And I’m not judging your private behavior. At no point did I say I was judging your private behavior. But if you do it in public, you’re an asshole. I have never been talking about what you do privately because it’s privately. Everything here should be taken with the context of this being in public as was implied.
For real. Everytime someone says “I like Discovery!” You’ve always got to have someone with this type of arrogance go “But it sucks though” and pretend like their opinion is fact.
Two comments I’ve seen from this person on two posts within an hour and both having the same negative energy. I’m just going to go ahead and hit the block button because it doesn’t look like they’re going to provide anything other than negative energy and i’m tired of it.
The part about the visuals of the ships is mostly opinion. I don’t think they’re that ugly.
I mean… there are a lot of differences that separate Starfleet from the US Military. That seems like a bit much. However the militaristic thing in general is completely explained in universe. It’s not just a “Oh, Starfleet is more of a military now!” thing. The Kelvin was rocking along, doing it’s typical stuff, and then suddenly a massive warship with unheard of weaponry shows up and proceeds to obliterate it, killing a massive amount of people and forcing over 800 other people to run for their lives. All in no time at all and within Federation borders. Prime Timeline Starfleet beefed up the military aspect after the Borg and only increased due to the Dominion. Makes a lot of sense to me that they’d step up the militaristic aspect in a universe where a random incursion within their own borders left them completely defenseless. Then 20ish years later, the fleet that was sitting at Earth and is responsible for Earths defense is completely wiped out in less than 10 minutes by that same ship. At that point it would be absolutely idiotic to not have Starfleet be more militaristic.
This is exactly what I’ve had to end up doing in a few games. Some games I don’t mind. Like Battlefront 2. I used to play, and win, tournaments in it so when friends call me in to help them with a game or something it’s great because you get a ton of praise and hype. Your friends going “FUCK THEM UP DUDE! YEAH! GO FOR IT!” Or the thanks for helping a friend. But that same prowess meant that (even if there was easily accessible invite pvp) I can’t fight any of my friends. There are ways you kind of can and everytime I’ve suggested it it’s always a resounding and hard no. I’ve had similar levels of skill in other games that I actively tone down around my friends because I want to be able to play against them and not just play with them. I don’t give a shit if I win or lose. I give a shit that I’m hanging out with people who I like and playing games I enjoy.
Neither do I. I’ve heard so much from so many people about it being a ‘better’ extension in all these ways but I mean… it just comes off like audiophile-style conversations about how this specific record player with x speaker set allows for the warmth better than this other set that costs the same amount of money. That amount being your blood, various organs, and the life energies of everything in a 50 mile radius.
How is it better when no one fucking supports it?!
