Sure

That is irrelevant to my complaint. His tone of voice is the problem. It has nothing to do with the method of teaching someone or using enthusiasm. It’s his remarkably smug and arrogant attitude when he does so.

Just pruning the Mycelial network, my man <3

Yeah there’s a lot of missing context and unfortunately they nuked their account so I can’t see the posting history.

You weren’t confrontational though. Don’t worry!

Stamets,

That’s a you problem, not a reality problem.

No. I’m not ignoring anything. Your points don’t make sense. You keep saying “but simulations could do it” despite the show emphatically saying that the simulations kept repeatedly failing. Whether or not cells are machinery is irrelevant. The network required a living construct to engage with. You can keep trying to use real science on that all you want but the Mycelial Network doesn’t exist. You don’t get to try and force technological limitations on it as we understand them TODAY when the tech is hundreds of years in the future and based on something completely different.

I’m not engaging with this conversation any further. You’re arguing in bad faith and i’m not interested. Goodbye.

I’m not awake enough yet to comprehend this but will respond soon. Sorry!

The network doesn’t seem to feed off of anything but is instead symbiotic in a way, the way that mushrooms are on earth. They’re just a part of the life/death/rebirth cycle.

They’ve never conclusively stated that the network only works in milky way though. Intergalactic space was a no go but they’ve never tried jumping to another galaxy yet. Be crazy if they did in season 5…

Yawn. Low effort troll is low effort.

Blocked. Got better things to do than acknowledge your existence.

Intra-ship beaming

I don’t see that as breaking of canon but a demonstration of situations. They talk about how intra-ship beaming is dangerous but they don’t say it isn’t possible, just that it is used sparingly and in specific circumstances. Meanwhile Lorca is someone who doesn’t give the remotest of fucks about Starfleet and is using it to get home. He’s also trying to be secretive and is generally pretty impatient.

I wish. Alas I am broke. No pie here. Just sadness and failed attempts to get my cat to cuddle with me for warmth.

I never claimed that Star Trek didn’t share the same theme. I said it still holds the traits and beliefs of Star Trek and stays to those values. I also said that every show has its own distinct feeling and vibe while still sharing those beliefs. The traits are kept consistent, the code of morals consistent, it’s outright false to say that they do not stick by it or stand by it. It’s also wrong to say it doesn’t “grab ahold of that well” because it’s an opinion, not objective truth.

The interactions between the characters

There is no hint of “teeny” behavior in the show or in the way they interact with each other. There just isn’t. Everyone treats one another like an adult (once the show gets going). As mentioned, the only “teeny” behavior you could possibly claim is them displaying emotion more than other shows. You also say “So many are interested in hooking up instead of their duties” which is just an outright lie. Burnham is the only one who ever seeks an active relationship and at no point does it ever supersede her duties.

Because I was speaking in hyperbole.

I do not believe you. You started this off by saying that Pike is the only redeemable part of the show. Then you say that Discovery is well done. Then you say it isn’t well done, it’s “teeny” and “cheap and lazy”. You also claim that the show is missing some completely immeasurable “feeling”, say their traits aren’t consistent and are then attempting to gatekeep what is and isn’t star trek by saying it “doesn’t feel proper”. There’s no consistency at all.

Everything you just said was opinion and you attempted to pass it off as fact. I have absolutely zero interest in ever engaging with someone who is gatekeeping and insistent on saying something isn’t real Trek while claiming things about the show that are factually inaccurate. I have no place in my life for such negative behavior. Like I said before. If someone wants to not like Discovery that’s fine but lying about the show and attempting to gatekeep it by saying it isn’t real Trek or doesn’t understand it? Yeah, that’s not okay behavior. I’m just going to pass entirely on all that. Bye.

No worries!

Yeah people underestimate the problems that come with ADHD. They’re actually quite insane.

You’re not wrong about the continuity. Just sort of all over the place at times.

And of course. I’ve got no intentions of spamming the community or anything. I’m not doing it for attention or whatever counts as karma on Lemmy. I just like having an excuse to go through all the stuff I have saved. Plus you get to see a lot of other jokes and stuff from other people. Not to mention the great conversations that could arise from it.

Or toilet paper/other hygiene products. The first 5 years of my 20s evaporated due to an abusive relationship dumping me into homelessness. I stole more hygiene products than I’d like to admit…

Those are grippy socks. They’re often given to patients when they’re admitted to hospital. Over the past few years they’ve become synonymous with being admitted to a mental health ward.

The meme is saying that they’re afraid of being honest to their therapist because their therapist might admit them to a psych ward against their will.

Psych Ward Socks | Know Your Meme. A version of the meme I posted is even used in there as an example, funnily enough.

She sprained her ankle earlier that day so she had disadvantage on dexterity checks.

I’m actually playing DnD right now. Too perfect on timing.

Earlier in this thread you claimed to be part of the LGBT community. Now you’re saying you’re in a heterosexual relationship with your wife. My guess is that you’re “bi” because you kissed a dude in college and didn’t hate the concept. Now you just believe that you’re bisexual and get to involve yourself in the community when you don’t have a place in it.

Even if you are legitimately bi, I’m here to inform you that the community wants nothing to do with you. You’re a small-minded and hateful bigot who keeps spreading lies. Nothing will change your mind because you believe you have full understanding. Immediately you have put yourself in a place of total ignorance on purpose because you’re afraid of your world view being shattered.

Now. I want you to think. Are you angry? Pissed off that I decided to take something about you and crumple it up, showing that it means nothing and using that against you? Awww. That sucks, huh? Then maybe you should stop doing it to other people when you are beyond clueless.

Wow. A lot of this is brand new to me and that’s saying something. This is hysterical. You should post it! It also really does explain quite a bit… extremely conveniently no less.
