per diem benefits. On top of bringing in green people who haven’t done a horse tumble.

Oof. Hope they get workers comp too.

Hungry actors from the country who didn't make it big in Hollywood?

Seriously though, I'm actually kind of interested in how much training and OSHA and insurance there is in this business to start with.

As for OP, you can do a bunch of things to support their strike, probably. Tell people you know this is happening and why it's a problem, leave the business a review on Google about it with whatever rating you desire, email the union and donate to any strike fund pool they might have. Even an hour of your wages/time spent helping them out will likely be of greater value than the percentage of the ticket price they would have received from you. And I'm sure they'll be excited to know someone other than themselves cares enough to do something to support them.

Edit: and you also get to show your kids how to constructively collaborate on solutions to social problems. Which would probably be cool for them to see too.

Yes. I dont feel comfortable contributing to closed corporate ecosystems.

PetteriSkaffari, in How is your part of the world doing?

How come nobody’s talking about climate change? This will be the biggest thing throughout the world in the coming century and beyond. No interest or what?

Everythingispenguins,

Well I couldn’t say for sure but would suggest that it is a hierarchy of problems. If you are having a hard time with the basics then no matter how real and dangerous an upcoming crisis is it doesn’t matter.

I would actually say I interact less, but the things I say on here tend to be more meaningful outside of the dumb jokes and references. Like I have more of a tendency to have an actual discussion on here and write out my thoughts versus on Reddit where I would say low-effort shit or something purely for the dopamine rush of getting those sick upvotes.

Rottcodd, in Do you interact more in Lemmy?

Definitely.

I posted a fair amount on Reddit too, but mostly I’d just write something, then think about what was likely to happen if I actually posted it, then delete it.

sturlabragason, in Do you interact more in Lemmy?

Yes.
