Catoblepas,

In citrus fruits sometimes ripe fruits will turn orange and then turn green again (either all over or in patches), it’s called regreening. It’s usually due to either chilly night temperatures or high UV exposure, so the same tree might produce completely orange or orange and green or completely green ripe fruit all in the same year.

Kumquats are taxonomically weird and may or may not be citruses, so I’m not sure that’s what’s happening in the OP, but I would guess it probably is.

Catoblepas,

My bad, based on the pic I thought you meant the color!

What are your best air fryer/oven recipes?

My parents got me one of them fancy countertop air fryer/oven things and idk what to cook first when I get it set up. According to the box, it does everything a normal oven does as well as air fries. It can hold two whole chickens or 1 frozen pizza. It came with a rack for things like toast and a baking sheet. I also have a...

Catoblepas,

Specifically talking about the inside walls and glass door, if the wire racks or other accessories look like they need it I take them out and go at them with soap and water. If the wipe down isn’t sufficient for the inside then a wet sponge and a tiny bit of dish soap should be enough, just wipe it with a wet paper towel or something afterwards to make sure all the soap is removed.

It’s incredibly easy to clean up if you do it before using it again. It’s only repeated exposures to heat* that will cause oil to polymerize and become nigh impossible to clean off.

*or temps significantly above what you’re cooking at in an air fryer

Catoblepas,

I was told by my dental hygienist that although you shouldn’t rinse after brushing, you can spit as many times as you want. Your saliva isn’t going to be able to totally rinse off the fluoride the way water will. IME it usually only takes a few extra spits to get from overwhelmingly minty to present but bearable.

Catoblepas,

I think the key phrase there is with someone who knows what they’re doing, ie a therapist. A lot of things people are dealing with feel insurmountable without someone who understands mental health helping you to break it down and figure out what you can change (or not). That’s an oversimplification obviously, but if it was simple nobody would need therapy.

Catoblepas,

How tf did you get that out of a comment about going to therapy and getting professional help?

Catoblepas,

Obviously that’s a much bigger problem and I don’t doubt it happened a ton. From the user standpoint of someone trying to just use the community, it’s incredibly disheartening (especially if you have no IRL community to reach out to) to post, have a post go to 0 or negatives within minutes, and then ignored. When I still used reddit I would frequently see posts from people asking why everything was downvoted so quickly, which probably just encouraged the people who were doing it.

Catoblepas,

The little variations in the text are what make this.

Catoblepas,

You don’t know that Lincoln’s ghost isn’t in the internet!

Catoblepas,

Reusable hand warmers might be practical for you. They stay warm for hours through a chemical reaction, and you reset it by boiling it.

Not the same as a whole body warm, but better than nothing. Sorry you’re having to deal with the cold.

Catoblepas,

Sea lioning is like gaslighting. Very useful concept, extremely overused as an accusation by people who are mad about something.

Catoblepas,

I didn’t see the movie until I was an adult, but I read the book as a 9 year old and loved it. If anything it’s gorier than the movie!

Catoblepas,

Wait til they get to the surprise wasp body parts!

Catoblepas,

Dunno if this is default lemmy behavior but you can filter keywords on Voyager (and I’m sure other clients).

Catoblepas,

That’s basically the process for making paneer, plus draining and pressing.

Catoblepas,

Yeah, he usually just dumps it in and walks away. 🥴

Catoblepas,

The episode where Gus comes back from work with a knife stuck in his head and won’t go to the doctor and tries to just act like everything is normal still makes me die laughing, because my (also gay) husband is the same way.

Catoblepas,

I mean, nicotine does saturate things when you smoke in an enclosed area. It’s impossible to paint over the stained walls of a smoker’s house without chemically stripping them first, because all the accumulated tar will just seep through the paint and leave brown stains. There’s no way that shit’s healthy.

Catoblepas,

I wonder if this is a reflection of the ancestral coloration of giraffes (loss/improper functioning of the genes that give them spots) or a neat individual mutation? I bet the genetics would be fun to look at
