I’m not sure about android but he was supposed to be Martian and have red skin. However there were a lot of complaints about ‘devil’ comparisons.

You’re in good company. The same thing happened to me and my posts. Also happened to Picard M. We both had our posts removed and is banned for reasons we couldn’t figure out. I ended up making a second account to ask that instance why my posts weren’t able to be seen. Then the same admin (the one who banned us and removed the posts) then contacted us to try to elaborate but has no real answer. Started giving reasons for removal that made no sense within reality, nevermind their insanely vague rules.

The mods and admins are way too inconsistent over there. They do what they want, they don’t enforce. It’s exactly why I outright left lemmy.ml and don’t bother to engage with them anymore. It’s not consistent enough to know what to do and what not to do.

They wanna act like petulant children and throw shit at the walls then they can do so on their own.

His way of talking pisses me off so fucking bad. Everytime he says something even vaguely poignant or interesting he has to deliver exactly the same. Trying to sell it like it’s a massive mindblowing moment when what he said was the astronomical equivalent of “2+2=4”. All with the most intensely smug look on his face.

Just laughed so hard at this I think a part of my lung came out

The mushrooms are some omnipresent thing connecting all space and time together and giving some special super powers somehow?

Complete and utter nonsense that is an outright fabrication. What you’re describing does not exist in Discovery. You’re collapsing 3-4 different things into one while misunderstanding every single one of them.

The mushrooms are some omnipresent thing

No they’re not. Nothing in Discovery is omnipresent. The closest thing is Carl which that can be argued.

I misread this as omniscient. The Network is slightly omnipresent but it’s not sentient and makes no decision. It’s merely a root system/highway. It also doesn’t exist in ALL places. It only exists where life exists. The network does not have root structures in intergalactic space, as an example.

thing connecting all space and time together

That’s accurate. The Mycelial Network (the fungal root structure that permeates an extra layer of space, similar to subspace and transwarp) does connect all of time and space.

special super powers somehow?

No one has super special powers. The closest is Stamets but that’s because of genetic engineering. DNA from a unique species of tardigrade was taken and incorporated into Stamets’ own DNA. Now he has the ability to see time a little differently due to that DNA and he has the ability to navigate the Mycelial Network. End of ‘special super powers’.

From what I can tell, you took the Mycelial Network, the Tardigrade, Stamets Ability, and the jahSepp (which are a sentient race of fungus that live within the mycelial network and breakdown organic material the same way that fungus does on Earth) and then collapsed them into all one giant mess.

That’s not the force and it’s nowhere even close to it.

… not even close and I have literally no idea how you managed to get to Gelar shields from that but okay.

I’m going to check out of this conversation. Nothing seems to be gained from this.

causality

Not sure you’re using this correctly here as the spore drive doesn’t break the link between cause and effect either.

Nah. I can’t watch alternate period pieces like that, Man in the High Castle and even Inglorious Bastards. My brain cannot cope with history being different for some reason and I start getting really uncomfortable and stressed out/anxious. The sensory issues that I’ve gotten from my autism are the dumbest things possible.

However I haven’t seen the final season of the Expanse. So considering starting that up again… That being said I also have never seen Stargate, Babylon 5 or Battlestar Galactica. So not like I have a shortage of sci-fi at the moment.

I’ve been having fun sorting those. Got 'em all named and prepped for upload on Thursdays. Files marked correctly. Even planned out in a particular order to maximize the feeling of interconnectedness.

The people who made those are fucking geniuses. I am merely a hobbit standing on the backs of Titans.

Hey I’m barely 30 and I do this lol I keep forgetting the notes app exists. That and my notes app doesn’t keep a reminder in the app tray like a message notification does

I swear I had another version saved somewhere that said the same thing. I went looking for that one first but couldn’t find it. Goddammit I’m going to have to look again now.

Basically anything from Cyberpunk. That aesthetic is so astoundingly cool to me. The eye implants probably the most. When I was a kid I played this Terminator game for Gamecube and you could activate terminator vision whenever. I always thought it was the coolest thing ever and that’s not really changed. Gimme those special eyes. Wanna see the world in a new light.

Miles Spears, descendant of Britney. He’s the bardic engineer. When he fucks up he starts a mini dance routine and sings “Oops I Did It Again”

It is an insane leap to call this gatekeeping when it’s actively making fun of gatekeeping. If the line ended with Odo/Quark, sure, but it doesn’t. The name is misspelled. Directly making fun of people who claim to be gatekeepers while knowing nothing about what they’re talking about.

For real. Una, Ortegas, Uhura, La’an… All fucking incredible. Honestly even in Discovery that sort of continues. His security officer originally wasn’t La’An, it was a Barzan named Nahn. She proved her own on multiple occasions. The breathing apparatus is an obvious weakness but still manages to fucking own it.

Pike did not make any fucking missteps in choosing his crew. Well, with the exception of that idiot who took over for Spock in S2E1, got way too arrogant, and proved that blue shirts are just as susceptible to red shirts when it comes to being fuckin annihilated.

Are you? ARE YOU?!

And more importantly…

Am I?

And I don’t. When you start deciding what is and isn’t canon all by yourself you end up fracturing the community to an enormous degree. Look at Star Wars. That entire community is filled with constant toxicity because of how hateful people get over disagreements of what is and isn’t real or what does and doesn’t “understand Star Wars”.

The behavior fosters nothing positive because there is nothing positive about the basis of what you’re doing. If you are ignoring canon and saying “They don’t get it” then that’s inherently negative. Everything from then on is based off of a bitterness and hatred about what came before. You will always descend and spiral into some depressing group of people who are now believing themselves to be the sole deciders of what is and isn’t canon because they are the only ones who could possibly understand what (input thing here) truly stands for and is about.

What you’re advocating for is just gatekeeping but about canon instead of fans. It’s… really gross behavior and frankly egotistical. Something can be canon without you liking it. Simply because you disagree with it doesn’t give you the right to say “Oh, no, I’m ignoring this as canon because it doesn’t fit with what I want” while engaging with the fandom as a whole. If you don’t like it and want to pretend it doesn’t exist, fine, but when you start going into full on discussions and injecting that bitterness and cynicism into it? That’s just repugnant.

I’ll be avoiding that like the plague, thank you very much.
