Soon I’m going to be part of our safety management team, I respect this type of attitude. I don’t want all of our employees being exhausted all day, that’s dangerous. Go home, get rest, relax, come back 100% tomorrow. Any other attitude is unsustainable and irresponsible. I do appreciate the need to SOMETIMES work overtime. I’d really like to understand the positive feedback loop that’s involved with excessive overtime but that’s not my specific field of study.
Totally agree, it’s not about the quantity of conversations here. It’s the quality. Here I can engage in an Isreal/Palestine conversation with only a moderate level of outrage in the thread, I wouldn’t even dare read such a thread on Reddit. I don’t want to read all that hate and lust for violence.
Great advice! There is also the possibility that you’re just a night person someone may just be a night person. There’s a syndrome called Delayed Phase Sleep Syndrome which is a fancy way of saying your body prefers to sleep during the day and be active at night. If we didn’t live in a society that operates mostly during the day it wouldn’t be a problem, but that’s not how it works. There are people who I’ve worked nights with who I swear had this. They were happier and healthier on nights, they wanted to work nights. If that’s you, maybe look for a night shift job.
This is called the two state solution, and it’d be nice. It’s been tried and it failed, and that’s why Israel and Palestine are fighting now. It seems like the best solution but so far Israel has never agreed to it.
I read a study long time ago, I can’t find it, it’s old, and I have not kept up with new publications so take all this with a huge grain of salt. The study found that not only does a public transit system need to be available and dependable, it needs a certain amount of people too. Once a critical number of commuters used public transit it passed a tipping point where even more people began to use it. The study concluded that people seeing people take public transit will increase the likelihood that they will choose public transit next time compared to people who saw deserted public transit. It’s a chicken and egg problem on top of everything else. Keep in mind I am not an expert and I am not current with the topic.
I get what you’re saying, but for my daily protest comment against Reddit; there is no such thing as a terrorist tool. Tools aren’t good or bad, but they can be used for good or bad. This has been another comment which added nothing to the conversation. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
In no way, shape, or form am I an expert in martial arts or combat. I would imagine however it depends on the situation. An army with spears and an individual with a spear are two very different things. Armys equipped with swords vs spears, spears win. Individuals fighting with a sword and a spear probably comes down to individual skill more than the specific weapon.
I imagine that for a very small minority of the population, that’s actually their kink. Writing sexually explicit and politically suspect text messages in order to force some unwitting federal employee to participate in some deranged message-au-trois. The world is filled with all kinds of people.
There’s a story Mr. Rogers used to tell, "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” That’s what you need to do, look for the helpers, which for adults and politics means look for the grass roots organizers. Go ask the people putting in the leg work how you can help. Yeah alone you are powerless but in a group you become powerful, find allies.
I get that the picture is more art than an actual representation of anything. With that said even as art The Matrix in my opinion doesn’t really fit there. Like it’s entirely within the bounds of The Handmaid’s Tale so keeping with the Ven Diagram aesthetic with artistic license it means that The Matrix is most like The Handmaid’s tale, which isn’t not. The Handmaid’s Tale is a feminist story about the domination of women in society, The Matrix is a philosophical exploration of the questions what is real and do we have free choice.
Maybe the argument could be made they’re both about choice but that feels hollow. Maybe put The Hunger Games there I’m definitely over thinking this.
