Harder than expected. B, would be my #1.
But they are monsters, so probably D

JiraiyaIsNoLyah, in those ppl...

The part of Reddit that I DO miss are the video subs. Like WTF, mildly interesting, why were they filming, etc. From my understanding, let me isn’t able to host videos but why not drop links to vids🤷🏿‍♂️

perishthethought,

Some of us do post links to videos. Check out these communities:

Alternative Nation

Full Movies On Youtube

(I dont know how to type proper links)

SuperSpruce,

I loved r/idiotsInCars and r/idiotsOnBikes, the videos would be so funny and the discussions around them were great.

Zana,

Every time I felt like I wasn’t the best driver I would go there and feel so much better about myself.

muddi, in The History Channel logic

Honestly I see it in actual historians too. Texts always have something along the lines of “yes, the [insert non-European civilization] had _, but only Europeans went far enough to _”

Shit like how ancient civilizations had invented calculus, calculated pi to several digits, observed the cosmos, etc. but it’s only the ancient Greeks who contributed to history apparently. Seems unprofessional as hell. It’s not that dissimilar to white supremacists who say " everyone practiced slavery, but only Europeans abolished it"

It’s often linked to some geographic or cultural uniqueness of Europe, like how they didn’t have famines or shit and so they were able to be creative about nature that wasn’t chaotic and devastating.

UlyssesT,

" everyone practiced slavery, but only Europeans abolished it"

The same chuds will froth and foam about The Lost Cause, too. Because it was terrible that it was abolished but also abolishing it (except for prisoners) was great white wisdom morshupls

sooper_dooper_roofer,

MFW 80% of pink pipo wouldn’t exist if a Chinese guy didn’t invent the heavy plow

(possibly the biggest China L ever undertaken)

It’s often linked to some geographic or cultural uniqueness of Europe, like how they didn’t have famines or shit and so they were able to be creative about nature that wasn’t chaotic and devastating.

That just makes it even more embarrassing that they had to import all their math from the east

Even funnier the Vienna Hbf has Australian flags ourside and not Autrian ones

hdnsmbt,

It doesn’t. (Hbf is short for Hauptbahnhof, the main station)

azimir,

Could they have been EU flags? Still a field of blue with stars like the Australian flag.

txmyx,

No, its true. I had too much time and used Google Street View: https://feddit.de/pictrs/image/c086a8c2-2d45-4b4c-ba20-2fb8c26798be.jpeg

EuroNutellaMan,
@EuroNutellaMan@lemmy.world avatar

Are you telling me they removed them? Cause tgat would be sad I laughed for about 5 minutes when I left the station and saw the Australian flag

hdnsmbt,

Maybe there was some Australia-themed event when you were there but they don’t put foreign flags up as a joke. Was the Australian flag the only flag you saw?

EuroNutellaMan,
@EuroNutellaMan@lemmy.world avatar

no also New Zealand, Ukraine and EU.

What you’re saying truly disappoints me and I will hate the discount germans even more because of it.

hdnsmbt,

Sounds like you just saw a bunch of flags and had a funny thought, no?

There are much better reasons to hate Austrians than not going for, to be honest, not that great of a joke.

EuroNutellaMan,
@EuroNutellaMan@lemmy.world avatar

Oh I have plenty of reasons to hate em alright but this one was personal

VantaBrandon, in those ppl...

Not sure exactly when it happened, but sometime in the past 3-4 years reddit just became not-reddit. It seemed to draw a more Facebook-esque audience than in prior years. There is still some good content there, but its simply not what it used to be.

    I go on reddit for the TeachingUK sub and for the rugbyunion sub.

    If those communities existed here in any meaningful way then I’d be done with reddit properly at this point.

    @Tedrow@lemmy.world avatar

    I don’t know if this is true, but it does make me feel better!

    LetMeEatCake,

    It’s not true, I saw a different meme on it the other day and looked it up. This came about because some company made an advertisement at Salzburg Airport that looked kind of like a help desk tag for someone that mistakingly flew to Austria instead.

    The giveaway here is that it’s Salzburg, not Vienna. International flyers into Austria are almost universally going to end up in Vienna by default. Vienna’s airport sees ~20x the annual passenger count.

    some_guy,

    Well, I rarely downvote, but disinformation gets it every time. Thanks for clearing that up.

