It would be really cool if you could use a compressed air tank that you can recharge with a bike pump. Something like this has a max of 200psi and is refillable with a shrader valve. More upfront cost but but you don’t have to buy CO2 cartridges.
I think part of the appeal of the espresso maker this guy DIYed is that it has no pump/electrical components. Less points of failure and cheaper to make, cost seems to be a driving factor in his design. A bike pump is a fairly common thing for someone to own.
Great news everyone! Hopefully the system works well and other cities will follow suit. I know in the USA (in the few places we do have public transit) the argument for keeping fares is always 1.we don’t want to pay taxes for that and 2.if we charge that’ll keep the vagrants from using it. Two arguments that make no sense at all, 1. We already pay taxes for the public transit, why pay more to actually use it? And 2.anyone who has used public transit knows the fare doesn’t keep vagrants out.

A few weeks ago I shipped a package USPS and I wanted to track it’s progress. I googled USPS tracking and clicked on the first link that popped up. The search result looked like the USPS website and said USPS .com and had the same preview text that the actual website used but it was actually a Google ad that redirected me to supertracking .com. This fake website looked exactly like the USPS tracking website, the domain the web browser displayed was wrong but everything on the page was right, the buttons on the bottom and top even sent you back to the official USPS site. The fake site was set up so that no matter what you entered it would say the address was wrong and you had to update it for a $1.50 address update fee. I would have grown suspicious here except I actually did put the wrong zip code down when I shipped it. Again all the forms looked legit so I put my credit card info in after updating the address, then it wanted me to confirm my bank account login and pin. This is where I stopped because there is no reason for them to collect that data. I saw it was the wrong website and looked back in my history and sure enough I clicked on an ad without realizing it. I reported the domain, reported the ad, and cancelled my credit card. It was really scary how real the website felt, I didn’t suspect anything until they wanted bank info.
Other than your carrier give it for free or cheap, I don’t really see the reason why should you buy new phone. I’ve been using Redmi Note 9 for past 3 years and recently got my had on Poco F5. I don’t see the point of my ‘upgrade’. I sold it and come back to my Note 9. Gaming? Most of them are p2w or microtransaction...
Some manufacturers drop support after a few years. It’s usually less frequent than every year but if you were worried about spyware or someone getting all those weird pictures you have saved to your camera roll it could make sense to upgrade for peace of mind.
What are some tips for dealing with solicitors (door-to-door salespeople)? Our neighborhood gets a lot of them.
We have a “No solicitors” sign hanging on the front door. Nevertheless, they knock, ring the doorbell, or worse, yell through the front window when it is open, trying to get our attention.
We have a Ring video doorbell and have enabled the automatic “Sorry, we’re not interested” announcement after 15 seconds. These pushy SOBs ignore the sign and the announcement.
When I ultimately find out they are soliciting and I ask why they ignored both the sign and the doorbell announcement, they usually say something like, “I’m not selling anything. I am just working with some people in the neighborhood…” or some such BS.
My wife and I work from home and have had to explain the window shouting to coworkers in meetings. We also have two small children who could be trying to nap at any given time. We have good reasons to not want to be disturbed at home and these assholes disregard that wish.
I will write a negative review online if I find out their name and company they are representing. Any other ways to get these people to leave us alone?
Wow Ive never had anyone yell at me through the window before. But several times I’ve been seen at home by soliciting individuals and I’ve just shut he curtains and not answered the door. If they’re payed at all it’s by the number of people they sign up, they shouldn’t waste much time on someone who clearly doesn’t want to buy into what they’re selling. If they continue to knock after that you may have to open the door ant tell them youre not interested and to leave your property/stop harassing you. Depending on local laws if you document asking them to leave and they keep at it you can try calling the police on them for harassment. Or you could just call the police right away and claim that they’re trying to kick down your door and youre scared for your life. Should get a quick response and will quickly let everyone in the neighborhood know not to knock on your door. Just be careful nkt to cry wolf too much.
For me, it's a bidet toilet seat. I bought one that didn't really fit as well as I hoped, so now I am shopping for a v2 based on experience. I don't want to live without one going forward. That's for sure.
My cordless drill. I didn’t think I’d need one because I never did a lot of things that required me to drill or screw things together. But now that I have it I can’t go back. I’ve found so many uses. I’d definitely recommend getting a nice driver bit set with one, if you ever put together furniture from a store like Ikea, a nice hex bit makes it go so much faster.
i feel like this would be a good thing to pick up also if i make something i could possubly sell it locally, maybe and i could use the money to but more craft supplys or things that are needed. ive also been wanting to be more creative lately but im not sure how or what to make, got any ideas by chance i tried selling posters...
In my experience there is already such a wealth of professional and hobby products out there that it's impossible to break into the market. Find something you like and just do it as a hobby if you can recoup any of the cost selling what you make that's great but it shouldn't be the main focus. The worst thing that can happen to a hobby is it becoming a job.
