CodexArcanum,

I did briefly misunderstand this meme as being so aggressively anti-ableist as to be pro-color-blindness. The internet has ruined me.

CodexArcanum,

In New Orleans, new year’s day is Ash Wednesday. Nothing from Jan 1st until Valentine’s day counts this year!

It’s from a meme, “Money printer go brrrr” which was I think a spin off of the “It prints money!” meme for the original Wii (Edit: did some research and I think they’re unrelated.) Its the sound of the machine, printing money, it go brrr.

I’ve seen it used for all kinds of things, but “go brrr” is basically a dismissive way of talking about how “winning” something is.

Edit: I think Picard Manuever explains it better actually, and while I don’t think my usage note is untrue from how I’ve seen the meme used in evolutions, I’d have to agree that it originally and usually takes the form they described.

CodexArcanum,

Now that you call it out, I agree! Bale gets a lot of praise for his ability to morph his body for different roles, but is otherwise only alright as an actor. But he happens to be in many great movies with other iconic figures which really elevates his cachet.

Affleck is pretty good. I also really liked Pattenson’s emo sad-Bruce version quite a bit more than I expected to. For me, nothing will ever be as nostalgic and iconic as the Tim/Conroy animated portrayal.

CodexArcanum,

I wish I was eating a big bowl of ticks right now! Sigh, living the dream…

The 1976 arcade game called Death Race (seemingly no relation) is one of the first to ever spark controversy over violence in video games. It’s not too well known today, being almost 50 years old and fairly primitive.

And fun movie fact, Death Race 2000 is Sylvester “Sly, The Italian Stallion” Stallone’s first non-pornographic film role.

CodexArcanum,

Terranigma is one of my favorite SNES games! It is a truly awesome adventure and so underrated!

I played through a lot of fan translations and obscure games when I first discovered emulation. E.V.O Search for Eden is another weird, unique RPG from that era, which I highly recommend!

CodexArcanum,

It was a very cool spiritual successor to the older Ultima Underworld games, which are surprisingly interactive for their time. In many (many) ways they are the precursors to the immersive sim genre, and Arx is an interesting if isolated branch on that family tree.

CodexArcanum,

Not everyone can afford luxury when they’ve got heavy monthly flow.

CodexArcanum,

Once installed, a new team of people would have to maintain it. Mechanics with biotech engineering degrees. Cleaning technicians with advanced degrees in medicine, robotics, and hygiene. Eventually an aftermarket for used jizzbots would form, resulting in cum-puter resellers and replacement part manufacturers. Unlicensed spunkdroid hotrodders overclocking their barely legal Frankenstein fuck factories for orgasms previously inconceivable to the human mind. Soon we’ll all be slaves to the perpetual pussy motion machine, our minds melting into one… unnnnnngggggg… wow, that was a lot to type one-handed, where am I, what’s happening? (jk but this stupid gag really got away from me!)

CodexArcanum,

I think he was saying that if the condom pops the fun stops. Presumably because then you’re worried about STDs, pregnancy, and so on.

But yes, it is funny that the American sex stereotype of men is that that they finish once, quickly, and are then done. Being in more sex positive spaces, the attitude is closer to “orgasms are nice but not the whole point.”

18+ What's your favorite episode of MST3k? (lemmy.world)

I remember one day hearing my father downstairs laughing his ass off. Went down to see what was so funny to find he had just discovered Mystery Science Theater 3000, and was losing it watching The Giant Gila Monster. I sat down to watch. I didn’t really get it then, but I’ve been a fan ever since.

CodexArcanum,

I think Giant Spider Invasion is the first one I ever saw, randomly showing on SciFi channel early one morning. I was dying from laughter, just laying on the floor gasping for breath from laughing so hard. Been a fan ever since!

CodexArcanum,

Sometimes the phrase “he monch butt” will just pop into my head, and I’ll remember this meme and laugh or smile to myself.

It does tend to distract the person who’s ass I’m eating at the time though.

CodexArcanum,

🤣 To think such art and beauty could still exist in our fallen world.

CodexArcanum,

Ooooooo’brien once told me "This station’s gonna roll me Needs new couplings sent to deck 10

Quark was looking pretty glum He and his latinum took a run From some guys with wrinkley foreheads

CodexArcanum,

My dad asked if I could look at a spreadsheet he uses at work, maybe fix a couple of things that he has to manually adjust. This meme is frightfully accurate, the earliest parts of this thing are older than some of the junior devs on my team.

CodexArcanum,

It’s funny how this isn’t even an odd request anymore. Most places will make burgers into lettuce wraps now. I wonder which factors (keto, gluten-free, broader health awareness) or combination of them had the most influence on changing perception about it?

CodexArcanum,

When I was your age, a family size bag fed the entire family. Now I can barely keep one toddler in crispy fried potatoes! What kind of world is this to raise a child in?!

CodexArcanum,

Im a fan as well, their videos are excellent and they often do trips with other cavers, so you can find other small channels through them if people want more “cave content.”

What trips me out is towards the end of each video where they’ll be like, “Alright, Brad is heading back so I’m going to wrap up too. We’ve been in the cave for 12 hours, probably a good time to head up.” 8+ hours of squeezing through cold, dark passages sounds like actual nightmares I’ve had!

CodexArcanum,

I love to watch caving videos: much better for someone younger and foolhardier than me to actually do the climbing and clambering with their gopros. I’ll continue to enjoy things like air, vast open spaces, and vicarious experiences.

People take a lot of safety precautions now, reasonably, but every once in a while the cavers on YT will do something just stupid and it baffles me. “The water’s ice cold and up to my nostrils, but I really want to see where this tunnel goes! Going to turn my lamp and camera off for now to save battery, see you in a few hours!”
