Mr. Holland’s Anus

jordanlund, to movies in Well, it was nice while it lasted?
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

I dunno, surely you would have heard of Everything Everywhere All At Once due to the Oscar wins.

Around here at least both The Green Knight and Marcel the Shell With Shoes On were heavily advertised. So was First Cow now that I think about it.

jordanlund, to asklemmy in If you had to restart your job at your current employer, what would you do differently?
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

Just because they left doesn’t mean you can’t still be friends!

jordanlund, to asklemmy in Lemmy instance which has not defederated with any other instance.
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

Currently, the big problem with federation is that some instances are running newer software than others. Causes lag and other weird problems.

I don’t think there’s any single instance that hasn’t either defederated from someone or been defederated.

I’d have to wait 10 years to buy Apple at $0.07 per share, but I think I could collect enough money to make that into more than $10 million.

And still not bootable or stable 34 years later.

Gnu wouldn’t exist without Linux, not the other way around.

And maybe some day it will have a stable release… today, is not that day. Tomorrow aint looking good either. :)

jordanlund, to movies in The DCEU ends not with a bang, but a wimper.
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

I did not, but in terms of the way they built out the animated universe was superlative.

jordanlund, (edited ) to movies in [DISCUSSION] What director(s) do you think have the best filmography?
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

I own a BUNCH of movies, but there are only a few creators where I feel obligated to a) own ALL their movies and b) group them together as a block.

Coen Brothers
Kevin Smith
Quentin Tarantino
Wes Anderson
The Marx Brothers
Baz Luhrmann

jordanlund, to movies in Each generation is defined by its movies. Here are 57 that shaped me.
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

I was expecting a straight list. This is the movie equivalent of an online recipe that has to start with the chef’s life story first…

If I had to list out the stuff that made an impression on me, it’s an absurdly high count of Harrison Ford:

Star Wars
Empire
Jedi
Raiders
Temple of Doom
Last Crusade
Blade Runner
Witness
After Hours
Brazil
Buckaroo Banzai
Big Trouble in Little China
Ghostbusters
Silverado
Star Trek II
Star Trek IV

jordanlund, to movies in Nintendo has officially announced a live-action 'Legend of Zelda' movie.
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

Huh, maybe I can get through that without falling asleep… like every Zelda game.

It’s a loser I banned from the politics and world news communities on lemmy.world.

This will be the 4th account they’ve had nuked? Every time they make a new account they lose a little bit harder…

jordanlund, to movies in Seems we've already got the plot for Barbie II
@jordanlund@lemmy.world avatar

I dunno, the musical numbers and the giant beach battle look to have been pretty challenging from a directing perspective.
