All words were invented for a purpose. When that happens, they’re referred to as a neologism.

Sometimes it takes a new dev coming in for management to give the greenlight for a major overhaul. It’s shitty, but it’s true.

“So, how did you two meet?”

“He spent 2 years on a linux support forum helping me fix and nVidia driver issue. we’ve been married for 6 years this March.”

gregorum, (edited )

That’s not really true here though. This is in the middle of an urban area, not in some big open empty space that’s unoccupied, like Montana, or North Dakota. This is in the middle of Houston, Texas, a very populous city.

let’s just ignore how the pretext for this line was Data observing how, sometimes, terrorism is an effective vehicle for social and/or political change.

edit: just to be clear, this isn’t a criticism, just an observation about the glibness of the meme as compared to the seriousness context.

Ira Stephen Behr and Ronald D. Moore later lamented that they didn’t push back harder against Berman and other producers for queer representation on DS9 in the DS9 documentary What We Left Behind. They notably had tried in the beginning with Garak and Bashir and were immediately shut down.

Behr, in particular, really felt bad about it.

Edit: Andy Robinson, who played Garak, had a real “fuck you” attitude about that and continued to play Garak as “omnisexual” anyway. There are little hints and innuendos throughout the entire entire series between him and Dr. Bashir.

the Enterprise comes from a long line of nudists. we all know that.

gregorum,

It’s pretty dumb when record companies limit distribution by region like this.

gregorum,

Hey! Bioneural gel packs make the Voyager smart and not at all silently screaming in existential terror!

gregorum,

Andrew Robinson himself has said in many interviews that he played the character as “Omnisexual,” and initially attracted to Bashir. In fact, he was originally written that way until Rick Berman put an end to it out of nothing more than homophobia, but Robinson continued to play him that way regardless.

Most trek shows were on primetime network television. Once they went to streaming, the swearing came back.

Although, even during the primetime network era, we got plenty of alien swearwords, mostly in Klingon. One or two in Romulan.

gregorum,
