Gallardo994, in What do you want for Christmas?

Socks, actually. And maybe an extra shaving gel cause this one is about to run out.

Mog_fanatic,

I see this answer a shocking amount and I don’t get it. Do y’all not just… buy socks? You can buy like 8 pair for $10 and they last a long while…

Unless maybe everyone is talking about like super fancy socks or something?

Gallardo994,

Yeah, I don’t usually visit shops specifically for that. In fact even if I do visit a store that has those items, I usually forget that’s even a thing I have to worry about. Dunno, it’s just never on my list for some reason.

Mog_fanatic,

Fair enough and totally understandable. You gotsta treat yourself to some socks friend!

If not, here’s hoping Santa helps you out 🎅

pedz, in What is your favorite hobby?

Bike touring on rail trails and quiet roads coupled with camping and visiting nature reserves and national parks.

I loved computers when I was a teenager and it became my work. I’m now working in IT.

I was fine with that for a while but because it’s now my work, I needed to find something else to escape, and be more active.

So I eventually started cycling “for fun” but now I have panniers, camping equipment, and lots of plans to go cycling and camping deep in nature.

By the way if you have rail trails and/or safe itineraries to suggest, that are somewhat long (over 80/100 km if possible), don’t hesitate to let me know.

My favourite here is 'Le p’tit train du Nord" which runs for 200 km, and I highly recommend it.

hakunawazo, in What Linux OS & Desktop Environment (DE) or Windows Manager (WM) do you use?

Mint / Cinnamon

RecallMadness, in What do you want for Christmas?

I just want to go ride my motorcycle, and not have to fit shit around everyone else’s shit and the mountain of jobs that need doing around the house (ie, never)

RBWells,

I am a working mom and will tell you - if you don’t schedule time for yourself you won’t get it. I prioritize sex and exercise into the schedule because if not, life and work will eat every moment. For 2024, schedule in 3 hours every weekend, or an evening or morning but every single week.

Realize that everyone is accommodating everyone else, they aren’t doing it to annoy you. You aren’t the center of the universe. But that doesn’t mean you don’t need time to recharge, plan it weekly in 2024 and let the schedule fit around you too. It will.

kalkulat, (edited ) in Anyone have any guides or tips for how to decorate home living spaces to feel more "lived in"?
@kalkulat@lemmy.world avatar

I make a place look lived in by living in it. I might leave some small stuff lying around until I get to it. No biggie. Or I get tired of it where it is. Not tidying a whole lot … just enough to be orderly. A magazine or two here or there, half read, waiting. Coordinated furniture? RU kidding? A pet plant (named) that needs water. Some of souvenirs here and there. Pix on the fridge.

MigratingtoLemmy, in What is your favorite hobby?

I’d love to get into digital electronics and hardware hacking but I have no use for the skills in my life as of now, which means I have 0 motivation to pursue them

Asudox, in Meme creation app on Android?
@Asudox@lemmy.world avatar

You can find MemeTastic in F-Droid.

payasson,

I tried it but it only allows very simple stuff, for instance its not possible to insert images :( but I guess i’ll begin with this

0x4E4F, (edited )

wow, i just used a browser, this is actually quite good 👍. thanks!

otter,

This works, but the formats are ancient

If it could pull from knowyourmeme or imgflip.com/memetemplates?sort=top-new, with an API of some kind, that would help a lot

The user can download the format they want

BrianTheeBiscuiteer,

I don’t mind if it has a small library or lack of integration but it really sucks I can’t add a template and delete the image or have a dedicated meme template folder.

It is open-source though, so make a request.

OP Please make the title a question. “thing” isn’t a question.

@Crunchyrock I locked the post as you refused to obey rule 2. It will stay locked as long as you don’t change it.

Unlocked it per request from the owner of this community.

Crunchyrock,

Nah

Asudox,
@Asudox@lemmy.world avatar

Please?

otter,

Easier to just report it

Asudox,
@Asudox@lemmy.world avatar

I’m a mod already. Though I’m unsure whether rule 2 is worthy a punishment.

otter,

Ohh

I’d probably remove it but it’s pretty borderline

Asudox,
@Asudox@lemmy.world avatar

I guess I’ll just lock it until OP obeys rule 2 and changes the title.

Cralder,

I mean OP just said “nah” when asked to follow the rules. That would be enough for me to remove the post but then again I’m not the mod

shinigamiookamiryuu,

I hope you don’t, it’s one of those questions that I couldn’t feel more relevant to.

To answer OP, Zootopia said it best.

“If the world is only going to see a fox as shifty and untrustworthy, there’s no point in trying to be anything else.”

~ Nick Wilde

Catch-22’s form when people become stuck in their ways towards each other and are self-fulfilling. This is why standing up for oneself is inferior to sitting down for oneself. I’ve discussed how a previous question of mine can be said to touch upon this, though nobody seems to have understood it. Absolute thinking is the most socially destructive mindset.

GyozaPower, in What do you want for Christmas?

I’d wish for a Steam Deck, but what I need more (and will probably buy) is a nice backpack.

fruitycoder, in What are your "poor person" money life hacks?

Remember a lot of effort and money is spent into brainwashing us from young ages to be constantly be buying shit we don’t need and to feel like we are living bad lives if we don’t have it.

Remember it’s bullshit, remember that you are more than the fucking trinkets and landfill filling they want you to trade all your time for.

Boycott shit, find any reasonable moral cause as a good reason not to buy something. There’s almost always a good reason not to buy something that you don’t need.

SeabassDan,

I feel like it would take just as much effort and basically a whole other upbringing, in a sense, to become accustomed to all the things we were raised with. So i get what you mean, but I dont know exactly how possible it really is, or none of us would really be here, for example.

fruitycoder,

For sure, to me it’s just take every step you can, nothing is ever perfect.

fruitycoder, in What are your "poor person" money life hacks?

My work made me get dress clothes, my solution was thrift shop bargain bin, just pick the clothes you like as long as they fit or are too big, and get them fitted.

It was cheeper then going to Walmart and getting worse clothes.

BilboBargains, in What is your favorite hobby?

I like making and repairing stuff. Currently repairing a wheelbarrow and creating a contraption out of two defunct mountain bikes that will carry logs and other heavy loads.

Immersive_Matthew, in What is your favorite hobby?

My hobby turned into my career. I have been slowly Imagineering an entire VR Theme Park.

Leg,

That sounds badass!

Immersive_Matthew,

It has been the most rewarding work experience of my life. Still seems like a dream. I hope everyone can find their passion as AI frees up our time.

AgentGrimstone, in What are your "poor person" money life hacks?

Make a youtube compilation channel and profit off of other people’s content.
