kittenzrulz123,

Reject modernity, embrace thinkpad

kittenzrulz123,

Not only will ARM and Risc-V likely not save Linux it will most likely harm it. I doubt there will be many Linux computers running Arm and Risc-V and the few computers that use those architectures won’t run Linux well. M series Apple computers only run with reverse engineering and even then many basic features don’t work.

kittenzrulz123,

I hope New York takes inspiration instead of raising fares.

And Trans Grinch’s estrogen levels grew three sizes that day

kittenzrulz123,

This is lemmyshitpost, we’re all autists

kittenzrulz123,

They’re too busy ricing their WMs to get exercise

kittenzrulz123,

Windows 11 was so buggy that simply plugging in a USB device caused it to crash, I joked about installing Linux then I actually did. I have not looked back since.

kittenzrulz123,

This is beautiful and I hate it at the same time

kittenzrulz123,

Microsoft will probably never truly catch up with KDE

kittenzrulz123,

Noob, I teared a hole in the fabric of reality and plugged it into my head. I interface with my thoughts and the results are read to me by voices in my head.

kittenzrulz123,

Most people will install Windows 11, complain about it, complain about the lack of Windows alternatives, then get offended and spam downvote anyone who mentions an alternative.

kittenzrulz123,

As tech illiterate as people are they also love complaining. Mostly complaining that Microsoft has a monopoly over computing. They generally don’t know what an OS is as you said but will still complain. Of course since they don’t know much telling them anything will get them offended as they feel that their intelligence was questioned.

kittenzrulz123,

I’ll address all your points

  1. It’s just GNOME but slightly modified
  2. How? Gnome includes a terminal that technically exists (even if slow)
  3. Just use sudo

As for the differences

  1. Ubuntu is open source (Android =/= AOSP)
  2. Sudo is enabled
  3. Ubuntu repository
  4. Gnome is a proper desktop (and can even be a traditional desktop with extensions)
  5. Can be heavily modified
  6. Telemetry can be disabled
  7. The most controversial feature (snaps) can be removed
  8. Ubuntu uses the standard Linux kernel
  9. It’s a desktop operating system
  10. It’s not owned by a multi billion dollar ad company
kittenzrulz123,

Android generally refers to a complete Android system that includes Google software and services along with additional OEM bloat. Meanwhile ASOP is extremely bare bones and parts of it are being abandoned.

kittenzrulz123,

Yeah and maybe Bezos will finally allow his workers to have bathroom breaks
