MigratingtoLemmy,

Kavita is supposed to be the self-hosted automated manga downloader, unfortunately, their website seems to be down.

I believe FMD2 running in an OCI-compatible container with WINE underneath and Guacamole to present the app’s GUI should be a decent alternative, since I heard that FMD2 can auto-download new manga chapters/releases

How many of you run a Linux phone (Pine64, Librem etc) as your daily driver?

I was going through Pine64’s page again after I found the latest KDE announcement. With that said, I seem to see a lot of issues with firmware on the Pine, whilst the Librem is just plain out of budget for me. Was interested in how many people here run a Linux mobile as a daily driver, and how has your experience been?...

MigratingtoLemmy, (edited )

I would have to dispute your claims on this one. The only really modern mobiles running Lineage OS (by modern I mean released in this year and the previous year) are perhaps some European Xiaomi/Realme devices, maybe a couple of Samsungs, the last-gen OnePlus and some Motorola devices, and the Pixels.

As I have been complaining for a long while now, the entire custom ROM market is moving towards the Pixels, which is a dreadful move in my opinion, but what I can do

MigratingtoLemmy,

Copying my edit here: I am willing to watch content and use banking apps from the browser. Do you think it’ll be fit for me?

MigratingtoLemmy,

What inconveniences have you faced from the software?

Copying my edit here: I am willing to watch content and use banking apps from the browser. Do you think it’ll be fit for me?

MigratingtoLemmy,

My problem is the lack of availability of custom ROMs on new devices like the newest OnePlus and ASUS. Not the fault of the maintainers but it is what it is. I don’t want to be locked to Pixel hardware because come what may I will never trust Google on a single thing

MigratingtoLemmy,

In Europe? AFAIK Motorola’s latest devices don’t have builds on the Lineage OS website (from 2023) but I might be wrong.

MigratingtoLemmy,

Do you specifically use feature-phones?

MigratingtoLemmy,

I hope so too. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. The PinePhone Pro is still treated as a development device by PostmarketOS, for example

MigratingtoLemmy,

Thanks

MigratingtoLemmy,

Too expensive for me. Not considering

MigratingtoLemmy,

I don’t get it. Why on earth are ASUS, MSI, Asrock etc paying AMI when they could literally get the FOSS community to write it for them with a little help?

MigratingtoLemmy,

You need root for that. This is trivial with root.

If you don’t want to patch with Magisk, look at KernelSU

MigratingtoLemmy, (edited )

I believe PostmarketOS with the PinePhone Pro is a decent experience. Nope, it’s not. Don’t get it if you don’t want to contributr your time to the project. With that said, I’m not too confident on its usability, 2 years after its release. What do you run and what has your experience been like?

MigratingtoLemmy,

As I said, his change in behaviour towards fellow developers is a welcome change. There’s no doubt about that.

I just wish he would continue to rage against companies up to no good, especially for FOSS. I never want him to get mild with Nvidia, and I want him to praise AMD a bit (they deserve it, and his opinion holds value).

MigratingtoLemmy,

Install a non-systemd distribution on an old thinkpad. I’m sure I can make him the happiest compared to the rest of you miserable plebs \s

MigratingtoLemmy,

OK WTF I need this machine now I didn’t realise a Dell workstation was granted support. Link please?

MigratingtoLemmy,

That’s just brilliant. I was interested in hydroponics too, but quickly realised that economically speaking, I’d be better off purchasing my vegetables anyway.

I’d love to learn how to make sauces though

MigratingtoLemmy,

I hate that Framework doesn’t support Coreboot yet. That’s perhaps the only laptop brand I’d be willing to spend $1000 on to purchase a laptop from, but unless they act on it I’m not buying anything from them. Unfortunately, System76 isn’t really present outside the US, which makes it a real pickle I’m in

MigratingtoLemmy,

I’d love to get into digital electronics and hardware hacking but I have no use for the skills in my life as of now, which means I have 0 motivation to pursue them

MigratingtoLemmy,

Lol, that’s a laptop that looks like a thinkpad but with ARM instead. No thanks, even Purism laptops is better than that (except shipping to outside the US)

MigratingtoLemmy,

It’s funny that this is on AskLemmy and not some linux-specific community. Reinforces the image that Lemmy users are the more computer-savvy people (which I find great!)

MigratingtoLemmy,

Thank you, I’ll take a look! That’s a great idea!

MigratingtoLemmy,

Detach/Desolder the WiFi card from the back of the TV. Connect a device to it and install Kodi.
