OceanSoap,

I wouldn’t have caved and joined that Foosball tournament.

OceanSoap,

I’d probably be dead from infection, and at the very least horribly disfigured. Was in a boating accident when I was 6 and had 3rd degree burns across my entire body.

What are some works/resources that helped make something difficult/unclear finally click for you?

I’m always on the lookout for materials that help me understand different things that up to now I’ve been otherwise stumped by or had trouble wrapping my mind around. Any subject/topic that’s interested you that whatever you’ve found has helped you gain a greater understanding and appreciation of are welcome!

OceanSoap,

Khan academy for math, absolutely. Never would have gotten my AA without it.

OceanSoap,

In Phoenix, can confirm, 100°F dry heat is pretty awesome

OceanSoap,

Yeah, they actually call it The Motherfucker Gene, so everyone else had the same thought, lol.

It actually stands for methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase, which is the enzyme that metabolizes folic acid into methylfolate. Most people have a bit of an issue with it, but mine is like 80% defunct. For example, taking extra folic acid supplements while pregnant would do almost nothing for the baby, because my body just won’t metabolize it. I have to take high doses of methylfolate instead to get the same benefits.

And thank you you! It really has been life-changing!

OceanSoap,

Chug water before your flight, and do you best to board with a full bottle that you keep chugging during the flight. It keeps swelling down.

I used to be a window seat gal, but now I specifically get an aisle seat for any flight over three hours. That way I don’t have to bother waking anyone up if I have to pee.

If you hit some scary turbulence, just remember that planes withstand them. It feels scary, but the danger is due to bags or people that weren’t strapped in flying about. So, grip your armrest, imagine you’re on a rollercoaster and enjoy the ride.

OceanSoap,

To Mozart? I think Tony Ann fits that bill. He’s not super well known yet, but he’s on his way there.

What phone do you sugest for your grandparents?

I got a task to buy a smart phone for my grandparents, they are not techsavy but they know how to use basic functions. Iam looking for an andoid because it has language pack i need. I dont need it to have lots of functions, onley a good camera and a big screen. Bonus points if it can be flashed with some kind of simplefied...

OceanSoap,

I traumatized myself by learning how brutal ant colonies are by reading Animorphs in 5th grade. Fucking brutal. I had nightmares about it.

OceanSoap,

Same. My first bank account tin collage was through Wells Fargo. I got burned by all the ridiculous fees. Closed it down and never went back. This was in 2003.

OceanSoap,

Oh, most of my CAD workdays are filled with Google searches.

OceanSoap,

I watch YouTube during work, so that. My Google drive account. And now lemmy replaced reddit.

I still go on reddit, but only like once every couple of weeks now.

OceanSoap,

I’m on a hovercraft to Paris with my former best friend. We have to get to the cinematheque. We’re not alone, but no one speaks english so we’re free to look into each other’s minds and see what we’re thinking like we always used to. I miss talking to you.

OceanSoap,

Meh. Its slow, and the politics are more extreme. I’ve spent a good portion filtering most politics that I can out of my feed.

It’s alright here. There’s enough to keep me off reddit and not enough to keep me on my phone constantly.

OceanSoap,

Can you explain more about the politics bit? What specifically is different regarding how political discussions are handled over there?

OceanSoap,

This is awesome, I’m going to check it out, thank you.

What's your favorite rabbit hole to go down?

I was just watching Titanic and spent 20 minutes looking up the effects of hypothermia and discovering that Jack may have been alive and in stage 3 hypothermia when Rose let go, and because he sank instead of floated, he was in fact alive. It was a fun little time sink. What rabbit holes have you done down recently?

OceanSoap,

I always have such a hard time with the 4th dimension concept. (Not the time one though, the other one) Sometimes I grasp it for a bit and then minutes later I’ll be confused again.
