MashedTech,

What are your opinions on The Magicians?

MashedTech,

Lumberjack Larry: “Darlin’, I’ve carved the grandest totem, but it’s too tall for the town square!”

Lucy, the Lumberjill: “And here I am, trying to fit this massive log through our cabin door. It’s a tight squeeze!”

Lumberjack Larry: “Looks like we’re both in a pickle with ‘My Big Stick Doesn’t Fit: The Log Jam Love Story.’”

Lucy, the Lumberjill: “Time to put our heads together and chop this problem down to size, honey!”

MashedTech,

Any phone can barely handle the web app

No, but it sure is annoying having to switch in the middle of doing something especially when you’re working. (Also, there’s that pesky thing that happened to me as well where windows doesn’t play nice with the Linux boot partition and fucks it up) So there’s always going to be a main os. If you’re fortunate enough you can use an old laptop for windows. Or, if your computer is powerful enough run an windows VM. For me, Gnome Boxes offered a really easy to use experience of running windows. It worked out of the box, no special tweaks.

MashedTech,

It’s a long video. Nobody is gonna watch it all. Take a frame, make a meme, and leave.

MashedTech,

Look, honestly, to me at least, this horse has been dead for a 1000 years and we’ve been beating it since then. Initially I was as well, “haha funny, what is vim, so hard” and then I happened to interact with it for the first time, did a web search and all the amusement died. If it’s like this we should make fun of Ctrl+C as well because “Omg, so hard to terminate a terminal program, there is no X to click on” just because this is non standard for a user that is familiar with only the GUI. We could abstract and transform this meme 1000 times because there will always be somebody who knows how to do something and then there is something else that doesn’t work the way he/she/they/etc. are used to and searching for an answer is too hard.

Or am I just dumb, ranting about something that doesn’t even matter because in the end there will always be new people, for which vim is new and hard and vim maybe is the most popular thing most of the new users on here have a hard time understanding. Will this meme ever evolve into something else at one point? Was there a precursor to this meme before vim or vi existed? What are other similar memes that I reacted to the same way because I find myself in a similar spot as most people find themselves with vim and I am just a hypocrite?

TL;DR: Just disregard my useless comment, enjoy the things you want to enjoy, and be happy, you only get one life, don’t waste it getting mad at useless shit.

MashedTech,

Better than normal pollution though or visual pollution from smoke and smog. It’s a tradeoff and a good one in my mind.

Good luck web devs (lemmy.world)

MashedTech,

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!

Christians quote the bible, Muslims quote the Quran and we have our own set of sacred texts.

I might move again. (Or not) (lemy.lol)

I moved from Lemmy.ml because I liked the name of Lemmy.world and it ran a newer Lemmy version which meant I could make communities. I moved from Lemmy.world because they defederated from piracy communities they didn’t even host (but for some reason still kept the small piracy community they DID host) From thelemmy.club...

MashedTech,

It’s an app that can integrate with a lot of streaming services(officially) and has a built-in torrent client(that does nothing). (You know, all of this so that they can be accessible on all platforms, etc. torrenting isn’t viewed kindly by platform makers) With the help of third party plugins (such as Torrentio) stremio now has access to systems where you can integrate with torrent sources so that when you browse for your movie, you can also see torrent sources and with the help of the built in torrent client, you can also stream them. Stremio has casting support and apps for all devices, even TV. It makes it really easy to watch movies easier and in better quality than any streaming service. It also keeps track where you last were in your movie so you can resume, the same thing for shows, also has many other useful extensions that streaming services don’t support, such as Trakt.tv integration, or browsing curated lists of movies and shows from anywhere, as well as integrating with other sources outside of torrents such as providers holding archived materials.

MashedTech,

I swear. I quit using iTerm and moved to Kitty because it was too inefficient and was eating up my battery on the go. There are so many apps that are just diguised browsers that eat too much memory and processing power and they make needing a powerful machine a requirement if you want to have multiple apps open. It’s getting to a ridiculous point and it’s inconvenient.

MashedTech,

That’s why I have extensions that track prices so I have an accurate price history.

MashedTech,

Or simply just: Too old version not supporting latest macos version.

THEY BREAK SHIT WHEN THEY RELEASE A NEW MACOS HOLY FUCK.

You’re right. If you can afford something you like you should steal it, it’s much better. Whenever I go into a library I just take a bag and dump all the books and take them home. Why should I put in the effort of wasting my time(meaning money I could have earned) signing a library card when I can just steal? It’s THE MOST EFFICIENT WAY. That’s how I stay RICH. I never pay. Whenever I see someone about to pay for something they want I just steal their money, why should they keep it if they’re not smart enough to not waste it? Their money is much safer with me. The apartment I’m currently living in is so cheap, because I never pay. I just changed all the locks, have triple bolts on all the doors and just stay here. It’s mine, it’s free and they can’t kick me out because I won’t let them. Why should I pay for the internet when it’s basically flowing free through these wires and air? I just take some from my neighbor. When I go to a coffee shop I just grab the first drink I see that’s on the counter. If they’re not fast enough to take their drink, I take it, it’s just sitting there, it’s free.

MashedTech,

It barely shakes compared to the washing machine. I’m not buying. I believe little elves scrub the dishes clean.
