/agree. Well said.

Current trek seems to ignore the origional ‘meta’ of Star Trek, until the ratings are so bad that they overly backpedal and turn it into poor fan service. And because of that, it tells poorly written stories.

Unlike normal army units though, each state or territory has its own national guard unit under the command of the governor.

What’s the chain of command?

Does it stop at the Governor, or does it go from the Governor to the President?

Do they swear an allegiance to the state Constitution, or to the Federal Constitution?

Can we just have a normal, boring year for once, please? I’m so tired…

I’m right there with you.

But at least you can think of this to console you: You’re not actually fighting in a world/civil war, down in some troops trench somewhere, reading this (at least that’s my hope for you).

Other generations have had to go through major wars, but so far we’ve been dodging that bullet, for the most part.

Things could be a lot worse.

Loved your comment, but please, next time use some paragraphs. It was a hard read.

Save the pain and install Nobara.

I mean, it’s one dropdown/checkbox click, to enable codecs sources. I get your point though, having to remember to enable that.

I’d used Nobara if I knew it was being supported by more than just one (great/special; I’m aware of his contribution to gaming on Linux) guy (please correct me if this is no longer the case?), since it would be installed on my daily driver box, and it’s important for me to have a high level of reliability, even though I do more gaming tasks than non-gaming tasks on it.

I’m aware that Nobara is based from Fedora, but am nervous about having a single point of failure, support wise.

Aren’t we all tired of this meme by now? Especially in this new age of Steam deck?

Seems a bit like trolling at this point.

Not everything needs to be rushed. Sometimes the build up makes the conclusion better. Slow the F down.

It shouldn’t take 20 panels to tell a joke.

Seems like it’s not telling a joke, but instead making a statement about Humanity.

Apology for hijacking your comment, but I wanted to ask you a question about the Creative Commons link you put at the end of your comment.

Are you doing that because of people who may use your comments to train AI reasons?

If so, do you think legally that covers it, since it’s a link, and not just the text itself?

In other words, would an AI trainer have to drill into the link before your comment is covered by that clause?

Genocide requires intent.

Is that actually, legally, true?

In other words, does the word identify the cause, or the effect?

Can he really be tried for genocide? It’s hard to say, but I’d say not.

How so? The facts seem self-evident.

It’s all moot anyway. If you have no means or intention to enforce a law, does it really exist?

You can still classify someone though in such a way, in hopes that in some future time you can enforce the law on them, having being previously judged as a criminal.

This is such a weird way of announcing/implementing a $3/month increase for Prime video by Amazon, and a lot more destructive PR-wise too.

Do we really want to be bigger anyway?

YES. It needs more market share to influence companies financially to make products for it.

It’s truly starting to make inroads recently, but it still has a ways to go.

I kind of like where Linux as a desktop isn’t really big enough for all the scammers and malware makers to care.

It’s also not big enough for gaming companies to truly care, unfortunately.

I’m not going to re-buy the same fucking movie I already owned on one streaming platform and have already owned on 2 different formats of physical release.

This is the thing that really pisses me off.

It’s like I’m not paying for the content itself, I’m paying for the media the content is on, over and over again.

I am technically less than 49.999999999 bot.

Take that as you will.

That’s exactly what a bot would say.

(I kid, I kid. Er, I think.)

That list of shows that’s being removed is huge too.

God I hope people reconsider purchasing products from companies that do these kind of things to them.

At some point you think if they get smacked up the side of their heads enough times that they will actually wake up and do something about it.

If the event lasts only a moment and leaves no visual cue (e.g. an assault), then binary search is practically useless.

But you will see the event happen though.

It’s a matter of if you can identify who the perpetrator is or not, but at least that due diligence should be done by police, looking at the person doing the crime and see if they can be identified.

I was in a band called Death Star Daycare.

That’s, actually, not bad, at all.

Although I’m sure the Disney attorneys would probably have some issues with that name, potentially.

From the articles…

The union is so far being mum on the details of the agreement, which will likely emerge in the next few days prior to the union’s ratification vote.

I wonder why?

I’m honestly surprised someone at this point hasn’t just ported over all the comments from Reddit over to Lemmy, since they’re basically public domain comments from the human species that Reddit is just storing. IANAL.

Actually when I made the joke, I got zero laughs in the operating room. I had to explain the joke, and still got no real comment/laugh.

I finally followed it up with a Rodney Dangerfield version of “Tough room” and that got a chuckle finally.

I went with the Leslie Nielsen quote from the movie Airplane, “I just wanted to say good luck, we’re all counting on you.”
