I think you confuse yourself with your own wording. Monetary value is justification in a capitalist system. It is how everyone is judged. If you can not make that money, you are considered a burden, no matter how much non-monetary value you may provide.
The system doesn't really care how you do it. That is the realm of human bias.
Yes, but there is intentional scarcity in a capitalist system.
We have more than enough technological development to solve most scarcity issues in the world... the problem is theyre not economically viable. Which is to say, they're not profitable enough. You don't (immediately) get more out of it than you put in. All you get is the safety and well being of the people in the system. Which is not the primary concern in a capitalist system.
Scientists have to list all the sources they use. And they quickly get called out for doing mistakes in that regard and suffer a loss of trust in their work....
There is still an issue of human bias, though. A thought is not accepted unless it's widely accepted. Even much of our established science was once a pipe dream, even with reproducible proof, until it was accepted on a wider scale.
It's not as simple as just providing proof and letting people accept it, you have to appeal to them. Which is exactly what politicians do.
I have an issue in general with scifi totally ignoring the existence of bicycles, but star trek is particularly fun to think about since in so many situations beaming down in an away team with electric mountain bicycles would be incredibly useful in a basic utilitarian sense. Like shuttles, bicycles could be treated as...
Right, they're inferring that their opinion was universal. There was a lot of controversy @urrounding the movie, but it had little to do with the quality and a lot to do with peoples inability to remove personal biases from their viewing experience.
It's not terrible, it's just incredibly underwhelming. It's a movie where occasionally things happen. Sometimes fantasy things happen. But somehow in the most boring way possible. Eventually the movie ended.
I'm imagine if it was a different class of ship, it would also have different jeffries tubes. I think the Enterprise, Defiant, and Voyager tubes are all styled differently, but consistently with their ship. Not to mention the DS9 tubes would have to be different because they were designed by Cardassians (and built by Bajoran slave labor).
Thats the intention, but a lot of buildings are getting half-finished, then sold when they lose funding... just to be demolished so they can start all over again.

For me it’s definitely the Dark Tower, but the Golden Compas was also a huge letdown.
