RememberTheApollo_,

TBF the communist solution is for homes in general, not just homelessness.

RememberTheApollo_,

Are you truly invisible? As in not appearing on thermal or any other commonly used forms of visual detection and imaging?

Eh, how does it suck compared to air cooling? I mean, yeah it’s expensive and requires more maintenance, but it’s way quieter and keeps the components cooler than air cooling.

E: a lot of people who are saying all the stuff that could go wrong sound like they’ve never built a WC system and refuse to acknowledge that many of these issues are likely operator/installer error. Installation absolutely does require more care and effort than an air cooled system. I’m not trying to suggest anyone WC or that it’s better than air, you do you, I don’t care, but WC is trouble free if done correctly with good components.

RememberTheApollo_,

Yeah, upgrading is definitely a pain and more costly. Redoing the tubes if you went with hard tubing is part of it. If you didn’t go with some generic waterblocks you’re stuck with them fitted to the motherboard and good luck reassembling the fan cooler on the gpu if you kept the 50 small screws that held it all together.

That said, I personally won’t go back to air cooled. The low noise and steady temperature are worth it IMO.

RememberTheApollo_,

I sincerely doubt this as some sort of random or unknown issue. It uses the exact same attach points as a stock cooler or even a good aftermarket cooler. None of those warp the mobo or gpu. Keeping the temperature extremes down should prevent warping, if anything. I’ve been through two WC motherboards and 3 gpus and have experienced zero warping.

The only thing I can offer is either the boards that do warp are cheaply made and unable to support the weight of a good waterblock or the installer is over-enthusiastic about securing it and does so too tightly and thereby causes the damage. My current waterblock has specific instructions regarding installation to prevent over-tightening and damage to the motherboard and components. IOW I suggest it’s an installer problem the vast majority of the time.

RememberTheApollo_,

That’s certainly a risk one takes. FWIW I built mine with custom hard lines and fittings, and after the initial shakedown test, have had zero leaks in 6 years. YMMV, I guess.

RememberTheApollo_,

What’s with the meme /c’s getting all the mensrights/redpill stuff all of a sudden?

RememberTheApollo_,

AI video and content creator? Not sure why it’s on a meme/still image. Not familiar with it.

RememberTheApollo_,

And that’s why I avoid YouTube like the plague. 10 minutes of BS for 2 minutes of content. Fuck google for tying adspace (video length) to search returns and suggested video priorities. More BS = more adspace = puts your garbage video at the top of the list.

Lol, no nuance here. Landlords are the devil. I try to inject some moderation once in a while. We have a rental, it’s in fantastic shape. We’ve never raised the rent. We’ve spent so much on improvements and repairs we’ll not see a profit on it for the next 3 years. Tax write off? Sure… but nonetheless landlords are the devil. Doesn’t matter if we worked out asses off to afford it.

E: what follows is people willing to subscribe to luxuries like entertainment, but complain about fair prices for necessities. Why bother being decent when you get shit on anyway.

RememberTheApollo_,

Why do you think any business does what it does? That’s an absurd assertion that anyone would do that for nothing. We take good care of our tenants because we like having good people there, and that’s worth a lot. We play the long game. Your /s is useless after that post.

RememberTheApollo_,

We charge well under mortgage rates for rent. It’s affordable. I hate to throw this out there, but our intent is never to “extract” the max profit from someone. If someone wants to rent at the upper extent of their ability to pay it’s not what we’re forcing on someone.

RememberTheApollo_,

We’re not interested in infinite growth and owe no loyalty to shareholders. Our rates are static.

RememberTheApollo_,

Well, that’s an opinion.

RememberTheApollo_,

Really?

Groceries?

Electricity?

Fuel?

I think you need to adjust your thinking.

RememberTheApollo_, (edited )

You know nothing about me or my reading choices or knowledge. I could cite tons of capitalist garbage in favor of renterism, but that would be just as meaningless as your tripe. Point is renting is a business, like any other. The business owner can fleece customers or treat them like humans. We choose to be the latter, we choose to treat our renters fairly and give them an excellent service, and if that’s too difficult for you to separate from your prejudice for that facet of capitalism I see no reason to waste further conversation on the subject.

RememberTheApollo_, (edited )

No. No, I don’t think so. I’m not going to sit here, waste my time making a case, and be your whipping boy for every piece of shit landlord or landowning conglomerate that treats tenants like numbers to be squeezed for profit. You’re not here in good faith, your mind is made up, so there’s no point. This isn’t systemic critique, this is about me stepping in and trying to point out we’re not all bastards and we treat people well, but that doesn’t matter here. You’ve made a completely manufactured position that has no real world basis that you’re trying to make me defend, I’m sure some form of rent has existed since before the pyramids so there’s no case for me to make. Rent is a default position for those that don’t own, unless we’re going to get into the weeds over some sort of pointless discussion of property ownership being horrible in general (which I tend to agree with). I shouldn’t have to explain that. It’s business. And for the record, you’re inventing morality that renting is some kind of moral failing when, as I mentioned, some form of renting has been around since recorded history. It’s business. Hope you have decent landlords, I’m done here.

RememberTheApollo_,

Yeah, ditto…“Ok, just one more match…”

RememberTheApollo_,

lol, and the kid starts a new match anyway.

RememberTheApollo_,

That’s usually good.

If it’s been literally years, you know the new writers and director are probably going to screw everything up relative to the original, and there will also probably be a change in cast.

I’d much prefer to forget the original than have a good memory of it and be disappointed with the changes.

RememberTheApollo_,

Why does he just say there’s five lights knowing there’s four so he can get out and start helping people who need him?

Because it’s an entertaining TV show that likes morality tales. Applying real-world logic to most any show would stop the show in the first 5 minutes.

RememberTheApollo_,

Please don’t be space aliens again.

Love Cavill, love the campy first and third Highlanders (well, mostly #1), but the second movie is stupid.
