taco bell in particular is embracing the kiosks and it’s wonderful. they have signs in the lobby saying ‘order at the kiosk’ even. and why wouldn’t you? why do people in the US have this pig-like stubbornness where they must have a human stand there and ‘PeRsONaLIze tHE iNtERacTion’ or some shit
fascinating hunger games is having such a cultural resurgence given how shitty everything in our world is. i love the series but christ every scene is dark and depressing
i used ynab for a while but am now realizing it’s probably worse for my mental health to keep track of things that granularly. need to go back to a more zoomed out, normal person sort of management scheme
i’d literally rather die than go to a party. unfocused undirected unscheduled endless socializing where i have to pretend like i’m having 100% fun is a torture sentence
fuck why can’t i live in europe. almost every day i have the opposite experience where a well meaning midwest person tries to be friendly and my brain just…stalls and does something like this
but this is correct, that’s where the mic is, it’s more comfortable than holding it to my ear [especially the modern smartphone shape], and i like knowing i’m talking straight into the mic
honestly the fact that we have artificial meats that are almost as good as proper meat, we should be switching entirely. we are creating and torturing trillions of souls simply so mcdonals can have burgers
yeah, the sheer breadth of obscure topics that were able to form a sizeable enough group on reddit is so fragile and special and hard to replicate. such a shame.
they may have won this battle but the war is still ongoing. reddit is a public company, and it is a modern website, which means it is going to get shittier and shittier and it is never going to stop. i still go there for sports and news but anything of substance or merit i try to share here instead because fuck them. i think over time it’ll hollow itself out even more.
i mean shit i guess they can here anyway, but it’s stunning to see that written down. oh they thought they were doing the right thing? oh that’s fine then
i love WFH because i can wake up feeling like shit and log on immediately to start the clock instead of waking up on my own time and giving my peak hours to the capitalists
similarly, it really irritates when people tiptoe around giving ‘medical advice’ online or scold people for asking mental health questions in a forum – which is designed for people to commiserate and share advice. ‘the doctor’ is inaccessible to many people for many reasons; it’s way less of a challenge to get out sensitive thoughts by typing online to peers vs asking A Doctor and getting a Professional Reply about it
i legit avoid stores where the staff are notably friendly and talkative. i just want to get the thing i need, not feel obliged to talk and rude if i’m not in the mood [which is unfortunately often, but still a reality]
if there are speed limits i usually am forced to spend more time dicking around looking for signs or cops or checking the speedometer, instead of focusing on the road and how safe my current speed actually feels
