Delphia,

I support the idea of a UBI because any kind of welfare system with rules as to who is eligible will rule out some people who are very much deserving on a technicality and there are people who are entirely caipable of working but go out of their way to cheat the system.

So in a way I support it for slightly “right” reasons. I want a level playing field, nobody should be fucked from the jump and nobody should have to fight for the very basics, beyond that you should have to work, contribute, create… do something to bring value to the greater world.

Delphia,

Im gonna ask you. What exactly is the problem with that?

I can walk into a plastic surgeon and talk about how I dont like my eyes/ears/nose/lips/etc and they will take a fucking scalpel and cut me up. I can get hair implants, butt implants, pec implants. I could eat until I have to waddle into a doctors office to be offered a veritable menu of weight loss drugs and invasive surgeries. If I were a woman and pound weight loss drugs, engage in extreme dieting and get some “work done” the general attitude will be “Yass Queen, live your best life!” and not to be transphobic (Its not coming from that place, think what you want) but I could even wholeheartedly believe that my entire gender is wrong and recieve surgeries, hormones and therapies to change that.

But because I’m a grown man in good shape who works out 6 days a week, despite their being an extensive list of drugs and compounds that can relatively safely* give me the body I’d love to have I’m not allowed to have them because they are “performance enhancing” like that isnt the whole reason I want them. I am told, that even with strict medical supervision, bloodwork and other support I’m straight up not allowed. People act like the recipe isnt “Steroids… and a FUCKLOAD OF WORK”

Delphia, (edited )

I see a problem with people lying about it, especially if they are profiting off the lie or using it to gain an unfair advantage in sports. The fact that they are illegal and you have to get them underground exacerbates the problem. Its not on your medical history, theres no official records of you being on them so you can lie.

The issue I have is theres a social distain towards steroids that seems unfair when compared to all the other things I listed. I’m not ashamed to tell you that I’m not on steroids, but only because I dont have reliable access to them. Because they are extremely illegal in Australia and because we are an island nation hard to smuggle in and therefore HORRIBLY expensive. If I could have my doctor manage a sensibly dosed regime, Id start tomorrow and I wouldnt lie for a second about it.

You’re half right about the hormones, you experience supression when coming off a cycle thats pretty much directly proportional to your dosage and duration when on steroids. Which is why Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) is a must, suplements that help rebalance your hormones and bring testosterone production back up.

The problem with them being illicit and distained is that theres nothing stopping people from just setting their own insane dosages, running terrible stacks (multiple different drugs/compounds), not doing adequate PCT and generally making up their own rules, leading to bad outcomes.

Delphia,

Agree 100%

Its like eating disorders or extreme dieting and modelling. The difference with PEDs is the lies, they are actors not athletes. Would it be more or less helpful to young men wanting to look like that to know the truth. “This took tens of thousands of dollars in trainers, dieticians and pharmaceuticals and working out was basically my job for 6 whole months” at least putting it in a realistic frame of reference.

Delphia,

Agreed, they have to lie because its illegal, the ones who lie and sell workout plans are con-artists. Simple.

Delphia,

The solution to this is so simple its insane.

You offer anyone whose home is within sight of a wind turbine say… 5000kw/h a year in free electricity. With a little careful planning and given that your average turbine produces around 6 million kwh a year. Id imagine they shut up pretty fucking fast.

Delphia,

Id say that they arent exactly picturesque but they provide clean energy. So like sure… maybe dont put them everywhere, lets leave out the Unesco world heritage sites and National parks but theres an awful lot of otherwise unremarkable land that Id rather see a bunch of windmills on than the currently existing “fuckall”

Milo? What do you do with it?

I was gifted a 900 Gram bag of Milo (I assume that’s some shrinkflation crap). I love Malt and Cocoa, but this is bland and chalky. What do I do with it? So far I have tried it hot and cold on its own and mixed in coffee hot and cold. My next thought was using it in baked goods, something like an American Brownie....

