My favourite book is Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. My edition has a foreword about how Lewis Carroll wasn’t really a pedophile. He just had so many pictures of naked kids, spent so much time with them and wanted to marry the real Alice while she was young solely because he had soooo much love for children. But when you ask her either about the Prism or the dragon riders she has no idea what they are about. She thinks they are just hunting the Nautiloid. She knows that there are Githyanki symbols on the Prism but that’s it.
To be frank I went away from Gentoo for much the same reason. And the constant compilation. I only used it once after that for a small project where I needed to minimise what actually lands in the OS.
Reminds me of the novelisation of Day of the Tentacle that had the title “My Physics Adventure or It’s Never Too Late to Stop Pollution, So Let’s Start Yesterday”.
Real people also sometimes do stupid shit that seems to go against their nature. I’d keep playing. You could make your regret inform all your future decisions.
