Hairyblue, in The best thing about Baldur's Gate 3's companions is that they keep getting in your way

I read up until the point about spoiling act 2. But I like the part I read.

I like dragon age and think it is a good comparison to BG3. Lots of choice.

I am enjoying the companions so far but I am still early in the game. Act 1.

dingsbums,

I’m deep into act 3 now and this game does not pull punches. I’m loving it (even if it hurts sometimes)

spoiler.If you want to talk her back from the edge, you need to succeed on either a whopping DC 30 or a DC 21 persuasion check. If you can’t do that, you either need to kill her, let her leave your party for good, or allow her to go through with spearing the Nightsong.

spoiler.I experienced this is not always the case. My Shadowheart threw away the spear both when I encouraged her to do so successfully and when I just told her I had her back however she decides. Only in case of encouraging violence did she kill the Nightsong, so it might also depend on your previous interactions. I’m playing a good druid with Shadowheart as a LI.

Skyhighatrist,

Just an FYI, reddit style spoilers don’t work on lemmy. To do a spoiler use this syntax:

<span style="color:#323232;">::: spoiler caption
</span><span style="color:#323232;">spoiler goes here
</span><span style="color:#323232;">:::

Ah yes. Headline spoilers. Why not?

Question. When you first learn that he’s a vampire it looks like he is ABOUT TO bite you. But during the dialogue I noticed that bite marks showed up on my neck. So, I kicked him out because fuck you for biting me while I sleep. But then the marks went away right away.

Dis he bite me or was that a bug?

The acting is top grade. I have see several big stars who acted in this game for us too. Love this.

Pictures of Minsc are a spoiler. I’m still waiting on the Mac version to release and already knew, but I’m sure some people would prefer to remain unaware that our favourite ranger from the original games is back with his miniature gigantic space hamster buddy.

Kolanaki, in A Baldur's Gate 3 bug is cutting off 1,500 lines of evil companion content, but the next patch will bring them back
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

Well shit… I had just started an evil run the other day (literally last save is about to go into the gobbo camp to snag Minthara and fuck shit up). But now I think I’ll just wait for the patch :/

Edit: Yay it’s here! Time to go be a bad bitch 😎 Damn Larian! I expected this to take like a week from the announcement. Love ya!

Hairyblue, in Baldur's Gate 3 has ruined Starfield for me

I haven't played Starfield. But I have been amazed at the depth of Baldur's Gate 3. You can see the handcrafted world every where you look. And this makes a world you enjoy spending time in.

This is an interesting take. I adore Skyrim and just yesterday started playing BG3. I am enjoying it, but I never did anything else with DND (parents thought it would make Jesus sad or whatever) and so I am finding it more complex from the get-go than I would like, but I’m trying to learn. I still do feel like I’m missing out on a lot by just going with “whatever” and not putting enough thought into character creation, spells, etc, but it’s a lot to learn and I’m only 1 day in :)

Skyrim, on the other hand, was very easy to pick up, start playing, and just…explore and discover. Because of that, I was eagerly anticipating Starfield but sadly I do not possess the platform required to play it so I am reading the reviews to see if it’s worth buying an entire XBox for. If it’s as great as Skyrim, yes. If it’s meh, no.

So, reviews like this make me wonder if the author enjoys and/or is already familiar enough with the steep learning curve for it not to get in the way and by extension the game itself. Would they have been fine with Starfield had they never played BG3? And is Starfield “simple” enough for me to have a great time, or is it too much of what the author complains about here? - Repetitive quests, limited choices, etc?

It’s a hard question to answer, and the stakes are higher for me because of the console thing. I guess I could send the console back at least if the game isn’t for me? Idk.

It’s not fair for the rest of the Triple A games this year.

BG3 is a hard act to follow considering it was molded from the wishes of players for several years before release.

Bethesda games have always been incredibly shallow. How is there anyone that doesn’t see this?

Silverseren,

The problem is people defending the games as perfect 10/10 GOTY. And just the general gamers who get super whiny and mad if anyone complains about anything in Starfield, saying that's just the "Bethesda genre".

And people romanticizing bugs like it’s something good

This starfield is so buggy it sucks!

What? Bugs are part of the experience, it’s a Bethesda game!!!

It’s kind of amazing to me that Larian bumped up the release of BG3 by a month on PC because they didn’t want to compete against Starfield (and given the two big patches, maybe they could have put that extra month to good use), and it turns out it was Bethesda that should have been the one worried.

Bishma, in Save scumming is disgusting! Buut....
@Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

Is it save scumming if I periodically shoot Volo through the heart then reload?

ulu_mulu, in I forgot to go back for Lae'zel, is it too late?

I did something similar, ran into her cage, convinced to tieflings to go away but I didn’t realize at first you can use a ranged weapon to free her (yeah I’m that noob lol) so I went away to search for crates to climb on. As soon as I left the area the quest was completed, she was no longer there.

As I understand it, she freed herself and you will find her quite later on to join you (after mountain pass) - assuming you convinced to tieflings to not kill her, in that case she’s not lost, you’ll have another chance.

I personally reloaded a previous save to free her myself.
