It’s nice to meet all you. I am she/her, can speak Toki Pona and English (non-natively), and locatable on Reddit as MozartWasARed. The links at discord.gg/sEuSSDz6TQ and deviantart.com/…/My-copyright-policy-and-the-impa… are pertinent to me.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

I am very thesaurus-minded and express myself precisely when possible, so I don’t have any words I just forget, but once in a while I might not be able to find a word that embodies what I’m trying to get across, which is always frustrating as someone whose first language does have an equivalent to the missing word in question.

What search engine do you recommend that isn't Google or Bing?

I’m still trying to de-Google my life, little by little. I don’t trust Bing for similar reasons. DDG is feeling shady of late. What’s the search engine you all recommend that I can inject into my daily life? Is there perhaps a search engine that is focused on code, or have we just all moved on to AI for searching?...

shinigamiookamiryuu,

I used to be a part of the DuckDuckGo hype train until I found out they did actually track data (not an issue to me personally, but it betrayed their key marketing point), as used to be demonstrable if you had a slow internet and hovered your cursor over a link (it would show the tracking data loading). It was the one thing separating them from Ecosia, and I decided to join the Ecosia hype train, even if their own promises are themselves highly exaggerated. Every effort to do what Ecosia promises, even failed efforts, are appreciable.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

The same thing that makes any other type of leader or ruler good. Simply seek to understand the people.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

It addresses the crudeness of the hand that deals some people, rather than assume equal opportunism is automatic.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

Because it makes sense to them in the context of what they envision the highest power might want. Not a lot of introduction needed there. For example, whenever a group considers reproduction an omen of the supreme being’s plan, they shame everything else as a “waste”.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

A friend of mine stopped their addiction by developing the habit of putting junk food in the freezer. The freezer makes it taste better but forces you to wait out the craving because it has to get cold.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

Winter is warm this year, maybe a good way to celebrate is to visit your surroundings a little in reflection.

What is Something Scientific that you just don't believe in at all?

EDIT: Let’s cool it with the downvotes, dudes. We’re not out to cut funding to your black hole detection chamber or revoke the degrees of chiropractors just because a couple of us don’t believe in it, okay? Chill out, participate with the prompt and continue with having a nice day. I’m sure almost everybody has something...

shinigamiookamiryuu,

There wouldn’t be any other way I could think of it aside from it being nothing short of escalation. Aldrin’s defenders would later claim the accuser “cornered him”, but this is certainly neither true nor would make sense in the context. Sometimes the narrative is going to do what a narrative does, though I (unlike some here) do not judge others for having different conclusions than me.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

But they also said they weren’t interested in the space race. Note that you can be interested in an endeavor other people are interested with without wanting to engage in a “race” with them. In this case they are claimed as being interested in showing off while simultaneously being insecure about said thing. I would be puzzled if someone’s method of showing off was precisely that, to not show off.

You say the rest like they did see it that way, that we absolutely went to the moon. How do you think censorship works? There is plenty of documentation about the case against the moon landing. Despite looking like plot armor though, the power of our culture has promoted the counters to it over it though.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

You say that like the opposing standard for interesting ever had a timeslot on any channel. I wouldn’t hold this against anyone though, I for one am not one to be as judgy or to come to a question like this expecting narrative conformity.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

You’re welcome :) I’m glad there’s at least one happy person here.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

Judgment thereof does though.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

If that’s the standard, there aren’t really a lot of meaningful discussions anywhere on this thread to be honest. Any documentaries on mothers co-sleeping with infants, humans fighting bears, or one for each of the three people denying the big bang theory?

Is there a forum for people who are lonely and sad but specifically not incel sickos?

like you know you’re a good person at heart but life circumstances and trauma and bullying and etc prevented you from learning the proper social skills to find companionship. not necessarily a forum to actually find friends (i find going into things with that intention feels fake and weird), but rather a forum to commiserate...

shinigamiookamiryuu,

Do you mean platonically, romantically, or both?

shinigamiookamiryuu,

Telepathy. You would get their mental illnesses too. Imagine telepathic combatants on a battlefield and suddenly everyone has PTSD because one guy stepped in a trap.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

The ultimate social media site, in my perspective, would probably have the simplicity and functionality of Side 7, the content execution methodology of TV Tropes, the expandability of Discord, the rule enforcement of ProBoards, the fanbase of YouTube, the adaptability of Hypothesis, and the funding of Pogo (classic Pogo, not modern Pogo, and no I don’t mean Pokémon Go).

shinigamiookamiryuu,

Oddly enough (because we’re in the last few hours of Christmas right now), Saint Nicholas. People go at depth with their kids about the existence of Santa with many not realizing there’s an actual Saint Nicholas who not only has delivered actual gifts each year but was an explorer in his mortal years who was said to have control over the weather (which served as his “miracle requirement” into sainthood) and fought corruption in the Catholic church.

shinigamiookamiryuu,

Neighbors showing their unneighborly side again. The people here have a saying, “a cat giving birth to her kittens in the oven doesn’t make them biscuits”, meaning you’re not viewed as one of the community members unless you and the generations before you were raised there. And they somehow think that’s a virtue.
