Yeah I’ve seen this happen in real time. Maybe a little slower, but still inexorably.

it’s easy to listen to an audiobook at the same time

This blows my mind and shows what a different experience this must be, compared to what I was imagining. I suppose you’ve been reading sheet music for a long time now? Almost like a second “language.” Do you enjoy reading sheet music?

Highly recommend throwing –patch on any git commands you’re used to using. You will have the prettiest, most atomic fkn commit, I’m serious people will love you for it.

I mean many people won’t care, but the quality folk will notice and approve.

I still think it looks really cool, but I’m still in favour of more accessible public transportation eating away at the space cars have taken from us.

Also I will never ever buy a Tesla, for wide ranging variety of other reasons.

They’re also bees, which are notably distinct from humans in ways almost too numerous to count.

ounce of social intelligence

Maybe fair in a typical setting, but getting iffy around programmers, especially kernel maintainers. I’m convinced linux and foss in general would not exist without the autism spectrum, and who knows maybe even borderline personality disorders

Catch me going out in that burnt mustard death whip babeee 😎

But seriously, it’s natural burial AKA “green burial” for me.

No chance in hell I am clicking that no way no way noway

Hey thank you for commenting on this. It lets me do a tiny lil soapboxing here for just one second hehe:

I wish people did it more often, but I do find the fedi in general good for accessibility (Mastodon community seems especially good at captioning).

I don’t want to shame anyone, but I have been trying to cook up a series of memes to encourage this community (and others) to alt up their images.

Once you get into it you’ll wonder how you ever programmed without “divisions”! I mean honestly, just declaring variables anywhere? Who needs that. Give me a nice, defined data division any day 😌

I went back at 35. It was very much worth it. What are you taking, if you don’t mind me asking?

I think I was a year into living on my own when I realised I could eat whatever I wanted. I have a distinct memory of walking from the microwave at work with two paper cups stuffed with dogs, and more between my fingers, like a corn dog wolverine.

I probably had malnutrition because I didn’t know how to feed myself for shit lol no wonder I was starving

I like that idea, and it actually did work for our Marketing guy (Salesforce has a kind of SQL). Near the end there, I just had to debug a few of his harder errors, or double check a script that was going to be running on production.

Never thought of it for Postres or Mysql, etc, but I suppose there’s got to be an easy enough way to get someone access

I get what you’re saying, but I personally don’t find it tiring. It’s just a part of contextualizing history. I think of it as a reminder of the progress we’ve made (I hope) - that we can put an asterisk beside someone’s name in the history books.

Kind of like how it’s impossible to talk about the history of hypothermia research without acknowledging its grossly unethical source.

Yeah I’m seeing them all over. I was at one of the Nov 12 “ceasefire now” protests, and saw this group actually had an info booth set up nearby.

I think I’m in a similar boat as you. On the whole I think it’s a positive thing.

When you’re a kid this is that one aunt who gives you their undivided attention, and asks you follow-up questions that show they’re really listening, and you feel validated for the first time ever.

Great plain language breakdown for the uninitiated. Doesn’t disregard socialism as a solution to the problems outlined, but that’s a whole other discussion. Frankly at this point in history, it’s largely academic IMHO.

a lot of the human populace is becoming useless.

Emphasis mine. This would be my only edit. Useless only as a consumer and worker. Still imbued with dignity and capable of generating meaning and experiencing a worthy life.

Disney is gouging customers with a near doubling of subscription costs. (sh.itjust.works)

Disney is raking its customers over the coals with a 75% price hike for their annual subscription (originally $80.) People wonder why piracy is on the rise.Multiple commenters are saying I’m off base about the 75% price increase. My payment less than a year ago was $79.99. Here’s the proof.

It’s families. Dual income with several kids, yeah the fees sting, but when your cashflow is high and your savings nil, $200 a year doesn’t sound crazy. It’s not smart, and it’s not fair, but if you know any parents of young children you can see how they could make that decision.

My partner drives our neighbour’s kids around sometimes, so we rack up seats on family streaming accounts that way.

I mean personally I’d sub it in for something with some protein, though you definitely don’t need nearly the amount you get from a piece of meat.
