Blue_Morpho, to opensource in Raspberry Pi is now manufacturing 70,000 Pi 5s per week, will surge to 90,000 in February

Low end Intel like Gracemount N200 are lower power and higher performance than Raspberry Pi.

Even an old JasperLake is like 24 watts max to Pi5’s 27 watts.

Audio jack ir blaster adapters for phones used to be common. You can still buy them on eBay.

Audio is voltage changes which can be set to drive an ir led. You use an app that outputs audio that matches the ir signal protocol.

Blue_Morpho, (edited ) to asklemmy in What is this wire for?

Yes but nowadays you’d buy a USB version since few phones have headphone jacks. They’re on Amazon.

Here’s an old style headphone jack ir blaster adapter:

No, the last version of my that was vulnerable was 3.5.1 2000 was better than xp for a year after XP came out. You couldn’t even boot XP on a driver bigger than 128GB where 2000 had that bug already patched.

If it actually was easier, I wouldn’t complain. But in most cases, the new settings make it harder to find and change settings.

Weddings have too much going on for anyone to keep track. It’s not a concert. No one is checking for tickets. After the wedding, receptions have assigned seating. But by then, you’d be long gone and planning the next Tolkiened wedding.

Blue_Morpho, to memes in 🧙‍♂️

And it’d be something the bride and groom would have to remember for the rest of their lives every time they put on their rings.

That’s not a very convincing argument to not do that every week at a random wedding.

Q would have said,

“Oh the Husnock? Horrible, simply horrible species. Good riddance. Did you ask me here to give Uxbridge a medal or something? Because he certainly doesn’t deserve it! Why I’ve already genocided three species this morning and didn’t even get a thank you.”

Blue_Morpho, to lemmyshitpost in So, we gotta trick the rich into letting us eat them.

Keeping the same language so no mistranslation is no barrier for religious wars. Shia and Sunni do fine despite both having the Koran in original Arabic.

Blue_Morpho, to risa in Every time I'm trying to decide what new show I should check out

I watch that channel all the time. It’s always been DS9 and Voyager. Is it just DS9 now 24/7?

Blue_Morpho, to risa in Every time I'm trying to decide what new show I should check out

?? Pluto has been streaming DS9 for years. The “More Trek” channel isn’t new either.

Janeway didn’t get hate as much as it was criticism of the writers for making her inconsistent. One week it was “Prime directive no matter the consequences”, the next was “Lets do whatever to make drama.”

For all of Roddenberry’s faults, his presence for the early years of TNG kept TNG consistent instead of allowing the writer of the week to change characters for their personal story. By the time he was gone, the formula was set such that writers wouldn’t mess with characters.

Voyager has no singular authority so consistency of character was rare.

Edit: Except for Ensign Kim. He was born an Ensign and died one. Nobody messed with perfection.

Blue_Morpho, to programmer_humor in “It’s not that hard”

And as stated both have their merits and their faults.

Yes! Just because a compiler could guess the type doesn’t mean it should. Elon didn’t understand the meme at all.

Blue_Morpho, to linux in Microsoft says a Copilot key is coming to keyboards on Windows PCs starting this month

Yeah they didn’t gave a free Office, Outlook or Visual studio. Now they do and there is no sign of them stopping it. Bing is expensive and they aren’t stopping it.

Chatgpt is MS’s first real chance of dethroning Google search. They’re going to keep a free tier forever.
