No. No it doesn’t. Israel might be a shitty country built on apartheid and illegal settlements, and netanyahoo might be genociding Gaza via IDF, but that doesn’t mean every individual should be regarded with a blanket statement.
If we judged citizens based on what their government does, I don’t think many of us would come out clean. As an American, I don’t want the whole world thinking that I agree with what the Feds are up to all the time. I recommend extending that same courtesy to people in countries who’s government you don’t like as well.
Fossify forked all the Simple Mobile Tools apps and are working on open source, free and ad-free apps with that as the foundation. They have published a few already, Launcher is in the pipeline: github.com/FossifyOrg/Launcher
20 years ago there would have been an outrage. Today, people are fine with it. I don’t understand that shit. Yet those same people were quick to jump on byte dance, because china.
There should be rules and regulations across the board, un- influenced by bribes lobbying.
I haven’t found one that I like as much. My biggest hangup, and this is probably dumb, is the ability to edit the icons for PWAs so they don’t show the stupid browser icon that screams “I’m a web shortcut!!!”. I tried Hermit as a PWA/lite app replacement and Android just slaps the hermit badge on it instead. For whatever reason that annoys me enough to stick with Nova.
Could shove it in a folder and then make the tap action open the first item in the folder, then set the folder icon to whatever your want. Disadvantage is that if it’s already in a folder you can’t do that because it would require nested folders
Not a bad idea. I get picky about aesthetics though. Dumb, I know. But I’ll give it a try. Just seems silly to me that default launchers can’t manage editing the dang app shortcuts
edit: Samsungs OneUI launcher does not put the badge on a PWA. But I’m not sure I trust them any more than Nova at this point…
It seems F-droid won’t accept the new versions, as the Suite has been acquired over a month ago and they haven’t accepted any new versions, all Simple apps I’ve checked haven’t been updated for 3-4 months; in fact, I can’t find Simple Gallery there anymore at all.
Huh, perhaps the problem is on my end then? But I can neither find it by searching the repository, nor is it on the list of my installed F-Droid apps, even though all the other Simple apps are there. And I’m 100% certain I’m not using the Play Store version.
I’m not sure, it seems others can’t find it either. My own simple gallery works fine and without the new stuff everyone is complaining about here (I got it from f droid, so that’s why). Maybe it’s because it can’t take down the page for a downloaded app?
Simple Gallery hasn’t and couldn’t have received the privacy-intruding update yet, as its last update was in October, according to the data on Play Store, i.e. before the acquisition. People are complaining about Simple Messenger, for now.
My own install of Gallery is from F-Droid, just as yours, yet I don’t see it there anymore. It’s not visible on the F-Droid website, unlike e.g. f-droid.org/en/…/com.simplemobiletools.keyboard/
Maybe you can see it if you’re using some repository other then the default one? Or your repository data hasn’t been updated recently? Idk, just guessing.
Bad but expected given that they are Chinese based. I use several of their cameras but only after kepping them isolated from the Internet and segmented from the rest of my network. I only access the streams from my NAS which in turn access the camera streams from a dedicated NIC.
Depends on compression/image quality/resolution x number of cameras. That said, I think my previous setup was using a 2TB for eight 1080p cameras. I believe that maintained about a month of footage with motion detection.
I mean it makes sense for error reporting. Lots of apps automatically report errors so that they can be detected easily, which would require internet access.
i mean google would have it anyway; and the app developer would be collecting the logs any way so the cost would be there already. this would just make it so they wouldn’t need to request full network access; just enough to get the logs.
So the biggest issues in Spain over the last years is kids watching porn? Really? Spain has been through a shitstorm and this is what they think of. This is just an excuse to generalise the use of digital identity certificates for all the stuff they want.
this isn’t even a left or right thing, since its government is an amalgamation of left parties
In communism there’s no space for the concept of family / family unit as there’s with the center-right and right-wing ideologies. To communists, or any other extremist regime, children are mostly state property that must be indoctrinated as soon as possible to follow the leadership’s mindset otherwise the system wouldn’t work.
Communism is all about state property in all aspects of life. You simply selling people the ideia that everything belongs to everyone (there’s no private property) and that everything should be shared when in fact what you’re trying to do is to instate an extremist government, very similar to a fascist one, that will take control over everything.
It’s good to be communist when you’re on top and I’m sure Hitler felt the same. Not so good when you’re the working class.
Wait, how come you don’t know who Alexandra Kollontai is? I’m not even anything left leaning and I know about her and her works. And yes she does have very good point, as do a lot of communist but still paints an image of communist and family. Here’s a good example:
Working mothers have no need to be alarmed; communist not intending to take children away from their parents or to tear the baby from the breast of its mother
That’s fair, yet a few lines bellow:
Society will feed, bring up and educate the child (…) Communist society will take upon itself all the duties involved in the education of the child
So you start by saying that the communists don’t want to take children away but then proceed to bring up and educate. That’s kind of suspicious.
To be fair, that could’ve even been true at some point. I see that a lot of the communist ideologies only work if seen from the right angle (ironic) and with good intentions, however what are really communist groups and parties nowadays?
Half of those groups got mixed up with the gender/identity bullshit people - those who end up yelling to politicians about children not getting free gender conversion therapy and whatnot. Those communist groups/parties groups/parties that don’t particularly share their views but agree to “bite the bullet” just for the numbers. Numbers are all fun but this will eventually backfire once those same groups lose their true ideology / identity and become associated with those people and lose all their credibility.
Lawnchair hasn’t had a release since 2018. I find it to be a bit buggy and sometimes won’t redraw the home screens. This makes me need to force close the launcher from the settings. I usually clear the cache too, just to be safe.
Just tempering expectations for anyone else looking at it. If anyone knows of a fork that is more recent let me know. Maybe someone else is maintaining somewhere.
