WaxedWookie,

Not sure about you, but I’ll take workers reminding everyone who is in charge and how democracy works over cops constantly shooting the innocent - people, dogs, whatever, and generally carrying on like thugs.

WaxedWookie,

Because while it may result in a stable, positive, loving relationship (or just mutually great, harmless sex that’s what they’re after), it’s a strong predictor when people are actively seeking a relationship with that kind of gap. Think about the likely reasons someone would seek that kind of thing, and the likely outcomes. I think it’s reasonable to look at this sort of thing with suspicion, but not to immediately dust off the pitchforks and light the torches.

Not all middle-aged single men distributing candy from the back of their windows van are paedophiles, but it’s both reasonable and responsible to look at what they’re doing with suspicion.

It’s interesting you’d bring politics into this when conservatives seem so wrapped up in protecting child brides, child beauty pageants, fetishise youth, and appear to be massively over-represented represented in paedophilia stats.

WaxedWookie,

Why?

I think they can be useful thought exercises to tease out people’s priorities and values.

WaxedWookie,

I guess Israel were too busy genociding Palestinians to make it to the meeting.

WaxedWookie,

Maybe Israel shouldn’t fund Hamas over secular orgs to manufacture the pretext for the genocide they’re now committing in order to create an ethnostate.

WaxedWookie,

Imagine claiming history has spanned a total of 75 years and that an attempted invasion at the beginning of time justifies a genocide in progress today.

WaxedWookie,

Those scheming betrayers also left Australia out of the transport plan for EU members.

How much lead paint do you need to eat to see the loaded language in these headlines and think “yeah - seems legit.”

WaxedWookie,

So the EU isn’t allowed to cooperate with a country (that’s at least part of the single market and contiguous continent), because they saw no value in including Britain, and that was a scheming betrayal?

What point are you failing to make here?

WaxedWookie,

It’s functionally a wish every 4 weeks, and you know if you’ll succeed or not before you attempt whatever it is.

Win the lottery, invent time travel, learn to fly, solve world hunger, conquer the universe, create the other artifacts…

WaxedWookie,

I’ve been avoiding people management for years - and about a year ago, I was apprached by a company I’ve worked with for an exec gig. Dream job that would have shot me forward 10+ years in my career.

I lost it because I haven’t managed people since I worked in retail. It’s held me back pretty seriously, and I understand now that it’s better me leading a team than most of the schmucks I’ve worked for.

WaxedWookie,

If there were aliens, there’s zero chance Trump could resist bragging that he knows all about them.

Work like it’s a crippling addiction - it’s not as though crackheads have miserable lives, their bodies literally falling apart as their minds figuratively do the same, until they either muster the incredible willpower to endure the intense suffering required to drop the habit, enduring lifelong consequences, or die an early death.

As far as red flags go…

WaxedWookie,

I’ve been under general anaesthetic 3 times in my life…

The first time was at a teaching hospital - I know the patient before me had created a bit of a bloody mess. One of the juniors was struggling to fit the bracket that would keep my cannulated arm from flopping off the table - a senior came over and fixed it, then asked the junior

“Have you changed your gloves?”

“uhhh …no?”

“CHANGE YOUR GLOVES!”

The last time I went under, I was chatting with the anaesthetist as he was prepping to put me under - seemed like a nice guy, but a bit of a loose cannon. As he put me under, he said something along the lines of

“We’ll take care of you - this was the stuff that Michael Jackson was on.”

“…wait what?”

WaxedWookie,

For a laugh, here’s what this definitely consistent person with a principled dislike of politics (which definitely isn’t just things they disagree with) posted immediately after their complaint:

US fed doesn’t recognize basic ethics laws, how unsurprising

A boring dystopia

WaxedWookie,

I’m sorry people aren’t posting content relevant to your personal preferences.

May I suggest you use filters, or perhaps go fuck yourself?

Whoopsie! Sydney's road planners just discovered induced demand is a thing, after opening a new motorway.

For those outside Sydney, the New South Wales state government recently opened a new spaghetti intersection just west of Sydney's Central Business District.

It was supposed to solve traffic. Instead, it's turned into a giant car park:

"For the third straight day, motorists and bus passengers endured bumper-to-bumper traffic on the City West Link and Victoria Road. A trip from Haberfield to the Anzac Bridge on the City West Link averaged an agonising 44 minutes in the morning peak on Wednesday.

"Several months ago, Transport for NSW’s modelling had suggested traffic from the interchange would add only five to 10 minutes to trips on Victoria Road through Drummoyne and over the Iron Cove Bridge during morning peaks.

"Those travel delays have now blown out."

So what do motorists say when their shiny new road that was supposed to solve traffic instead turns into a massive traffic jam?

'Dude! Just one more lane!'

From the article:

"[Roads Minister John] Graham and his Transport boss Josh Murray appear reluctant to do what many motorists reckon is the obvious solution.

"That is, add lanes or make changes at the pinch-points that are causing the pain. A three-lane to one merge point from Victoria Road onto the Anzac Bridge, along with two lanes merging into one on the City West Link, are proving to be painful bottlenecks."

WaxedWookie,

While the money sold have been spent on public transport, it’s a bit fucking premature to put this down to induced demand - the tangled mess has been operating for what - like 3 business days? People are getting confused and doing silly bullshit. It’s a problem, but it’s not induced demand.

Induced demand is a thing, and it’ll almost certainly be relevant here - there’s no need to lie about it - give it a minute to settle first. This is the benefit of being correct - there’s no need to be dishonest.

WaxedWookie,

Musk is the best possible evidence of this - an incredibly stupid, fragile edgelord born to other peoples’ wealth, lucked his way into more on the backs of others’ work. Now, everything he touches loses billions.

WaxedWookie,

Is there a reason they shouldn’t be beaten into itty bitty bits with the antitrust hammer?

If you’ve paid any attention whatsoever to the Netanyahu government, all of this was predictable to the point of inevitability. Spew far-right nonsense and genocidal rhetoric, maintain an open-air concentration camp as you consistently chip away at the Palestinian population and land, back Hamas over the relatively secular, moderate PLO, let encourage them kill your own population and wait for a pretext to stomp on the accelerator toward genocide.

Opposition to a genocide has no inherent tie to race or religion - to call that opposition antisemitic is to make that genocide an inherent trait of semitism - that’s antisemitic. Similarly, what would we call funding a group that will kill as many Israelis as it can over more peaceful opposition? Antisemitic.

Netanyahu is the worst kind of scum.

WaxedWookie,

Not pictured: The carnage inside the train as the masses of regular taxplayers get thrown around in the process of protecting the wealthy.

WaxedWookie,

Maybe, just maybe it’s an alignment of ideology and geopolitical interests across the ruling class rather than genetics.

Maybe Jews were pushed into usury, maybe they’re over-represented in certain spaces like Ivy League schools because they’re wealthier on average, which buys a better education and more opportunities, perpetuating that wealth and success.

Pretty much anything the Nazis blame on Jewish genetics can easily be boiled down to class intetests without the weird blood libel conspiracism and insistence everyone they don’t like is a Jew.

WaxedWookie,

Because the GOP has their house in order above from the trump problem.

…and MTG problem ^and ^Santos ^problem ^^and ^^Gaetz ^^problem ^^^and ^^^Boebert ^^^problem ^^^^and ^^^^Lake ^^^^problem ^^^^^and…

WaxedWookie,

I’ve lived under a flight path, ~9km/6miles from the airport - while I understand the difference between a 787 and a Cessna 172, I’ve got no earthly idea why anyone would choose to have a runway in their front yard.
