They're the same picture.

To expand...one of the biggest goals of a capitalist is increasing profit. What better way to do this than to take over and manipulate the government of whatever state you're operating in to cut you special breaks? It's the pinnacle of capitalist achievement.

You create laws to regulate it...the capitalists will manipulate them and control your government anyways.

You loosen regulations to "promote competition" or whatever excuse they use, and then there's nothing stopping them from fucking you even harder. Capitalism and the state are always intertwined, one feeds off the other. Even the Soviet Union was sometimes said to be "state capitalist", where basically the entire country was under control of one "corporation".

This is what you consider a fun Wednesday night? Or Thursday morning, depending.

I'll be convinced they can fully replace most trade work when they figure out fine motor control and finally build servo or hydraulic systems that don't act all janky and with slop a mile wide. When they can strip a wire, and then terminate it into a screw terminal, and then install an outlet in the wall. All with one robot, using each tool as needed as finely tuned as a human would do it. And also being able to adapt to different situations on the spot. For instance "shit, the hole for the outlet overlaps a stud, wtf do I do to fix this" type stuff.

From what I've seen even from the best like Boston Dynamics, there are still many decades to go before we have fully capable robotic trade workers.

Oh, funny you mention that, because in my country, my government paid to have fiber laid but the useless bloodsucking capitalist ISPs didn't do absolutely jack shit with the money and pocketed it. That's why were having to do stupid shit like Starlink now to connect the people out in the sticks.

My electricity is also provided by a co-op.

Would be kind of hard to play a game that didn’t get published by the evil capitalist lol

I've played about a dozen versions of Tetris over the last 30 years, a lot of which were written by just one dude and released to the world without the expectation of compensation. There are literally hundreds of ports/clones that run on everything from a Nokia phone to a Unix/Linux text mode interface.

Were it not for western publishers, I'm pretty sure it would have spread anyway just due to its addictive nature and it being an excellent time sink. Just like chess and checkers didn't need a capitalist to spread around the globe.

I'm literally using an entire operating system right now that not one capitalist controls. It runs most of the internet's infrastructure. Sure, the capitalists can use it and even contribute, but they don't get to dictate how you run your system.

the servers seem to do all the heavy lifting so it never seems slow

Never thought the day would come when an EMAIL CLIENT's performance benefited from cloud processing. How bloated is this shit?

Guess you haven't seen this one. It's in the first couple minutes.

Did I say I support the status quo? No, I did not. But your "solution" is also not acceptable to me. I'd say the same damn thing if I ever found out that people who lived under the holocaust harmed random people in the streets of Germany. That is simply never justifiable. I would take my own life before I ever take the life of a noncombatant civilian who has personally done me no harm. That's something I could never live with, maybe you can.

TimeSquirrel,
@TimeSquirrel@kbin.social avatar

I don't have an answer to that. Nobody has a good answer to that. It doesn't mean I condone targeting civilians, no matter who it is. They both have the right to exist and live in peace.

TimeSquirrel,
@TimeSquirrel@kbin.social avatar

Sorry, justify it and sugarcoat to yourself and speculate however you want, you're not going to convince me both sides aren't evil sick and twisted assholes in this conflict with both Palestinian and Israeli civilians caught in the middle.

"Stupid northerners and their fancy trains."

"Hey, how TF they getting all these fuckloads of troops out here so fast?"

30 will be here a lot quicker than you think. I also used to think 30 was old AF when I was 20.

Now I'm 41 and I don't know how it happened so goddamn fast. Every year, I get more and more anxious about trying to get shit done before my time comes.

Acquire property to call my own for one. This renting thing is getting real old. Something to leave my kid other than a busted up old car would be nice.

Edit: Hey, looks like zoomers and old millennials aren't so different after all. They're right. The fuckin' boomers took it all.

How old is your mom, 80? People in their 40s and 50s played Atari and are pretty familiar with video games. This joke is dying quickly.

We must keep going and find the atmotesseract.

TimeSquirrel,
@TimeSquirrel@kbin.social avatar

Yeah, the biggest delineation is "world without computers and digital electronics" vs. the world after all that proliferated. I'd still consider the 80s and 90s part of the "modern" era, what we used to call the "information age" or "computer revolution".

Pretty much all our modern tech is just more advanced versions of the same shit we already had in the 80s. Even social media (BBSs).

TimeSquirrel,
@TimeSquirrel@kbin.social avatar

I'm not sure, my Dad is a 50s kid and he always complained that shit went downhill in the 80s. He displayed absolutely no interest in the media of the decade, the culture, music, or whatever, and probably felt very out of place. I don't feel the same way. I am just as comfortable with the world now as I was back then.

No. You're the AI. I'm the only real person on the Internet.

Tylenol/acetaminophen mixes. You need to tell them what to look out for. Surprisingly deadly stuff.

Oldest developer trick in the book. Program in a bunch of useless delays everywhere. On the next few updates, slowly remove them and say you are "improving" the system.

Not just software. Hardware too. Open up all the things! I want a full schematic printed on the back of my refrigerator again.

Everybody in here does all this crazy shit with their system. I just wanna use my computer, man. I cruise on defaults all day long. I barely even bother changing the DE's default wallpaper.
