otp, to asklemmy in What is a nifty little feature modern gadgets have lost?

How’s the Samsung bloatware on it?

otp, to historyporn in Trey Parker and Matt Stone, high on acid at the 2000 Oscars.

They have admitted when they were wrong in the past.

All the previous presidents were characters in South Park. Clinton, Bush, Obama…all represented as themselves.

Trump is represented by the most racist character in South Park who is otherwise famous for being fucked up gay trans trans and lesbian transtrans and gay whatever the heck he is now.

It just sort of happened that way, but there hasn’t been a precedent for this.

I don’t know if they’re still doing the “both sides” thing, but they might’ve stopped at some point.

Not that they won’t make fun of people on the political left, but they might have gotten over the political fence sitting.

otp, to gaming in 2023 Top Games measured by Gross Revenue

To be fair, a decent share of the AAA games are also barely functioning buggy crap on launch…

I had an XCover 4 and hated the specs and the Samsung aspect. Too much bloat for my tastes.

I’m glad there are others still buying these phones though, and the “Pro” makes it sound like it has modern specs!

otp, to asklemmy in Have you ever seen a rudolph moment happen in real life?

I’m still waiting for your Rudolph moment here.

Tell us how you’ll guide the sleigh tonight!

otp, to piracy in GTA V source code has been leaked.

Yes, and the source code wouldn’t have the assets. So the previous comment holds up – 4.3gb or whatever seems pretty big, no?

otp, to asklemmy in Why does America say 'merry christmas'?

My woke did what?

otp, to asklemmy in What's a food you love, that isn't worth making from scratch?

That was one of the first things I learned how to cook that wasn’t between two pieces of bread.

I’m not a good cook by any means – it just surprises me that mashed potatoes would be one of “those” foods for someone who can actually cook!

The multi-billionaire would probably already know how to more efficiently use the money though, making their millions of political spending stretch much further.

otp, to asklemmy in is there a term for words such as inflammable?

Not sure, but another example is “irregardless”

otp, to asklemmy in Why do people not understand that you can agree with one thing someone said or did while disagreeing with the majority of what they stand for?

If a shitbag says the sky is blue, you don’t need to say “Hey, the shitbag was right about the sky being blue”. You can just say “The sky is blue”.

These types of shitbags take advantage of psychological techniques to gain followers. Getting people to agree with them is a sort of a “foot-in-the-door” technique.

The moment you say “I don’t agree with everything Jordan Peterson says, but…”, he’s got his foot in your door in turning you into a supporter.

“But I’m smarter than that,” you say. “I’m just an independent thinker who can separate the argument from the individual”. Jordan Peterson has a PhD in psychology, and has made his living off of manipulating people. He’s better equipped than you. And as you may know, thinking “it won’t/can’t happen to me” makes you more likely to become a victim.

Other phrases these guys love to hear people say are things like…

“I don’t agree with him, but I like to listen to arguments from people that I disagree with.”

“I know he’s making shit up, but he’s just funny. I listen just to laugh at him.”

“He’s absolutely wrong, but he makes people so angry. I listen to see what people are raging about.”

These are all foot-in-the-door scenarios. And that’s how they make their eventual “sale”.

otp, to asklemmy in What is an obscure piece of media or videogame that you think nobody else here has heard of?

Wow. I watch YouTubers who talk about the SNES, and it gets brought up all the time in those circles!

otp, to asklemmy in What do ridiculously rich people (like Bill Gates etc.) ask for/get for Christmas/birthdays/etc.?

Yeah, no worries, I was just wondering if it works differently for rich people, lol

At a certain level of richness, if someone says “I can’t, I’m working”, the rich person could say “I’ll pay you for the day” or something, lol

otp, to asklemmy in Which of your favorite creators content quality went downhill very quickly?

Wow. Someone over there is defending him being a fan of the Proud Boys guy because he claims the Proud Boys aren’t a terrorist group (despite having been declared as such).

He says they’re “very extreme right at worst”, as if there’s some sort of sliding scale on the right wing that eventually gets to “extreme right”, “very extreme right”, “terrorist organization” just naturally…and he isn’t aware they crossed the line years ago.
