Yes it is immoral, they should be rehabilitated instead
But society also needs to fix its dystopia because some crimes where committed out of necessity for example stealing food when you’d otherwise die and their was no way of getting free food
Crimes of necessity don’t need to he rehabilitated because people are forced to commit them due to their current living position
But society isn’t profiting from the labor. It is private businesses, right? There is such a thing in the US as communal or public service as sentence for a crime I am sure but from what I gathered prison labor is not that.
I’d be morally okay if a certain amount of hours of public service would be part of a sentence for crimes which left a debt to society. Such as tax fraud or destruction of public property etc.
Fully agreed. Stuff like, you have to work for the government park corp and clean up parks as your job for the next year is a form of sentencing I could agree with. I don’t agree with random company 400 getting to use you as a slave being your sentence.
I always fail to use my vacation throughout the year so this is when I am off on Monday and Friday for 4-5 weeks. Going back to a 5 day week in January really sucks.
There’s a reason why most corporations try to keep a squeaky clean appearance to the public. They’re trying to make money. It baffles me why Elon thinks public perception doesn’t apply to him or his corporations. It’s like he thinks the world is comprised of halfwit tech bros that will lap up any old bit of garbage that comes out of his mouth. Yes, freedom of speech is vital for democracy, but not everyone is required to agree with you or pay you money because you think you are right. A critical short coming of many narcissists.
Nope, just told I don’t want to work for Elon when I was asking what company is this work description for. The name X is so confusing that I was wondering if this is X/twitter or if the recruiting company was trying to hide the name of their client. Took like 2-3 LinkedIn messages to be sure it was twitter/X.
Glad they got the feedback that people don’t want to work for the baby king! SWE here, I wouldn’t ever working for one of his companies or really any of the top tech places , but I also have full imposter syndrome so none of them would want me either 😂
The short comment I posted should be classified as a quip.
What it actually insinuated is there is a very short list of operating and maintenance procedures for toilets. If you are to the point of closing the lid to contain odors, some of those basic steps might be getting missed. Hence, the quip.
Don’t forget the impending population disaster (because they never feel the touch of another person these days, their government literally has to try and encourage them to drink just so they’ll fuck already- and can’t stand immigration) and all those depressed young people using seemingly everything from the slopes of Mount Fuji to their own apartments as log-off locations, and then nobody noticing their bodies for months.
Not to mention the impending massive economic crisis they’re about to go through - Japanese automotive industry is heavily in debt and watching China eat their lunch. While China was building battery plants and electric cars, Toyota was chasing hydrogen and other go-nowhere technologies.
This is actually a good question that people may not read into very well, and the OP probably knows but didn’t indicate: Humans have a circidian rhthym which is a component that indicates when you naturally want to wake up and sleep. Thoughout our lives it changes at different points, but the important point is that for teenagers, they want to be up at night and also wake up later(almost the exact opposite of elderly people).
So trying to make students sleep at 10pm is very difficult vs having school start later to allow classes to better match their sleep cycle.
From an evolutionary point of view, I wonder if it has to do with giving them plenty of evening time for sexual activities. Especially since 30 used to be old age at one point in our past, so teenage years were the childbearing years…
You think that’s confusing? Someone else from my Grandfather’s family, one of his cousins, married someone else from my Grandmother’s family, one of her cousins.
