Yes. Spotify blocks my account if I’m using VPN, ChatGPT asks to solve ridiculous captchas (on a paid account!). It’s crazy. Reddit blocks access if you’re on the VPN and not logged in.
To speed up working with slow hardware and for overall convenience, we’re now also offering binary packages for download and direct installation! Long story short, I have a desktop with Fedora, lovely, fast, sleek and surprisingly reliable for a near rolling distro (it failed me only once back around Fedora 34 or something where it nuked Grub). Tried to install on a 2012 i7 MacBook Air… what a slog!!! Surprisingly Ubuntu runs very smooth on it. I have been bothering all...
Why are there supported tags? Why can’t #AnyTag be parsed by the bot? I don’t expect many people to make the effort to check which tags are allowed.
Why should a Lemmy user care about this? It appears there is no integration with Lemmy beyond parsing. For instance, you can’t quickly filter by tags from the sidebar.
I suppose it’s still useful since the #piracy tag is added automatically. However, the overall idea feels rather raw.
The interface is in Russian, but it’s not that hard to translate a couple of words to navigate. Apparently, you don’t even have to be registered to download anymore.
I can’t bother joining a private tracker. Of course, they might be useful for niche content. For instance, 15 years ago there was a special tracker, where people shared races of virtually all racing series. But mainstream stuff is available on public trackers.
There one tracker where I download lossless music. But anyone can join it, I guess you could define it as semi-private or semi-public.
Linux, the kernel, doesn’t operate in isolation. The system under test was Ubuntu, which comes with specific packages, package versions, patches, kernel configuration, and so on. It is reasonable to say that the combination between this specific operating system and hardware led to the observed outcome. Different combinations of software and hardware may yield other results or replicate the same outcome. The certainty of these outcomes can only be established through testing. Therefore, your outrage seems unwarranted, and your assertion is not only baseless but incorrect.

Especially if you have as much money as this dude claims to have.
I mean, this is on 4chan. Regardless of whether this is true or not, the post is blatantly narcissistic. I don’t know why it should be here and what’s there to discuss.
You don’t need that, just stop using those apps… don’t install games or use your smartphone for gaming or social stuff.
It’s akin to telling a depressed person: ‘just be happy.’ If they could be happy, they wouldn’t be depressed. The same holds true for these apps. While some individuals can quit them, for many of us, the temptation of cheap pleasure outweighs rational arguments. Maybe not immediately, but over time when the initial motivation fades. We have limited control over these impulses. That’s why creating conditions where such temptations are absent can be very helpful.
I have two screens, one of them is Samsung Odyssey G3. This model has some sort of “deep sleep”, it takes more time to wake one up after a period of inactivity (i.e. AFK). As a result, all windows that are placed on this screen are squashed. See the attached screenshot....
How does this support manifest? I’m asking, because there are no real signs. Russian army is struggling to find soldiers and Putin is afraid to start another wave of mass-mobilization.
If somebody echoes propaganda, it doesn’t mean that they support anything. There are no actions confirming this support.
There are many more nuances. I suggest reading at least one book on yhe topic of political science and listening to some lectures before coming to conclusions on such a complex matters.
Got reminded of this while reading about ProtonMail. The reason I haven't gotten into proper #piracy is that I don't have a VPN for torrenting, and the reason I don't have a VPN is that I don't #torrent. So it would be nice if I got a good VPN while #degoogling myself.
Will ProtonVPN rat me out to Comcast? I know some VPNs don't hide what you're downloading from your ISP, for reasons I don't fully understand.
Greetings y’all. I’ve been using ways to circumvent YouTube ads for years now. I’d much rather donate to creators directly instead of using Google as a middle man, needing YouTube Premium. I don’t see them blocking accounts. What would it achieve? Their goal is to monetize you. By taking you out of the equation, they can’t monetize you anymore. You’ll probably keep doing what you were doing anonymously or with a new account, so blocking you won’t reduce costs either.
On the other hand, Google is collecting a lot of data. Maybe now they aren’t using it very effectively, but sooner or later they might find a key to make YouTube Premium a viable option even for someone like you. By using YouTube and other Google services, you are providing key fragments.
I downloaded the game from soft32 (this file used to work on the old days). I installed both WINE and Lutris, but the game runs like sh**t. I get .NET and Vulkan errors from Lutris&WINE. It seems so strange to me that we are locked in battle with providers mining our lives for whatever, and we have to work our asses off trying to stay anonymous, to the point of being denied service
or even pseudo-incriminated for attempting to maintain our own life....
