Mine is people who separate words when they write. I’m Norwegian, and we can string together words indefinetly to make a new word. The never ending word may not make any sense, but it is gramatically correct...
“of” in place of “have” certainly had to come from people mishearing/misunderstanding “ve.” There’s no other explanation.
The accident one is funny. I had to really think about when I’d use “on”, and it’s when I say something like: “he did it on accident.” Which is wrong when I think about it, but I know I’ve said this countless times. I can only guess it grew from “an accident” like “it was an accident.”
Even though "on"and “by” are the same length, “by” sounds like it takes too much effort to say. How weird.
It’s becoming more common in English for people to say “whenever” when it should just be “when.” It’s like nails on a chalkboard when I hear it used wrong like that
One of mine is when I finish wrapping my hair up tightly in the towel to dry after washing, I whack the towel where it’s tucked in, kind of like encouragement to stay tucked for the duration, kinda like a coach does when sending the kids onto the playing field.
When I’m lying in bed on my side, I move my feet against each other in little circular motions, like a figure 8, so that my heels and the big toe move around the arch.
I have no idea when it started and never realized I was doing it until my ex pointed it out to me one night in bed.
Your poor wife. A terrible husband and two terrible best friends. I hope she find someone who loves her enough not to sleep with her friends, or sleep with her husband.
When you get hiccups, the trick is to stretch out your diaphragm. So, inhale as deep as you can, and hold it for as long as you can, even if you hiccup once or twice while holding your breath, the hiccups go away almost immediately
I’m on a hovercraft to Paris with my former best friend. We have to get to the cinematheque. We’re not alone, but no one speaks english so we’re free to look into each other’s minds and see what we’re thinking like we always used to. I miss talking to you.
Plus, anyone who has traveled in South Asia or South America knows that Germany is much, much more safe to drive in than most of the rest of the world.
How is your part of the world doing (both current and future prospects) compared to how it was 30/40 years ago? Please say where you are in the world....
I’m in AZ, USA, and I like it. Everyone outside of AZ is freaking out about the weather, but I enjoy it. I’m much more comfortable in the dry heat than I am in 75°f with humidity.
Anyway, I like that we’re a pro-abortion state and a pro-gun state. I like that there’s a lot of thought diversity here and less anger in general.
The real version is the first guy says he won’t bake a cake for a gay couple, which is shitty, but his right. Then the second guy comes along and says he wants to kill the first guy because nazis also wouldn’t bake cakes for gay people, so the first guy must also be a nazi, and nazis all deserve to die, so this guy does too.
Then a rational person comes along and points out that both of them are being shitty and everyone loses their goddamned mind over it.
I’m in Phoenix. It was 112°f here today. It’s hot as balls.
However, I’m immensely more comfortable in this heat than I was when visiting Germany last summer when it was in the high 70’s. The difference is the humidity. I was constantly sweating, soaking everything while I was over there. Here? I get a little sweaty at 100°, sometimes. Our power infrastructure is pretty solid, so lots of air conditioner.
It blew my mind when I learned that we’re in a relatively dark, empty part of space compared to what’s out there. It really put into perspective for me how difficult space travel will be for us as we continue to advance.
Not sure why, just that I was in a building when one was being performed and it stunk up the whole place to the point I almost went home because I was going to vomit. My boss put out a bowl of liquid that neutralized the odor, thank god.
I can imagine people having fun getting lost in the flow of playing a competitive sport. I’ve also heard some people experience a post-workout high. But does anyone actually feel pleasure in the moment while lifting weights, jogging, cycling, etc?...
I enjoy reformers pilates a lot, but that’s because of the deep stretching worked into the routine. It’s a game changer. If I could, I’d be doing it every day.
I fucking hate cardio with the passion of 190 million burning suns. However, I have experienced a runners high before. You get a bit lightheaded and dizzy, but not so much that you pass out. It just feels good. However, not good enough to get me up off my ass and do it, lol.
