BilboBargains,

Using vehicle velocity as risk assessment method is fucking dumb. Might as well put that copper to better use.

BilboBargains,

I’m in a similar boat to you regarding mental healthcare. The reason we don’t complain as much as we ought to is because we don’t have much to compare. Our system looks equitable next to America but that one really is the worst. Our healthcare is orders of magnitude worse than our European neighbours, in almost every metric. In Slovakia you don’t need to beg them to see a psychiatrist and wait months or years while the NHS gaslights you. You say, I feel bad and I want to speak to a specialist. That’s it. You get your treatment.

British society is breaking down. We would rather wave flags for an ultra privileged royal family or invade sovereign nations or build aircraft carriers, than take care of our own health. These people are bigoted and hypocritical morons who chose to leave the EU, even though this is the only institution that is safeguarding their rights.

BilboBargains,

Hand egg

BilboBargains,

They’re actually finely calibrated stones. For instance, my weight is 13 stones and a packet of gravel.

BilboBargains,

It’s nice to meet another great humanitarian. People don’t realise the sacrifices we make in order to safeguard the public from accidental masturbators.

BilboBargains,

I love comedy podcasts, The Jeselnek and Rosenthal Vanity Project, a favourite. His style is dark humour and it seems that a significant proportion of the audience actually believe some of the things he jokes about. I think it’s one of the reasons they rarely field audience questions and never phone calls.

BilboBargains,

These trees are some of the most fascinating, awe inspiring and majestic life forms I’ve ever had the privilege to witness. I planted three of them in a field (a big space is required) and it makes me happy to think that one day there could be this enormous trio breaking the skyline. I’ll be long gone but they are growing crazy fast already.

BilboBargains,

This email should have stayed in Draft for a few hours and then come back to remove all the expletives. At least Mauro has something to hang on the wall of his crapper.

BilboBargains,

It’s what I think on the rare occasions I get a look at my wife’s genitalia.

BilboBargains,

You will never reap the rewards of being trapped under water for hours with that kind of attitude.

BilboBargains, (edited )

There is no relationship between what you earn and your skill level. If there were, theoretical physics would be a top paying field. The reason is, this is capitalism and we are horrible negotiators. If you want to earn top money in a technical field, the best you can do is insert yourself in a revenue stream. Roles that are critical to revenue like a billing system or associated with a intrinsically valuable commodity e.g. petrochemical, are more lucrative than other similarly skilled professions.

BilboBargains,

Is the collective noun for COBOL programmers, cobblers?

BilboBargains,

Efficient at what, making profit for themselves?

BilboBargains,

If only the British were willing to share their culinary secrets and dental technology, many of the world’s problems could be solved decisively.

BilboBargains,

I create control systems, currently in the automotive industry but the same principles apply to any control system, which is the thing I love about this subject. The skillset is about trimming down a problem to it’s absolute bare essentials. I always wondered what makes machines tick and control theory is the systematic expression of that pursuit. We model the system or phenomena in question and then develop the control in simulation. Once we have the desired result, it is usually realised as a software object that is embedded in a computer.

I started on this path as an unemployed and disillusioned 32 year old engineer, retrained over a period of 2 years and it turned out to be a huge source of fulfillment.

BilboBargains,
  • Facebook
  • Apple
  • All of the defence contractors
  • Every telecom I’ve ever used apart from EE and Giffgaff
  • YouTube
  • Any website that tries to circumvent privacy rules with fuckery
  • Governments like the UK that insist prohition is a better alternative to harm reduction but continue to profit from poisons like alcohol.
  • Any company that makes devices with proprietary interfaces e.g. WiFi printers, BT routers, Apple in general, Tesla, battery power tool manufacturers.
  • The list goes on…
BilboBargains,

The confusing mess that is Windows update feels like the result of a large corporation of many people that are pulling in different directions while they attempt to meet the requirements of users that are completely ignorant and apathetic.

I don’t understand why I need to choose ‘restart and update’. Why can’t this be achieved from shutting down? It’s programmed as if shutting down means I’m never coming back to the machine again. Shutdown is the wrong word, it should say Decommission.
