I love democracy

CarolinaBlues,

Spezmusk would classify this as an act of the landed gentry!

Sounds like they were just making up rules as they went.

bane_killgrind,

My ex did that, worked herself into knots making everything the wrong thing.

This is the way

Dlg, in Businesses can discriminate against their customers? Alright then...

Not cool for either party.

FinnFooted,

Because “they go low we go high” has been working sooooo well.

Playing by different rules means the fascists win.

Aurix,

I didn't know the reference, it was to this: https://youtu.be/4jXEuIHY9ic

arin, in [REPOST] Our head of IT needed a new password, and an explanation of due process

Sounds pretty fake, she can directly call anyone who reports to her as she manages them, they have the admin privilege to reset passwords for her. I also work in IT.

BaconIsAVeg,

I'm not sure you understand how outsourcing works ...

arin,

You don't just have one head of IT managing all the outsourcing in a 50k company LMAO

DarkenLM,

I've seen some pretty fucked up teams in IT. If she burned the wrong bridges, she can be all kinds of fucked.

Yeah, pissing off IT people can easily backfire badly.

Sexy pics of John Oliver is better than 90% of the stuff posted there anyways. Glad to see them sticking it to Reddit, though.

I hope all the subs have a variation on this.

SpaceNoodle,

Hope in one bucket and shit in the other.

Let me know which one fills up first.

That being said: fuck /u/spez

LetterboxPancake,

Why a variation? What's wrong with sexy John Oliver?

Lichtblitz,

Nothing. Are you saying there is something wrong with badass John Oliver? Or with evil John Oliver? Stop typecasting him. He is more than just his sexy looks!

kinther, in [REPOST] You can't continue working from home because you go idle in chat too often
@kinther@lemmy.world avatar

The 40 hour work week is outdated. I could easily get away with a 32 hour work week and get all of my work done. Here I am having been doing it the hard way and actually moving my mouse cursor every 10 minutes so my laptop doesn't go to sleep.

dystop,

Rashnet, in Follow the expense policy to the letter, he said.
@Rashnet@kbin.social avatar

Love the way you worked this against HR. I had a situation kind of like yours once where we got a per diem daily for a hotel and one meal. The company let us keep the leftover money from the per diem until they hired a new manager that insisted we turn in the extra (it wasn't much maybe $5-25). Fine, we all started getting more expensive hotel rooms and spending the rest on food using every cent they gave us. . After about 2 years the guy who made us turn in the leftover money left and we went back to being able to keep the extra money.

eyy,

oh I'm sure that's a common story too!

MrVilliam,

I had a P card and would expense food on the road, so no per diem to worry about. I didn't travel super often, so I would use this opportunity to treat myself on the company dime, choosing food and drink that often went beyond the limits of what we were allowed to get. So I would just pick whatever the fuck I wanted and tell my server/bartender that I was gonna be splitting my solo check: $X on company card, everything else including tip on my personal card. I'd get whiskey or beer or wine and steak or lamb or something like that. I would wind up with excellent meals for like $10 out of pocket. But because I rarely traveled, my company mileage and fuel costs were like 5% of everybody else's in my district, so my monthly expense reports were almost always under $1k (usually more like $300) while everybody else was routinely $5-10k. So thankfully, nobody was dumb enough to give me a slam dunk malicious compliance story haha.

@fennec@feddit.de avatar

I’m a remote employee in a similar position, I also finish my work in about 3-4 hours in any given day (mileage varies). My performance reports have been at a consecutive 100% and I don’t see why I should change my ways. Honestly I don’t give a damn if people think I’m slacking off if I go and do some gardening during the day, if anything finishing my work early just makes me very productive :)

dystop,
@dystop@lemmy.world avatar

as long as you have good bosses who don't see time-in-chair as a metric of performance...

fennec,
@fennec@feddit.de avatar

We use Teams and if I notice that I’ve been on the yellow idle icon for too long I’ll give my mouse a jiggle, at which point I see all my colleagues are on idle too… it’s a very relaxed environment. I hope you can continue working remotely in the future!

PiedPipetter,

The problem with Team is it goes yellow when IT'S idle, not you. That was a big adjustment when we went to Teams, understanding that someone can be furiously working away at their computer while Teams is reporting yellow. You send them a message and BAM it goes green when they see the notification and read your message. Pretty ridiculous, really, since the bulk of the software is all Microsoft...why can't Outlook tell Teams, "Hey, she's writing an email, the icon says green, silly."

dystop,
@dystop@lemmy.world avatar

I think the standard trick is to use the "Away" status permanently, so it'll never switch you to Idle!

velovix, in Pretty funny indeed (Crossposter note: thought it would fit here very well)

The law requires that schools hang up “In God We Trust” signs, but I don’t believe it requires them to hang up every sign that is donated to them.

visak,

Yeah, I don’t read it as “must display every poster”. It says it has to be displayed in a prominent place in each building and that it has to be donated or purchased with donated funds. capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/87R/…/SB00797I.htm
