PlasterAnalyst,

Speculation. Some investors are more interested in holding the property until they can sell it in the future for a profit, rather than the rent they would earn now. Some landlords will have negative cashflow even if they are charging rent because they know they can sell the property for a profit later.

Why do most people refuse to accept that they are wrong

I have come across a lot’s of people like these. like 99% of them. Sometimes it makes me think twice if what i am saying is wrong? What’s wrong with them. Is it so hard to swallow your pride and acknowledge that the other person is speaking facts? When they come to know they are wrong they proceed to insult/make fun of...

PlasterAnalyst,

There's also the possibility of competing interests. There's no "wrong" answer, but people will argue certain facts to persuade others to take their position. This is called "politics."

PlasterAnalyst,

If it's free then why do I pay ~$150/ month between phones and home service?

PlasterAnalyst,

I agree, however, if you're forward thinking you can drop ship stuff from Amazon to the hotel and have it waiting for you when you arrive.

PlasterAnalyst,

The great irony being that Bing Crosby had a very famous song called "happy holidays" that is featured in the movie "holiday inn" and if you don't like a Bing Crosby Christmas movie you're a goddamn communist.

PlasterAnalyst,

Yule see, yule all see!

PlasterAnalyst,

I don't use it very often because my memory is for shit so I need gui options to be right in front of me.

PlasterAnalyst,

Shouldn't you be paying the people who built your house royalties then?

Switching to Debian on my gaming pc

Hello everyone - I have been wanting to ditch windows on my gaming pc for a while now, and since I have recently finished a large project, I now have the free time to switch. I am relatively comfortable with Debian having used it for a while on my web server as well as school laptop, but I am concerned about using it on my...

PlasterAnalyst,

I've had stability issues with mint. It's usually a problem with updates bricking my install.

PlasterAnalyst,

I've read that some won't work that way and some do and I really don't want to research tvs at the moment.

PlasterAnalyst,

We have a 55" led TV from about 10 years ago. We bought it at a physical sears store. I replaced the power supply board maybe 5-6 years ago? Because the backlight stopped working. The current problem with it is that if it has been on in the past few hours she you try to turn it on again it takes 15-20 minutes to finally turn on. No amount of power cycling or fiddling fixes it, you just have to press the power button and wait. If you turn it on after it has been off all night, then it starts up fine. I really don't want to buy a new TV right now and I don't really want a smart TV anyway.

This package of bagels I bought expired on a date that doesn't exist. (i.imgur.com)

I originally posted this on the other site back when I took the picture, and it resulted in a lot of confused comments, especially from Americans, eventually getting removed by overzealous mods. Either way, I promise you that this date does not exist, and has never existed.

PlasterAnalyst,

The person marking them doesn't get paid enough to care.

PlasterAnalyst,

I actually believe that this is one thing that Trump/Republicans saved us from. In the very first week of lockdowns I remember a few news stories of police really overstepping by pulling people over and demanding to know that they were doing outside. It didn't last long because the economy obviously comes first over lives. It could have really devolved into extreme facism.

PlasterAnalyst,

Create a medicat USB and clone the old drive to the new one.

PlasterAnalyst,

Still works on eBay for now, the one thing they haven't broken.

PlasterAnalyst,

Production based billing over a base kwh so it doesn't affect normal households.

They should have mandatory energy reduction plans regardless. They waste a lot of energy.

PlasterAnalyst,

Required vigorous energy reduction plans for industrial sites.

Hollywood to UK Govt: Investigating Pirates "Increasingly Difficult" * TorrentFreak (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

Summary: A recent UK government inquiry into the challenges faced by the film and high-end television industry has recently received submissions from major Hollywood studios advocating for KYC (know your customer) rules for hosting providers, similar to banking regulations to identify money laundering. If adopted, this would...

PlasterAnalyst,

I think there must be some legal worry if they don't enforce their copyright so they have to pretend to care about low level piracy.

PlasterAnalyst,

In the us there is a 3 year statute of limitations by law. A 2014 supreme court decision stated that "laches" could still be applied in very narrow cases.

Copyright and other laws will be different for other countries.

PlasterAnalyst,

I have to pretend not to hate my boss to his face every day.

My beagle has suddenly started resource guarding random stuff. What should I do to get this behavior to stop?

I’ll start off by saying that he has a bad past life. He was obviously abused by his previous owners and straight up abandoned in the woods. He has bad anxiety that he is on Prozac for, and it seems to be helping for the most part....

PlasterAnalyst,

Beagles are naturally like that. They're also high energy dogs. I would try to walk and play with him more to wear him out.
