On a timescale of hundreds of years? He’s probably right. Empires come and go, borders change.

Within his own lifetime? Doubtful.

Keep your Apple TV and use it as a streaming client for whatever you stand up on the backend. Personally I have a Synology NAS that I love and I use the net to get all my content. Use the net. 😉

Actually with a Synology NAS you don’t need Plex, they have a built in equivalent called DS Video with apps for Apple TV, iOS, Android, etc!

I’ve had an Nvidia shield in the past as well and it works reasonably well, but the video experience is definitely better on the Apple TV. The Android boxes make more sense if you want a place to install emulators that also occasionally streams.

Me vs my ISP

So I was looking into getting port forwarding set up and I realized just how closed-off the internet has gotten since the early days. It’s concerning. It used to be you would buy your own router and connect it to the internet, and that router would control port-forwarding and what-have-you....

Cloudflare tunnels are definitely the way, letting you expose a service to the open internet regardless of what your ISP thinks. I’m not sure how they would handle DMCA complaints but given they are just a DNS provider, I’m not sure they would do much given it’s the server owner’s responsibility for the content. Which in this case is you.

It’s more than slight! I ran a 3090 in an eGPU for a while and it lost around 40% of performance compared to when it was in my case.

Is this Tusk giving Duda the finger, or the reverse?

Well, none. One assumes the aspiration is to implement Cocoa, to allow GUI apps to run.

Did you read the article? It says the federal government compelled Apple to comply and gave them a gag order.

Actually, you can, with Lockdown for iOS or Lulu for macOS. There are other alternatives available, these are just a pair of FOSS examples. You can totally block *.apple.com if you really want to.

Clickbait headline, and stupid article. At no point are they making the claim that EVs are worse than combustion engines. The author posits that bicycles and walking are even more climate friendly than driving a car of any kind (duh). This entire article could be replaced by the sentence, “We should keep building trams and bike lanes in the EV era”.

I think this is a failure of imagination on the part of the author. Norway is, on a whole, much more rural; a large portion of the population lives in small towns and villages in areas with difficult terrain (think fjords), where public transport beyond a bus is impractical due to population densities.

The public transport in Oslo and Bergen are fantastic - Norway’s only two large cities. Keeping in mind that over a quarter of the population of the entire country lives in these two, it’s not as bad as it sounds.

Well, it pretty much feels like this! Took it in Santiago from the tallest building downtown :-)

Santiago is a cool town. I’ve been twice and I would definitely recommend a visit. It kind of answers the question, “what would Mexico City be like if it were in a developed, first-world country?”
