Vulcan Sex Workers

It has occurred to me that Vulcan must have some form of sex industry to handle those going through Pon Farr who aren’t currently married or otherwise involved. Otherwise, they’d have constant issues with violence from those suffering the “blood fever” whose spouse was far away, or had died, or for some other reason had...

Zorque,

They have meditations they can do with a group of fellow Vulcan's to help suppress the urge in the case of not being able to procreate with their mate. It comes up in Voyager.

Zorque,

Until you hit critical mass on those small politicians, and they change the playing field. The problem is seeing them only as stepping stones on the way to greatness, and not as a power in their own right.

Zorque,

But he's still a real life form, even if he wasn't created in the traditional human way.

Zorque,

And kind of a dick about it, too.

Zorque,

Oma did all those things. They did none of it. She was literally the only one who ever did anything. All they did was ignore Oma and Anubis and Daniel.

Now when Morgan LeFey was trying to help the gang with the Ori, they gave her a proverbial bitch-slapping.

Though, really, their non-interference was basically an application of the Star Trek Prime Directive. Basically the same kind of thing we recommend when dealing with nature, make as little impact as possible. Its only as cruel as nature itself is cruel.

Zorque,

How far did they take the teen drama aspect of it?

Zorque,

Different ships have different size requirements. There's lots of space in a Galaxy class starship, so the tubes can afford to be bigger (and thus easier for people to crawl through). The Defiant is a very utilitarian ship, so space is at a premium and thus the tubes are smaller.

Context matters, even if you don't care about it.

Zorque,

I guess different folks for different folks. Personally I like dimensions to a character and not just a flat stereotype.

Zorque,

Are they ads spotify put there, or specific sponsors for the podcast as part of the base audio?

Zorque,

You become what you hate most sometimes.

Sucks, doesn't it?

Zorque,

I only turn into goo after a particularly bad day at work, though.

Zorque,

I didn't know about the button at the bottom, I ended up going into the settings and changing the theme back to the previous one.

I do like the more dynamic index, I may have to check that out. I'm not entirely opposed to new designs (much as I might bitch about change), it just gets frustrating when things are designed for a specific subset of people with no options to tailor your own experience.

Zorque,

Newspapers use every ounce of space they can, they don't leave giant swathes of it bare. It's not like there's extra articles sitting along the side of the page... it's just blank.

In fact, there's often more white space on the sides of novel pages, depending on how they're printed.

Zorque,

I'd often see posts complaining about the default app, mostly about how the video player never worked or how things took forever to load.

Most people in the comments seemed to assume there was just no possible alternative. I was happy to extoll the virtues of 3rd party apps, though I doubt I had much of an audience.

Zorque,

What's the best way to get rid of a body... theoretically?
