I really enjoyed Fish Story too! I sought out other films by the same director/writer, Yoshihiro Nakamura, and found a few others i really enjoyed. I can’t claim they’ll have the same wow factor or impact as Fish Story but i love these films for similar reasons i love Fish Story.
Golden Slumbers was crazy, weird, beautiful, and fun. Awesome ending! Highly recommend. Much different from Fish Story but with a similar sort of quirkiness. Another one i found around the same time was The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God in a Coin Locker. That’s a really weird one, but again with beautiful scenery and a sort of mysterious air. Another one i caught more recently and really enjoyed was called A Boy and his Samurai. I wasn’t initially that interested in watching it but gave it a chance and I’m really glad i did. Such a sweet and charming film.
Video games: Weird Dreams and Spectre VR both for PC back in the early 90s iirc
Music: one artist i really enjoy that unfortunately died from covid in 2020 though he was only in his 20s… His name was Cesar Alexandre and i got to know and love much of his work as Lindsheaven Virtual Plaza. In fact, my first thought when i heard the opening track from their EP Daily Night Euphoria was that it would have been a great soundtrack for Spectre VR…
Interesting!! I’ll have to check that one out. I was a big fan of Moraff’s World and i played a lot of Steve Moraff’s other shareware games back in the day. Never heard of that one though!
What does your comment mean though? Feel free to attack my reading comprehension but i don’t actually think your comment is making a statement. Distill it so my slow ass understands and maybe (and that’s a big maybe) we can try to have some sort of conversation. Judging by the downvotes i presume your opinion is unpopular–i just don’t understand it well enough to see why.
Thanks for taking the time to break that down for me. I will just go ahead and attack my own reading comprehension–i never would have deduced that from their comment, no way.
Same here! I joined lemmy right around the time my main hdd took a dump–so there was probably a bit of influence coming from here…While scrambling to get another windows installed (and encountering a bunch of obstacles along the way) i finally decided to just try Linux Mint Cinnamon. Tbh, i wasn’t sure if my computer was bricked by the time i finally got mint to start up via usb. When it started working, i tried a few basic things–browsing the web, playing music, videos etc. When it all worked with a minimal amount of fuss, i decided it was time to give up windows if i could. Haven’t been back to windows since!
I’m in the same boat. I like having physical copies of my favorite games, music, movies, and shows. I also like supporting the artists/productions, so it’s a win-win that i can buy their products. I’ve always struggled to understand why someone would pay the same price (or nearly as much) for a strictly-digital copy.
Making everything fully digital has its advantages but i never once thought it would act as a complete replacement for physical media.
It would help if people would stop being deliberately obtuse for the sake of sounding intelligent while making a political statement. Wtf does your comment even mean, lol
People keep talking about “Federalizing the National Guard” and now you’ve got other States pledging their NG to Texas in defiance of the Supreme Court (see image)....
These are all reasons why they actually enjoy immigration. As a hot-button topic, this has paid out endlessly and will continue to because there’s no way immigration will be solved peacefully. So they get the fearmongering and political outrage out of it, in addition to cheap labor, and bogeymen to pin rape/violence on as well. They’re the perfect target for them to hate, and they love to hate. Nothing gets an old Republican fired up like illegal Mexicans coming here with their guns and drugs and taking our jobs and sending all the money back home and raping our daughters (“well not my daughter, but y’know” 🤠 ) and bringing caravans more of em in their wake
I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds
For real, you sold me on that trackball. That sounds like the coolest feature a phone could have, right down to the multi-color led built in beneath it. I really really hope we see a return to something like that! Touch screens are very useful and have their place but physical buttons/controls are usually preferred when done properly. Here’s a pic of the Nexus 1, that trackball indeed appears to be cool as fuck:

For me it’s the notification light you used to find on older phones, was particularly good to know if your phone was charged without picking it up
