Zoboomafoo, in Concept art for AT-ST, by Joe Johnston

I’m not going to go back and check, but as I recall the AT-ATs only ever moved one leg at a time in the film, I guess they couldn’t get two to work

@setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world avatar

They have a natural elephant-like walk cycle, but they do move slowly which might give the appearance of one leg at a time if you aren’t looking too closely.

youngalfred, in The Best And Worst Star Wars Blasters

Excellent write-up!
It just shows how wrong they got the first order. It’s meant to be remnants of the Empire, surviving in the shadows on the rim, yet they have completely new:

  • armour.
  • guns.
  • space ships.
  • Heavy machinery (the gorilla AT-ATs etc).
  • Giant star killer far more powerful than the Empire at it’s height.

None of which makes sense for a remnant group - it should be a patch work of past things. The white details on their guns are just further examples of how out of place the first order is.

Definitely agree on your criteria for iconic blasters!

reddig33, in Hot take, but I think World Devastators are neat.

Which graphic novel or comic is that in the first picture?

The Dark Empire series. I’m not sure precisely what issue.

im_mr_clean, (edited ) in Best fan cuts and edits of the movies, specifically 1-3?

You want Topher Grace’s edit:

insidethemagic.net/…/that-70s-show-actor-creates-…

And yes, it’s the same Topher Grace of “That 70’s Show” and “Spiderman 3”.

Unfortunately it’s pretty hard to find. I haven’t looked very hard for a while, but if I see an easy link I’ll leave another comment.

Varyk,

Wow, 85 minutes seeeeems short. I do like topher Grace, though, I believe he’d do a good edit. Have you seen the 85 minute prequel cut?

im_mr_clean,

I saw the trailer for it he released and supposedly there was a release of the whole thing but it’s impossible to find on mainstream sites. His five min edit of all the movies was quite good too. Like a long trailer for the whole story.

Varyk,

Not so much hard to find as never released, it sounds like?

Which makes sense of course.

im_mr_clean,

Yeah that does seem to be the case. Im probably misremembering the details as it was ten years ago that I first heard about it.

nightwatch_admin, in Ani-morph (Jedi Quest book)

My poor old eyes, that font is c***. I also legit thought it said “destined for confuct” and I was confused.

rikudou,
@rikudou@lemmings.world avatar

So you were confucted, huh?

nightwatch_admin,

Thank you! Why did I not think of this myself?

pimento64,

I really don’t see anything cunt about the font or face

TexMexBazooka, in AT-AT cutaway

Anybody got a version of this with some more pixels?

setsneedtofeed, (edited )
@setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world avatar

Sorry I know the resolution for the text isn’t great. If this was a book in my collection I’d had take a few close up shots. But the art was too good not to share.

altima_neo, in AT-AT cutaway

The toe actuators seem overbuilt and overcomplicated

Peppycito,

Check out all the other parts.

Jackcooper, in AT-AT cutaway

Forgot to mention it walks like a goofy camel

guidothekillerpimp, (edited ) in AT-AT cutaway

Where does the woodoo hide go?

setsneedtofeed,
@setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world avatar

It’s donated to the Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction Center.

Waldowal, in BETRAYAL - Star Wars: Order 66 Short Film (Seriously it's really good)
@Waldowal@lemmy.world avatar

Very well done. The trooper voices sound exactly like Temuera Morrison. Enough so I’m wondering if this will attract a legal issue.

aeronmelon, in Star Wars Ahsoka: Who is Grand Admiral Thrawn? - article from the Star Wars Thoughts blog

He’s blue, dabba dee dabba die.

The angle makes it look like he’s got a huge dump truck

xspurnx, in Battle of Hoth - The Empire Strikes Back concept art by Ralph McQuarrie (1978)

That Tauntaun looks really cool.

setsneedtofeed,
@setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world avatar

It’s a lot more lizard-like. Very expressive.

sheridan, in Behind the scenes while taking a break during Empire Strikes Back
@sheridan@lemmy.world avatar

Vader’s helmet looks so big in this shot.

Sludgehammer, in Carrie Fisher making a snowball behind the scenes of Empire Strikes Back

Truly a dangerous weapon, not even a lightsaber can fully block it.
