nilloc,

This isn’t new though, many boomers were the hippies at one point, they had the photocopier, fairness doctrine TV & Radio and liberal attitudes for sex, gender, and civil rights.

But the same tactics were used to stop and convert many of them, plus around half of them were the same sort of assholes that give them a bad name now.

nilloc,

Sure we have plenty of high-hanging fruit:

  • antiquated voting laws
  • asymmetrical representation
  • oligarchy via political funding
  • military industrial complex

But we didn’t start a world war that killed millions of people, that we’re still digging up unexploded munitions from, and that gave us the ability to fix some of our governmental systems and implement social and societal change (at least for white European folks).

The first 3 I listed are why, yes. And it sucks that the Supreme Court and some dudes 250 years ago put us in this situation.

nilloc,

All of Sigur Ros. Makes me want to move to Iceland and be confused all day long.

nilloc,

SuperbOwl I’d going along nicely. The fungus one would probably do well with a dedicated kickstart.

nilloc,

I’ve been recently bingeing Look Mum No Computer’s rescue/re-build/midi-fication of an organ that had been shoehorned into an organist’s home, after the church had been converted. I’m more of an engineer than musician, but it’s amazing how much goes into the layering of sounds from so many different pipes.

My 6 yo loves learning with such a cool soundtrack too.

nilloc,

That’s amazing sounding! Worth the watts, even if I did get church ptsd listening to it.

nilloc,

If it’s talking to you, it’s a toddler. And all the fucking guns are killing most of those.

nilloc,

9/10 Pippin needs a pair of those nuclear test goggles.

nilloc,

Oops thanks, I must have missed it when I looked.

I’ll check out the repo when I’m back in front of a computer later.

Add Haier to the list. They’re threatening Homekit devs and issued a takedown on a GitHub hosted HVAC controller for their units. Citing it hurting their income (I assume they mean data mining income when you stop letting them monitor your appliances online).

The dev is looking for a lawyer to consult, and wants to fight, so has probably not got any copyright infringing code in his repo.

Oh and for boycotting purposes, they sell appliances under the brands: Haier, Casarte, Leader, GE Appliances, Fisher & Paykel, Aqua and Candy.

nilloc,

I agree on the outcome, I’m saying they don’t care what the fired employee really thinks, they just need to cover their asses in the event an employee sues them. And they are also doing it to discourage the fired employee from suing by showing them they’ve already built a case against them.

nilloc,

HR will say it’s your fault so that the company saves on severance and unemployment insurance reimbursements. They pass off those costs to state taxes and the fired employees.

Admitting fault and admitting they are firing perfectly capable workers is more expensive and hurts the bottom line, which is all they are really there to protect.

Scam Numbers - Reddit's (and possibly the internet's) largest scam number depository, now on Lemmy! (lemmy.zip)

With almost 40k subscribers on Reddit, r/ScamNumbers is one of the most useful online databases for tracking down scam phone numbers. Some use the information for awareness, while others take advantage by prank calling scammers to waste their time....

nilloc,

I was under the impression that (at least in the US) scammers don’t reveal any real phone numbers with Caller-ID. That they just chose random numbers with your area code and similar exchange digits to try and convince you it’sa let local call (like you drs office or whatever you may be waiting on). Is that not true?

nilloc,

OG iPod is missing too. Clickwheel for the win.

OpenJSSCAD helps with the spaghetti code, unless you also write JS spaghetti, but I only use it for creating tools I want non-tech people to use.

It lets you make parameters editable from a web based UI of your liking with the model code hidden away, and can output decent meshes.

Car diagnostic software and tunning software?

Hello all. I was looking for a specific Car diagnostic software package and I noticed that this type of software doesn’t come across often on the seas. are their any good places I can go to start looking for this kind of software. The software often cost up to 500 dollars or more and for me it would be a one time maiby 2 time...

nilloc,

What kind of connector are you using to the car?

The cheap OBD dongles are all elm 327 only support a basic error reading and clearing, and some basic engine metrics.

The version I grew up with was “it’s fleece was white as snow”, not black as coal.

Which also rhymes better with “sure to go”

nilloc,

Maybe that’s based on streaming prices from 10 years ago, when there was only Hulu and Netflix.

My brother and I were kids during the end of the Cold War and definitely got this one. But my dad was a gallows humor type who claimed he’d run toward the mushroom clubs if it ever happened, better to end it quick.

Edit: Mushroon Clouds thanks autocorrect.

For those who, like me, wasn’t aware of rentry, it’s a pastebin the supports markdown.

I didn’t know pastebins were still a thing after stack overflow, JS fiddle and codepen replaced all that with more useful info. But I must have a different use case.
