I bet if you asked nicely in !lemmy_stitch someone would make it for you.

Idaho is a… special place… if you know what I mean.

It’s an elephant that ate someone’s whole stash of edibles in one bite.

Such a wasted opportunity for a mom joke!

I agree. I have lived in hot, humid places without air conditioning. The only solution is to find cool places (in the shade, in a cellar), stay wet, drink lots of water, and avoid physical exertion until the sun goes down.

I am spoiled now. I live in a region with cheap, low-carbon electricity (almost entirely from hydro, nuclear, and wind) and modern infrastructure, so air conditioning is standard practice. I wish the whole world could have the same.

Have central air conditioning in all buildings.

Have a place to swim.

I’m in the US and it was 40C (104F) yesterday, which is normal for my area. I spent the whole day either indoors or in the neighborhood pool, and it was perfectly comfortable.

We would use a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger with the words “You’ve Been Terminated.”

Funny to see VLemmy on that list considering it abruptly ceased to exist a few days ago.

IMO the point of a distributed network isn’t convenience or unbridled free speech, but freedom of choice. Not only are there hundreds of instances to choose from, but anyone can run their own instance however they like, including you. If you host your own then you alone hold the ban button.

Look at posts and comments from the instance admin. Does this person seem to know anything about running a server or managing software? Do you like the admin’s tone and attitude? Does it seem like the instance will be around for the long-term, or is it someone’s hobby that they may abandon on a whim?

Look at the instance’s ban list. Do you agree with the choices? Maybe you want your All feed to include exploding-heads and lemmygrad, or maybe you don’t.

Does the instance seem to have a community theme that you want to be associated with? Some emphasize LGBTQ+ communities, or NSFW content, or particular political views.

Bruh, wrong place. Try one of the many gun-centric communities:

Mostly it's very well written. Funny, sweet, educational for both kids and parents. The humor isn't tacked on to keep kids' attention; it's woven into the story and lesson of each episode. Bluey is one of the few shows I enjoy watching with my kids, and it's by far my favorite.

I once had a post blow up and spend two days featured on r/all. It was great to see so many people reacting positively to something I wrote!

I also love the old Reddit switcharoo. Having a big, silly inside joke really made the site feel welcoming.

The worst is that moment when I realize I've been mindlessly scrolling down my front page for who knows how long, just pissing my life away doing nothing of value.