Delphia,

Ok as an Australian allow me to weigh in.

Firstly, you need more than looks reasonable at all times. This is not a health food.

Its excelent on vanilla ice cream.

It doesnt mix well in cold milk or cold water, so put some in a cup (more than you think is reasonable) and then either add hot milk or enough hot water to break it down and then add cold milk. It takes a vigorous stirring so use a cup big enough to allow you to go to town.

Delphia,

Bosch doesnt really enter the chat in a lot of places because their range of (excellent) tools just isnt that big.

If you’re looking to enter a dad dick measuring contest with your tool collection Bosch isnt going to win, I swear Ryobi is about 3 seconds from bringing out a battery powered battery.

Delphia,

Mine too, but their range is so small.

Delphia,

As a dad having options for the fam for fathers day is good.

Delphia,

Popcorn. Home made not bought.

Now if you want to go super healthy, air popped with no butter is so low calorie that you can basically not count it. Oil popped is a little higher, but still much better. Its only once you start drowning it in butter that it gets not so good for you. Also if you like it SALTY theres that…

But once you do a little digging into infusing oils and flavored salts and spice mixes, you can make some mind blowing shit. Popping the kernels in chilli infused oil and then hit them with a lemon and garlic salt… fuck yeah.

Delphia,

Ive known some people of a very criminal inclination and most of them were actually really good people if you didnt equate laws and morality.

Delphia,

If you just follow the directions, you’re a heathen.

But if you’re going to disregard the directions and add cream, butter, salt, pepper etc. Then you can get a result thats almost as good.

Delphia,

Tater Tots.

Now I dont “love” them as a standalone but I do a few really nice loaded versions for catering family events. I tried to “elevate” my dishes by making my own and while I could and they were a little better it took half a day and a shitload of mess.

Michael Dukakis tanks his presidential campaign, 1988 (lemmy.world)

Michael Dukakis was a Democrat candidate running for President in 1988. He had previously been criticized as being soft on national defense, so in September of that year he orchestrated a photo op in an M1 Abrams tank meant to toughen up his image....

Delphia,

Now I’m Australian so what I saw might not have been the full picture but it felt like Hillary ran a lazy campaign at least from the international coverage.

I dont remember a single specific thing about it, no policies, platforms or sound bytes. It wasnt memorable. What I do remember was mostly commentary about how she was clearly better than Trump. It felt like she expected to win on name recognition and because he was so clearly wrong for the job.

Just my thoughts, I have no doubt there was medding but I also dont think she played a strong game either.

Delphia,

Ive been told the Makita DRC200Z is very user servicable, mostly because its a more commercial space dumb unit.

Delphia,

Honestly from a close look at the picture I cant help but feel like this is AI generated and OP might be having some fun with us.

Something seems “off” with all 3 of the guys on the cover and I cant identify the car for the life of me.

Delphia,

What I hate? I saw 10 times the amount of Mariah Carey memes than times I heard the song. Everyone spamming the same tired recycled memes about the same shit every year.

Its more tiresome than the songs.

Delphia,

Ive seen that many adds for idiotic games where the stupid fuck in the add is obviously just playing the game poorly and I KNOW its a tactic to get me to prove how smaht I am by getting the game and doing better than the shitstick in the video. I KNOW its a manipulation tactic.

But I kind of still want to prove it.

Delphia,

The difference is that the short man in the suit has professional liability insurance.

If someone tries some dumb shit and gets a pavement facial Moama can almost certainly beat an assault charge, but civil injury claims are notoriously bad if you’re rich. An ambulance chaser will offer to take the case for free and be such a pest that its worth $100k to Moama to make him fuck off.

The little guy can sit there in court, dispassionately explaining that he felt his client was in danger and let the ambulance chaser argue with an insurance company (and we all know how much they love cutting cheques).

Delphia,

Once you’re a grown up socks and undies are a great present.
