What is your unpopular flim opinion

I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds

Especially when there are a few examples of amazing actors that you can know and still sometimes struggle to recognize them in their characters. Like Gary Oldman, and … uh… OK well I’m not in a movie headspace, but he’s not the only one!

Tons of lesser names that play great side/background characters and it’s hard to tell, too, so I totally agree others need chances at lead characters.

Those are the actors I’m never tired of because their characters are almost always unique characters.

They still aren’t confusing the terms. They made it very clear where they were coming from and now it’s been clarified further.

Do not demand that the discussion be as ignorant as you were at the start of it. That’s pathetic.

MotoAsh,

They aren’t confusing the terms. It’s just that “libertarians” in the US are largely viewed as right-wing anti-authority, whereas on the global stage, they’re kindof like normal anarchist-lite. If you say, “well that’s not very specific”, then yes that’s correct.

MotoAsh, (edited )

It’s not a bad thing to ask for clarifying questions… How the flying fuck do you think people learn things from people who are scholars/teachers/experts!? Did you never ask a single question in school or your job(s)?? How the fuck do you learn without questions?

You being upset at this is pathetic.

MotoAsh, (edited )

It constantly astounds me that people somehow do not understand the concept of introspection.

The “why” is more important than the “what”. Always. Killing a man is cold blooded murder in one context, and saving your entire family in another. Thoughts are the same. If you don’t know why you are correct, you are far less likely to be correct on a less obvious question.

I swear, these are the people that hear a Trolley Problem and only start asking questions to see if they can get you to agree with killing more than the other track…

Sometimes the “offense” that guys feel over guys wearing skirts and stuff is definitely from closeted thoughts or outright self-hate, but that’s not necessarily the case. The underlying issue is they view clothing as gendered in the first place.

Style shouldn’t be associated with sexual attraction implicitly, but it does for stupid people, and many people are stupid. Especially horny guys thinking with the wrong head.

The mere presence of a particular article turns them on, and they project that to intent. It is entirely subjective if they get upset at popping a boner, or upset that a male would use clothing that traditionally makes a female sexy. It requires the dumb person to view another’s clothing choice as a direct expression to them, but stupid people taking things personally that aren’t personal should be preeeetty easy to understand!

It’s a lesser mindset, male-focused version of, “what was she wearing?” after an SA event. Just because I’m trying to look pretty and you like some part of that, I am still most definitely not coming on to you by wearing it.

MotoAsh,

I’m not so sure I DO “deal” with it. I just do mostly what I want and get annoyed at people when they get judgemental about it.

I HATE peacocking or doing anything to show off because I hate attention, so style has always been a question I deliberately fail to answer.

MotoAsh,

Attraction is not a choice, but if your reaction to cognitive dissonance is to get angry at someone wearing clothing, that is a YOU problem.

Yes, lots of people have problems with this. That does not make it acceptable. Again, attraction is not a choice, but you do not have to hump their leg.

I hear those excuses all the time from rapists. “I was attracted!”, “look what she was wearing!” Know what you defend when you say people cannot control their attraction: That’s EXACTLY what a lot of rapists say.

People SHOULD be able to control their attraction, at least enough to be a civil person. Being a rude piece of shit over clothing is very much ALSO not being a civil person. Things don’t have to get violent for them to still be wrong.

MotoAsh,

Uh… no? Well, maybe for the guy in the picture because they’re clearly dumb, but “computer engineer” sounds more like chip design and circuit layout than even software engineering, let alone basic IT work…

Basic IT work is wholly and completely different than any kind of computer-related engineering.

MotoAsh, (edited )

That’s because they’re lying idiots, not computer engineers. I can call myself a beutiful woman, but that doesn’t make it true, nor would me calling myself a beutiful woman EVER change what “beutiful woman” means to others.

MotoAsh,

No, that’s not the way language works. No, that’s not how education or degrees or engineering works, either.

You would have to fundamentally change the meaning of several well established words before “computer engineer” will EVER actually refer to tech support.

MotoAsh,

Magnets transmit force, they don’t magically create energy. It takes energy to move the car, not just a static force being present. It’s the same as taping a stick to it without the magnets. Unless someone pulls on the stick (or magnet), no energy is entering the system and no work can be done.

MotoAsh,

It’ll be the best year yet for global warming, that’s a guarantee. Every year will be setting new records for the forseeable future.

MotoAsh,

I want them to lose a tangible amount. Showing me one ad will cost them the same as showing others hundreds of thousands.

MotoAsh, (edited )

Didn’t YouTube literally do this with the question ads a few years ago? That’s when I decided I would NEVER be nice to advertisers. They’re selling my time for money, not giving me the money, and now they’re rude about it. 110% fuuuuuuck them.

MotoAsh,

Same, but the mere demand for attention was enough. Now, if I see an ad, I’ll make a script sit there and spend five minutes force-loading their pages to eat their bandwidth right back. They will lose money for every ad I see. Fuck them all.

MotoAsh, (edited )

Are you saying the other half wouldn’t demand action?

This isn’t about what the idiots would do. This is about what leaders would’ve been asked to do if the headlines were about the oceans and not aliens.

Do not do the shady politicians’ job for them and help the distraction work… It was to cover so they could remain lazy.

MotoAsh,

They were covering up the news about the ocean srreams possibly dying by 2025. They did it to cover up the news that they’re officially destroying the planet.

MotoAsh,

Yea. Why tip someone that’s pocketing money that could otherwise be building your equity? Landlords are quite literally just leeches.

MotoAsh,

Ahhh, from before we called anything funny worth sharing a meme. Good times, good times…

MotoAsh,

So… they don’t even teach what white flags mean?

MotoAsh,

No, that’s a blussy. Easily confused for a bussy.

MotoAsh, (edited )

Nah, that’s the thing with mental disorders and other things: They’re usually just an imbalance of otherwise normal behaviors/moods/etc. Most people should be able to relate to most mental disorders.

They just shouldn’t do the, “lol I’m so OCD!” thing, because that trivializes how nasty the real disorders get. The people with the disorders don’t just have flashes of silly desires or emotions (usually), but rather a literally debilitating to normal daily life disorder that no one would want to deal with.

MotoAsh,

I mean, hypocrisy is something worth pushing back against, but only a jerk of a fool chooses to create more injustice as a response.

MotoAsh, (edited )

See, if they wanted to make a drama-fest Trek, THAT would be a perfect way. Discovery’s style of bastardizing everything about Starfleet is exactly the wrong way. It shouldn’t matter if they’ve made the same mistake in some of the Trek movies. It’s ALWAYS a mistake to bastardize things instead of creating new angles.
