ImplyingImplications, Red Bean Paste. It’s often sweetened and used as a filling in a lot of Japanese pastries and desserts.
LeadEyes, Ya’ll are missing out. Mochi with red bean paste is amazing. It’s about the sweet and savory combination. Pretty similar to how halva works.

Son_of_dad, It’s all about the way you were raised. I’m just not used to adding sweet directly into the bean paste.
It’s like British beans and Mexican beans, both are beans but their taste and prep is like night and day
