Make sure you test out those images every so often too. I recently got a new computer and used clonezilla to copy a system over, only to find btrfs restores fail spectacularly without warning until you boot into them.

If only they contributed to the kernel maintenance workload.

What's an alternative to Spotify that doesn't play you the same fucking songs over and over?

I am in an intense love-hate relationship with Spotify. It makes good mixes for me, I have found a lot of great bands that way. BUT IT KEEPS REGURGITATING THE SAME SONGS IN THERE. I know about Song Radios and Artist Radios, so please don’t recommend those. Smart Shuttle doesn’t cut it, either....

That isn’t automix, that’s smart shuffle.

Automix is only enabled on a few playlists, and not Liked songs.

If you’ve ever listened to a dance album where one song merges seamlessly into the next, automix does that. When you hear a playlist using automix it is very noticeable.

Pandora sort of has some of that but not so far in depth. You can customize with crowd favorite songs or hits or deep cuts or discovery. Their library is much smaller though, and you’re stuck in a genre based on the station for the most part.

Currently Gnome will only allow you to connect to a logged in session. It is more like screen sharing than RDP usually is.

The title is. The article itself is pretty generous.

Snap has the ability to do the base system in a much more modular way and could be really cool for an immutable system. Forcing them on desktop users with their transitional deb packages and making it heavily integrated with only one repository really screwed it up.

I imagine they couldn’t get the rights to The Lord of the Rings in order to adapt book 1 of Shannara.

Braid tugging and poorly written female characters aside, a very large number of the interpersonal problems in those books could be solved in anybody ever talked to each other. The nobody ever trusts anybody or talks about an issue gets kind of irritating. Even if he was going for realism it is pretty over the top.

Kind of like how a large number of Seinfeld episodes would be over in five minutes if they had cell phones.

I’ve never watched Disclosure nor finished the book, but it seems like one of the few they should have been able to get right.

I enjoyed Sphere, but I haven’t read the book and watched the movie close enough to compare them.

Sorting algorithm was broken for a while, maybe they fixed it but I got used to using new because it actually worked.

Probably.

Most stalls are bolted together pieces of cheap metal with the most basic latch you can imagine. If an indicator adds 10 cents to the cost it’s not going to happen.

Google also assists those law enforcement agencies with plenty of useful info.

This went in a different direction than I expected, in a good way.

The Guardian has a good article about the tribalism going on right now (theguardian.com/…/us-support-divided-israel-pales…).

Any empathy is seen as a betrayal right now. It’s imo also one of the reasons things are so terrible to begin with.

Google Latitude was doing this in 2009 and I knew millennials who used it. Much more widespread now, though.

Fedora is not a separate legal entity. Red Hat literally owns it. At one time they had considered creating a separate Fedora Foundation but did not.

People who use those characters benefit from it. I imagine 點看 is more useful than xn–c1yn36f to a Chinese person. That’s also why Google displays them that way.

It would be nice if browsers warned when International Domain Names were in use, and provided the option to disable punycode when first encountered.

Business grade will also be chugging along while the enthusiast has replaced the thing five times over.

I really think it depends on the product. People talking about low end keyboards or whatnot aren’t far off, but I’d take a good business laptop any day. It won’t have fancy RGB lights but will keep working forever.

Those workstation GPUs are also usually not very good for gaming, for the same reasons. Optimized for the professional use case and not the enthusiast one.
