Most shops have online presence. You can easily compare the price of tinfoil rolls using Google translate.

As it was explained to me, it’s so that customers can feel superior to the workers that have to stand and suffer. People who can sit while they work aren’t really “working”.

It didn’t really make sense to me either, but there you are.

You can always buy the golden remastered cinematic ultimate edition that’s part of this collector edition of 12 movies for 355 dollars. It’s a great deal, really.

Walking Desk Is More Annoying Than A Standing Desk (hackaday.com)

I feel like there was a missed opportunity to use some of the spare computing power on the desk to add some helpful navigational autonomy. Like using a backward facing web camera for lane assist, obstacle avoidance, route following, etc. Could leverage something open source like Autoware.org to get most of the way there....

I bought a Mac laptop once and lasted about 3 months before running back to Linux. Mac OS may be great for some people, but it’s definitely not for everyone. It was also hell to pull my photos out of their damn software.

The machine was ok though.

Being able to be called Unix just means paying for certification. No more, no less.

How do y'all deal with programs not supported on Linux?

I’ve been seeing all these posts about Linux lately, and looking at them, I can honestly see the appeal. I’d love having so much autonomy over the OS I use, and customize it however I like, even having so many options to choose from when it comes to distros. The only thing holding me back, however, is incompatibility issues....

I switched to Linux from Windows 3.11 because Microsoft software didn’t do what it was supposed to.

My method is that I don’t even know what’s available for Windows, so I don’t miss it at all. The opposite isn’t true though, and time spent in a Microsoft environment can quickly become painful.

My only regular contact with Windows is the Steam partition which hasn’t been used for quite some time. I have a laptop that has a small win11 partition that I boot every now and then to see what they’re up to these days.

However, in the end, the only real answer is that if you really need a piece of software, you just run whatever system that supports it. It’s not a religion, you use whatever is convenient for you at a given time.

I’m more interested in something that has an actual hardware and software ecosystem. I’m no longer interested in soldering my computer and it’s peripherals together.