    Moonrise2473, (edited )

    Paywall. Isn’t stupid for an article like this? It’s a curiosity that attracts many people from the world. That page is designed to just be ad-supported. Nobody living outside Austria would ever subscribe to “the local - Austria” just because it’s curious about a meme/ad.

    Why even bother writing that article if nobody can read it

    Link fixed: archive.ph/wVNt5

    relevants, in Well I feel better now.

    Huh…? Salzburg is pretty small and so is its airport. What route would you have to take that you end up in a small, barely international airport and not realize at your last transfer that you were in the wrong part of the world?

    Kiosade,

    Stupid people who put literally no effort or attention to anything they do, ever. Same kind of people that don’t bother to reserve a rental car ahead of time.

    xthexder,
    @xthexder@l.sw0.com avatar

    It’s not like reserving a car ahead of time actually does anything, except maybe get you a discount. Not once has the rental company actually had the right car available for me. Usually I get “upgraded” to an SUV or something that costs me 1.5x in gas over the trip.

    BonesOfTheMoon,

    You’d better give me the insurance because I’m going to beat the hell out of that thing.

    someguy3,

    I got “upgraded” to a Hummer H2. Fuck the fuel consumption on that thing. It was a work trip so I didn’t pay, but still.

    BonesOfTheMoon,

    During COVID lockdowns when the US border was closed, something like 16,000 Americans attempted to go to Canada and were turned back at the border. This was in the news. So I have no trouble believing this.

    kautau,

    Trying to get into Canada during a pandemic and booking a flight to a different country because some letters are off on the country name are highly different things though

    PelicanPersuader, in An industry shouldn't have multiple human rights watch reports about working conditions
    @PelicanPersuader@beehaw.org avatar

    People in the comments missing the point completely. The solution to animal cruelty is not human cruelty.

    Yes, eating animals is cruel to animals, but meat eating isn’t going away, and being cruel to the people who work in those places isn’t going to stop the industry. It’s just going to physically and mentally harm a lot of underpaid, overworked, poor, immigrant people. People who don’t have healthcare for the injuries they incur working in hazardous places, for corporations who see them as just replaceable parts of a machine. Being harmed working in these plants isn’t going to result in fewer animals dying or better conditions for the animals we kill. It’s just more senseless harm.

    alottachairs,
    @alottachairs@beehaw.org avatar

    Clarifying question, are you saying shutting down slaughter houses is human cruelty?

    Unanimous_anonymous,

    No. They’re saying that slaughter houses don’t appear to be going away in the near future since there is a still a fervent demand for meat, so the answer of “just shut them down” isn’t a valid solution yet. They should be removed of human cruelty until we can fully remove them.

    alottachairs,
    @alottachairs@beehaw.org avatar

    So the answer provided is no answer at all? We need to close any factory that operates with cruelty. There is no acception to be made.

    Unanimous_anonymous,

    Assuming you aren’t being purposefully obtuse, the answer is to make them safe and suitable environments for people to work in. You can figure out a way to punish the company who is creating these conditions, but for the time being, the answer is to make them reasonable to work in.

    alottachairs,
    @alottachairs@beehaw.org avatar

    Im not sure how saying “we need to shut down a factory that operates with human suffering” is obtuse.

    Unanimous_anonymous,

    It’s obtuse because it’s not like another one is going to crop up in the same town in the same day to give the workers jobs, nor is it going to solve the issue of regulating the industry properly. The people enforcing the policies need teeth, and those teeth should be able to bite at the people causing these conditions. Places get like this because 3rd party inspection is underfunded and underpowered. Shutting a place down means it cuts into profits while potentially cutting off workers’ incomes. It doesn’t mean the owners or board get significantly impacted.

    PelicanPersuader,
    @PelicanPersuader@beehaw.org avatar

    No. Having inhumane conditions for the workers is cruelty.

    alottachairs,
    @alottachairs@beehaw.org avatar

    Yes, so wouldnt shutting them down be good? We dont need slaughterhouses. I get meat “isnt going away” but if we should shut down facilities that operate with human cruelty.
