When you’re talking to an open source dev, just remember that they are literally giving you their time for free, and they are people who don’t like to be treated poorly....
You’re implying that to even install the simplest of programs, I’d need to read and understannd many thousands of lines of code, starting with the FOSS project itself and then spidering out to every dependency. This speaks nothing of the fact that it may be written in multiple languages, some of which I am not familiar with, and even if I am, code can be written in ways that’s almost impossible to understand. This might take a week for a 200 line project.
Reminds me of when my employer said they were going to stop using open source software until a team had vetted it completely. Lol, once they talked to engineers that idea died immediately.
Omg you did it! Bi-millenial troll-fuckery award goes to LemmyIsFantasticForBeingAnnoying!!! -2000 karma and counting! Imagine all the people having a good day when they scrolled down and saw some stupid shit take you wrote! So much fun!!!
Icy hot is one of the shittiest products ever in my experience. I used it normally once and it barely had an effect. So I used more and basically got a severe chemical burn.
Wow, what an incredibly Internet-cloistered thing to say. No, this absolutely in no way neared coming from Reddit. I’m sure it predated reddit by at least 100 years.
I currently have a PC running Windows 11 that my S/O and I use multi-seated with Aster Multiseat. However, we’re both equally sick of Windows and are interested in switching to Linux....
I second this. For a while my Nvidia card worked great on pop os for gaming. Then one day a kernel upgrade hosed it all. I tried for days to get it working again and finally realized I was swimming upstream and always would be. Bought an amd card and now I hardly have any issues.
Nvidia usually worked for me fine outside of gaming but I did literally find some distros that had severe issues even in the installer sometimes. Nvidia intentionally fucks over Linux support so I decided it was best not to support them anymore anyhow.
Sidenote, my games all look great and run better than they did on the Nvidia card. I always thought amd graphics cards were second rate, but I don’t think that’s at all true these days.
Damn. I didn’t know it went back that far. I remember him making one or two trans jokes that didn’t land but nothing I couldn’t chock up to a mistake. But the last one I saw he literally talked for 30 minutes about trans people. None of it was nice or funny.
Anyone here struggle with trying to adjust brightness on Gnome in low light? At the low end, the steps are way too far apart, and at high brightness they’re almost imperceptible. Every other operating system uses a brightness curve that better matches human perception....
Out of the box it can play audio in the background, and now that extensions are available you can block ads as well. You don’t really need constantly updating 3rd party clients or questionable firewalls anymore if you just want usable youtube on a phone.
Yeah I’m almost positive you’re right and the person you’re responding to is not. All browsers on iOS are skins of safari essentially right now. That’s about to change but only thanks to the EU
I posted this as a comment in another post but when I got done I realized it would probably just be better as its own post. I’m sure I could find the answers I need myself but frankly I trust the userbase here more than most online articles....
A lot of people lately have whined that Linux people are zealoted evangelists. You sure wouldn’t know that in this thread… Most popular jist of responses is “make sure its the right tool for the job first”
